Without this precious cut out, i would have NEVER been able to grasp this concept just from explaination alone. When you actually see it working, in motion, then you can truly appreciate what's going on to make this system work. I have to agree that it's a true marvel of simplitic engineering. Great video.
At first it looked complicated, but then, as you started showing it in operation, you realize how ingenious and simple it is, amazing what the human mind can design , and none of us would’ve ever gotten to see that Had you not cut the door exterior open, A ford exclusive ,something you’ll never see on a Rolls-Royce or Mercedes, Cadillac , during that time period, thank you for making that excellent video.
Great help seeing the window mechanism from the other side. The drivers side vent on my 89 was getting stuck coming up. After watching this I now know where to grease the track. Works fine now. Thanks Tony
👍🏻I agree sir, ingenious invention. Always wondered about the mechanism behind that. Always figured there was a second motor, some relays or additional limit switches. Simple yet well engineered. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent! Truly amazed by all the wonders that are hidden in our great American cars. These mechanisms remind me of the genius designs of old lever rifles and semi-auto pistols. Thanks for the videos...
Too bad that the door skins weren’t removable like the ones on the 1963 - 1965 Buick Rivieras. Buick engineers did it so the door glass could be adjusted with the door closed in order to assure a perfect seal on the first production frameless door windows. I must agree that the Ford mechanism is genius. Thanks for another of your great videos!
Once you get the door panel off you will be able to see the roller. You need to soak it down....get it rolling....get some grease on it and it will work fine. Please subscribe and stay tuned for more videos on these cars. Thanks!

Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin in 1794, some of those movements I recognize in this window mechanism. Of course, it was modifications of those movements that someone at Ford came up with and I'm sure he's long dead, so we can't congratulate him. The railroad copied some of those grand movements, as well. I'm thinking wheel rotations in steam engines. About 15 years ago, I entertained the idea of combining electronics within our clothes (warming wires, timers and sensors), but realized I was about 2000 years too late. My only contributions would have been a rag hat or a rope belt. 😀😁
Hi Tony, I have an 88 TC. Having a problem with my left rear door window. It goes down slowly but doesn’t come back up. Starts clicking. Die you think it’s the motor or the regulator.
Hey Tony I have an 88 town car I just had the regulator replaced in the front drivers door and the people that worked on it collapsed the keyless entry pad halfway below the chrome molding into the door how do push it back up to to be even with the chrome molding on the door it's supposed to be flush with?
Very fascinating. Great idea to do the cutout. So much cool stuff going on inside the door that we never normally set our eyes on. Probably next to impossible to get everything greased up properly without the cutout. How does the factory do it?
It's all pre greased when it goes in at the factory. It is definitely greasable from the inside.......because I've done it. I will be posting a video on the Mark V window operation soon, but has to cool off outside first. Thank you for watching!
You're welcome and thank you! I hope to come up with more helpful videos so please subscribe to my channel and like the videos. It will help them show up first in the search.
I have a 1983 Mark VI Pucci Coupe. Your door panel looks like it's from a Pucci model. 🙂I sprayed WD40 silicone spray on the window runs. Now both the driver and passenger side windows lower and raise nicely. 🙂 However, on the driver's side, there is a big gap between the interior door panel and exterior door. The main window glass significantly bounces from side to side when it is in a lower position (top of main glass pane is about level to the top of the side view mirror). It obviously straightens the higher it's raised while fitting in the upper frame. The glass does not appear to bounce side to side when in the full raised position. When I open the driver's door and look from the side into the gap between the interior panel and the exterior door, I can see that one of the upper corner pressure pins (plastic bolts) near the door has broken in half. Can you provide some guidance on what you think might be causing the gap in my panels. Possibly more push pins broken and preventing the two sides from joining more close together. Next week, I plan to take it to a local shop for review. Your feedback is appreciated. Also, my weatherstrip along the interior and exterior base of both door windows has dry rot. Can you show how the interior and exterior strips (with metal flashing) is removed? Can the rubber be unstapled from the flashing and replaced?
I have an 89 town car. Unrelated question. I just had ac filled and checked out. Usually when I accelerate hot air blows through upper vents even when climate control is off.
i have an '84 town car. the main drivers window doesn't roll up or down as well as the vent window but the motor/switch still works. however, the main window is free to be pulled up or pushed down by hand. i'm assuming the teeth in the motor have deteriorated. could it be just the motor to replace, or is it a complete motor/regulator replacement? I'd really appreciate anyone's answer. thnx.

And have you tried to use electrical contact cleaner and also some silicone and lithium grease may be on your original cuz it probably will work again a lot of stuff on these cars doesn't completely die they just need to be refreshed but you can even take a universal door actuator or one from another like they've already said Ford or Lincoln or Mercury vehicle and you can put it up to where the actuator on your original one would move and will see the action of it and if you use one from another car or Universal you just Mark the position where it needs to be and then you can drill holes and then attach it you know slightly different location than the original and then you just need a splice in the wires probably have the same number wires just different color maybe
Where would I start to try to diagnose my window. I took the panel off I can hear the motor going but, the gears not moving. Your right there no room at all
th-cam.com/video/X0etgXzadZE/w-d-xo.html this is a link to one of my videos showing that repair. You will have to remove the speaker to get the motor out. This is your problem.
@tonyscarcare5657 not sure .the mechanic told me it was missing one of those bracket that have a rubber piece on the end ,and they suppose to align or adjust the glass .I guess is like 3 of those brackets or guides on each door
Toke my car to a mechanic to change a motor in the door, and when I when to a carwash, water was getting inside everywhere, glass didn't completely go all the way up and one side wasn't touching the rubber seal. SO toke it to a different mechanic and told me the the glass wasn't adjusted right and it was missing a glass guide, bracket stopper whatever he call it. Now am screw can't find it anywhere
