It's crazy to think this was 10 years ago! I have seen the popularity of the video grow over time and I love that it has been helpful for so many people. Today I am happy to say I am doing well, I have anxiety sure but that is part of being human. It doesn't rule my life and it won't rule yours either. I cannot keep up with the comments anymore but I'm happy you are finding ways to interact among each other. There is a good life after all of this and you'll get there. I'm 100% sure of it! Good luck to you all!

Hey, question about the 5 HTP part. Wouldn’t your serotonin be low during the withdrawal because you are no longer on an SSRI?

Been on celexa for 11 years. Been taking my pills, 30 mg on alternating days for years and experienced interdose withdrawal many times. May 18, Finally started tapering to 27mg, the head wooziness began and lasted a week, that was annoying but manageable.
Few days after, the bad anxiety started kicking in. I joined a support group online and many people told me to stop skipping days and start taking my pills everyday, so I started taking it daily now. I divided my 27mg up and taking 13.5mg now.
The anxiety was horrible but every it gets little better. Im still worried its going to take a bit to stabilize.

My current doctor, a GP, has no knowledge of SSRI withdrawal--clueless--and I have read that most doctors are not knowledgeable. He told me the muscle pain I have is arthritis! I know better, but he didn't take time to listen to all my symptoms. There is no point talking to him, because doctors generally think if they keep up-to-date on their journals they know all they need to know.

@@MrDswampymarsh I'm 64 yrs old and nobody has to remind me that smoking is bad and that I should quit. But when my PCP insists on blaming smoking for these severe, unbearable symptoms of withdrawal from Paxil (after being on anti-depressants for over 20 yrs), to me, is no less than professional negligence.

This has helped me a lot. I was on 40mg for 7 years and have been weaned off for about 2 weeks now. I started having brain zaps and I had no idea what they were until I googled withdrawal symptoms from SSRIs. I feel like I was lied to. I thought that the meds were not addictive and were almost like a supplement. I was so wrong. I feel horrible, the brain zaps are constant, headaches, crying spells, shivering. This helped me feel like I’m not alone and this won’t be forever. Thank you.

I was lied to also. I told my doctor I didn't even want to see him because I dont trust doctors. They had put me on the worst kind of pain medication for my back and It took me years to get off those. I asked my doctor straight out if they where addicting or physically addicting and he looked me straight in my face and lied. These doctors are pill pushers and aren't doctors at all. They don't listen to you, push you out so they can get another patient in and get as many patients as possible. Their God is money.

Excellent video and congrats on getting through that very difficult middle part of the withdrawal process. That is really where the human spirit and willpower comes to light. Keeping a journal is also excellent on your part as this is an acute record of your process, difficulties and eventual triumphs. Thank you very much for posting as I think this will help a lot of people who are in that middle phase of the hellish withdrawal, the courage and strength to power through know that there is light at the end of this withdrawal journey.

I unfortunately decided to stop cold-turkey not knowing that it was the wrong thing to do.

You know society shuns so many drugs and marks them as dangerous but prescribes even more dangerous drugs to patients. Insane. And some doctors will say you are making them up. I know I need to stay strong and positive I will get out of it soon. I am not quitting cold turkey but rather tapering of with a milligram scale.

I’m on day 6 of what feels like severe withdrawal symptoms; moving eyes causes intense dizziness, waves of intense “whooshes” that last a few seconds at a time, general lethargy, difficulty focusing sometimes, overall weakness like having flu etc. Gained some positivity from watching this video and sure as f*** cannot wait to get through this withdrawal. FYI: I took 20mg Citalopram (Celexa) for 2 months and then upped dose for 6 months 40mg. Weened down half each week from 40 and took quarter tablets for a few weeks.

I'm experiencing the emotional rollercoaster. I'm tapering off an SSRI after about five years now and I feel like it also may have something to do with the fact that I suddenly have a full range of emotions again. I don't really mind getting choked up just because I enjoy the experience of feeling things again, but it does feel kind of silly sometimes; I've had to firmly limit my consumption of dog rescue videos or I'll have to find a box of tissues. Hahaha.

Very nice job in your descriptions of the brain "zaps". I've always found it difficult to describe to someone what they feel like. To anyone here looking for encouragement, I will also throw my hat in the ring...
I am currently going on 2 weeks now without having taken any medication. I took a little over 2 months to taper myself off of 20 mg. Of paxil, which was also a little too fast, but I did almost completely avoid the worst of the brain zaps. Not that there haven't been other difficulties, because there have been. I've been lethargic, depressed, and apathetic, but I've been through all of this before, and likely so have you. I am however optimistic about these side effects improving. My main concern in mentioning all this is for any individuals who may be coming off a similar type medication that hasn't before ( unfortunately I've had too much experience with this bullshit). I want to tell you that the brain zaps are almost definitely the scariest part of the process, because you start to wonder if they will ever stop. They do, but when you're in the middle of it you don't know that, and it's incredibly frightening. The only way to avoid this as much as possible is to listen to my advice, and everyone else's advice when they say to taper off SLOWLY! PERIOD.
And if you start getting the zaps, take a bit more of your medication immediately. It will help. The next day, go back to the dose you have been working on. If you get them again, take more of the medication again, and realize you're trying to get off too fast. Best to all of you. We do this together. Peace.

Thank you for sharing your story. I have been on Zoloft for over 10 years and have attempted several times to get off of it but gave up because of the insane withdrawals. I also spent many of time watching videos and researching how to get off of it with very little success. I have currently begun a new process of getting off of Zoloft and I am on day 4 with zero side effects. I will not speak about what I'm using but it is all natural and completely legal and able to be purchased on Amazon or other locations that sell vitamins. I cannot post a video yet but I plan on posting as soon as I hit about 7 to 10 days. I'm nervous that I may still get side effects at some point, so I will wait several days before posting a video on my current status. So far so good. It's would be revolutionary if I was able to actually get off this was 0 side effects . Once again congrats on your freedom from SSRI . It is truly a poison that personally I couldn't be happier to be off of. By the way my anxiety has decreased since being off of Zoloft and replaced with vitamins. Stand by for a future video from me!

I am really glad I found your video. I started taking Citalopram a little over a year ago. I had a very emotional move to a new town and some family issues. The down side is that since I have been on the medication I have gained 25 pounds. The medication makes me feel lethargic. A week ago I discussed discontinuing the medication with my health care provider and explained why. She stated that any of the side effects should have worn off by now. I want to stop taking it but I am afraid to.

@chanstara I definitely felt that way too. But I was on them for 7 years and I was able to come off and get back to normal. There's no evidence to suggest that the longer you stay on an AD the less likely you are to be able to come off of one. You'll get through it, focus on the progress you've made already and not on the obstacles you still have to overcome. By this time next week you'll be feeling way better!

@psxiiuk Excellent! Glad you're doing well! I noticed for about a month after being done with the W/D's I was somewhat more irritable than normal, but that subsided pretty quickly. A little bit of rebound anxiety/depression is normal they say and can kinda flop back and forth for a few months until your levels get back to normal. Hope all goes well!

Thanks for posting your Celexa story. I have just realized my facial spasms and other symptoms were SSRI overdose from 60mg of Celexa (20 years on SSRIs); Imitrex for Migraines and then today I read my pain med Fentanyl is also a culprit. I am Having brain zaps, dizzy dizzy and my headache sucks!! Wish a had a doctor better at this stuff than my internist. I diagnosed myself after about 4 months of increased symptoms. When you wake up and your face is contorting into all types of horrible faces it tends to freak you out. But doctors aren't educated enough to take my complaints seriously enough.
Thank you for your post. Want to know what life is like SSRI free?
    Wish me luck. :-)

@ibeecrazie Glad it was helpful for you! To answer your question, I've been feeling pretty good since being off of Celexa. The one main thing I've noticed since being off the drug is when a stressful or anxiety producing situation happens I tend to feel it a tad more intensely than I did before. But it's nothing that isn't manageable. I'm having zero SSRI withdrawal type symptoms and there have been no lingering effects from the drug. Good luck to you and feel free to message with any questions!

Thank you so much for this video, I'm on the beginning of week two, I tapered off over 3 weeks from 40to 20 to 10 to 0, and it was way too fast. Today (day 14) is the first day I feel human again. The nausea and vertigo is so understated, I'd get waves that lasted hours, standing somewhere and the nausea would grow, then dizzynes, hand and leg tremors, I became home bound because of this, I've now started on day 15 to feel like I can drive without tremors so it's definitely getting better and I just am so glad I've tossed these pills, I was on them for 12 years for anxiety and panic attacks, only in the last year did I completely lose my sex drive, 💯 gone, my goal right now, just get over the worst of it and hopefully in time I'll start feeling normal human urges again. Good luck and comfort to everyone going through this journey, we just want our life back and we deserve it.

Did you get any Suicide thoughts?

    • @susanlewis8342
      @susanlewis8342 ปีที่แล้ว

@@michyrudy no, well not directly from the withdrawals, I'm bi polar and went into a 3year long depression after my partner died. During that time I suffered with intrusive thoughts on a whole new level and every day was a day filled with wanting to die so I feel your pain. The mind is the most wonderful thing and yet the cruelest of things at times. As for the the pills, I wasn't able to stay off them, the withdrawals got to a point where being on them was the lesser of two evils. I've been on them since 2008 so 14 years. I think the longer you're on them the worse it is, the length of the withdrawals that is, I couldn't hack it but I've made my peace with it. My only advice is do it with your shrinks supervision, even if you just check in with them every two months then every 3 months.

@JustUjjayi It certainly can be a long haul! Fortunately it gets easier as it goes. The Fish Oil was a big help for me too. I used Valerian instead of Kava Kava to help soothe the nerves. Kava can get you pretty loopy if you take too much so best to use that only when not at work or anywhere where you have to behave! Glad to hear you're doing better! After week 5 you should start feeling pretty much back to normal completely, with a couple minor symptoms here and there.

Such testimony is far superior than any cure available to SSRI victims. I live in the wake of a monster, beside me lies a mother in constant pain and disablement unable to cuddle her little angels. Poisoning is unique to every victim.Your narrative is the reflection of a man who defeated a synthetic mutant that thriving in a world where profit rules over life.Depression has a new friend, a secret chemistry that will kill 1 in 10,000, the survivors left a lagacy. My heart goes out to you all.

@fetalbetal Sorry to hear you've had such a long road in the psychiatric world. As I mentioned I actually work in a psychiatric hospital so I know the struggles patients have trying to manage meds and maintain a healthy life. The best advice I can give is to not allow your labels to control you life. You are a person first and any psychiatric disorder you may have been diagnosed with comes second. I've seen hundreds of people with axis 1 disorders like yours lead normal, happy, healthy lives!

      @muttick 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James,
I still have the brain zaps and dizziness but it is finally getting better. I was only given the first week off work and ending up going in, really struggled and had to take a few more days off.
Some days have been shocking and I have literally got in from work and gone directly to bed. My doctor told me to go back onto the drugs but at a reduced rate and come of them slower, but the thought of starting again felt like defeat so I haven’t and I’m glad.
I do get a lot of stomach pain. It’s high up near my ribs. A gnawing pain like hunger pains, but when I eat it gets worse. I’m controlling it with Buscopan, as and when needed but if it doesn’t ease up then I think I need to see the doc again.
I’m finally losing weight, I have more energy so I’ve been swimming and walking more, plus I’m eating better and I feel a lot happier.
Today will be day 21 being sertraline free. It’s a rough journey but I feel sure I’m on the right path. :-)

I have been on Lexapro for anxiety induced migraines for about 2 years. It was the right med for me and worked wonders. But, time to cut it loose. I tried slow withdraw with Dr guidance. Days 1-4 were a piece of cake. After that OMG, a new kind of hell. Short fuse highly irritable. This was not fair to my family or others at work. So, i went back on full dose. Now 1.5 wks cold turkey and just turning a corner. I now have hope. Thx

I stopped cold turkey 3 years ago, after being on Celexa (50 mg) and Lorazapam/Ativan/Orfida (3 mg) for the first 4 years. Then I switched to Effexor/Venlafaxine (80 mg) and Trazadone (40 mg) for the last 6 years of use before quitting. I didn't know about the withdrawals and I was in hell. I almost killed myself a few times. I was seeing things. It was awful. I am still withdrawing, but it is way better then before. No more suicidality anymore, or at least it is rare. I have agoraphobia from being indoors so long. It is still a bit like hell, but I have progressed a couple levels higher, I guess you could say. I am glad yours were not as traumatic, from the sounds of what you said.I have experienced more symptoms then what I have stated, but it would take a while to explain them all. I am happy you are almost free. I think I have a while yet. Thank you for posting this video. :-)
