Great two youngsters coming through, but the URC , Superrugby, premiership not Test rugby.Test rugby total different beast .Sa teams currently not even playing against the Celtic test players.Roos and Louw time will come.I remember Pierre spies ran all over everyone in his first time in Superrugby. Then he made his debut in the Mandela cup and Spies was found wanting.Roos and Louw can become world beaters in 2 to 3 years time

I wish the SA national team played like this when the opportunity was there. Cardiff were weakened, but that was an immense performance.

Boks do play running rugby when the opportunity presents itself. It all depends on the opposing teams defence structure. Just have a look at boks v Canada RWC 2019 for example. Cardiff were poor in all departments.

I think SA does but the reason you don't see it that much is because they follow they prefer taking points when they get a penalty and when they are chasing a try they will usually maul first (Which ends up either being a pushover or simple backline try).
But saying that, I think we all want to see less senseless box kicking and more attacking the space like the local franchises are doing.

    • @paulmulryne8405

@@theultimatesharpshooter6734 I totally hear that. There are many ways to win, but if Erasmus and co had THIS in their back pocket to call upon as plan B or facing a tough defensive team, SA would be unstoppable. It’s what they did to us so effectively in the WC final pummelled the forwards then cut loose.

    The following players are serious contenders for Bok selection in place of certain aging, inconsistant and injury prone Boks;
Evan Roos/Elrich Louw/Ruan Ackerman/Pepsi Buthalezi for the aging and slower Duane Vermeulen
Vincent Tshituka/Elrich Louw/C Wiese/JL Du Preez / Jaques Vermeulen for PS Du Toit if injured
Ruben Schoeman/Ruben Van Heerden/ Dan Du Preez /Jason Jenkins for the injured RG Snyman
Johan Grobler/ M Dweba as the third hooker
Grant Williams/Jaden Hendrikse/Morne vd Berg as third scrumhalf in place of the not very impressive Jantjies
Mannie Libbok/Jordan Hendrikse in place of Elton Jantjies as second best flyhalf or even in place of Handre Pollard should his form continue to dip
Their must be a place found for M Tambwe and/ or Edwil vd Merwe in the squad should Tambwe qualify
Their must be a place found in the Bok Squad for Ruan Janse Van Rensburg and/or M Simelane
Warrick Gellant/A Fassi in place of the aging and slower Willie Le Roux
Where is Frans Malherbe, is he still seriously injured, if so Thomas Du Toit must take his place?
The following players are also knocking on the Bok Door; S Senatla, L Zas, Ruan Nel, Grant Esterhuizen, Q Horn (he is a brilliant new find), Morne Smith, Einrich Nortje, Neethling Fourche, Emmanuel Tshituka and others.
The Boks should change their style of play and strategy this year and in the RWC 2023 and play a more open game. No one will be able to match them, not even the French for pace, talent and flair. But will they continue with their current I feel limited and dour attempt at tight five forward dominance and kicking game which I feel give away too much possession and results in a lot of defending and penalties against teams such as the All Black's/Aussies and the French.

No - test rugby is never played as open free flowing games unless you want to lose. In other competitions, if you lose a game, you can win the next. in test rugby the pressure is on to win every game. The game we have right now in the Boks is a no error, high pressure on the other side, no opportunity for the ref to influence the game, with little space for mistakes to cost us big. That is how it has always been payed and how it should be played. When you play against the best of another country, you respect that and thinking that basketball rugby is going to work against top players in the world is naïve.
