As an English person Tom, I loved your review and mentioning it being called Football :)
I like the board members aspect. l also love the middle part. Initially, I hated the actual playing the actual soccer game. The rules were bad. Once I figured it out, I really liked it.
I understand Tom points, but I find the match part quite exciting, as I’m never quite sure of how it will go. Calculating the score is a bit like watching a match and seeing the teams score one after the other, wondering who will prevail.

I agree. I think that's the most fun part of the game to see how you do during the matches.
I was really excited about this one. Almost backed it. Good thing i let the astronomical cost scare me off.
Feels like most portal games have a part that makes me very much dislike them. There must be people who love them, im sure.
This game is a very good implementation of FM series. If you played a lot of FM on PC, then this will be perfect for you. Tom doesent`t like it because he thinks this is soccer, and if you don`t watch a lot of football and play some manager games on PC, you can`t understand the match and the tactics, but everything about this game is exciting, specially the preparation and the game itself, when the teams scores one after another and until the final it is very exciting to see if you can win, and where you can improve your tactics and your players.
I don't agree with the board members aspect. That's real life, the board decides what happens with the club, not the manager.

@@DiceTowerEncore For me, it is (a fun element) in this game. Because it's interesting and exciting every time. And IF I don't like the result, I CAN reroll the die just for one red token. Easy-peasy. I like it. At first, I was skeptical and didn't like the dice-rolling mechanism in this game. But after a few playing sessions, I am definitely sure these random-like elements are needed to feel the game like real.
I think the thing is with this type of game you are leaning into your imagination much more then you think. It's more of a simulation game, then it is of a pure game. If you go into with the mentally of playing that it's just a board game then yeah you're gonna probably be bored. But if you go into it imagining that you are the GM and you have to deal with random issues and bad game days that just happened, and injuries that you can't predict then this game is a lot more fun. I love simulation games because I love to pretend I'm taking on that role. Yes it's frustrating that the board members get to vote on something you don't want but guess what that's how real sports go. You can house rule that you get a vote too? When I play board games I go in with my imagination to any game I play. Yes I want to win but I really like the journey that I go through each time as the story is always different. I usually agree with a lot of your reviews but this one I disagreed and I think 5 out of 10 is a low score. I could see is 6.5 or a 7 but 5 is kind of an insult. But that's just my opinion.
