Good to be back with another video. I was truly floored by the creative potential of this tiny utility device. If you enjoy messing around with expression enabled pedals as much as I do, then this thing is a must have, in my honest opinion. Hope you dig the demo, gang!
I think the ramper is going to unleash a whole new world of creativity for me, thank you for the demo Stefan, it was fascinating! That synth part at the end was just superb in stereo! Any reference to Knight Rider is also going to make me smile....:) Superb stuff, as always!
You absolutely smashed it with this demo, Stefan! This is the quickest I’ve looked to try and purchase a pedal after watching your videos and that says a lot, considering all the #stefanmademedoit feels after all your videos! Thanks for sharing so many rad sounds as usual!
Awwww, buddy! Thank you so much! Means a ton to me. Well, this is definitely an easier pedal to pull the trigger on. It's very affordable and just opens up som many cool possibilities with the gear you already have. I really hope more and more people will jump on this killer little device
I just ordered 4 :D Will take up roughly as much space on my pedalboard, as my current expression pedal... Then I can control 4 pedals, instead of just one. Game changer for me.
Expression Ramper is just a must have, if you're into expression experiments. Definitely get one. It's so much fun and opens up so many new creative paths
I've been using this with my ehx cockfight for creating filter sweeps. the cockfight wasnt getting much use lately so it's nice to have it back on the board
Damn it Stefan…When I heard of this pedal I thought I’d be ok without it haha. Man your demo really shows what I can do with my Visitor, Dweller and Dark Star on the fly. Thank man 👍❤️
Very cool to hear that the demo gave you some ideas to what can be accomplished with your own pedals through this device. It's just such a wonderful creative tool
If I ever get good enough at DIY pedals, I will create a shimolo reverb because that sounded amazing. It would have expression control for this cute, baby device of course.
That's precisely why I purchased the ZOIA in first place... to have multiple LFOs and sequencers to mess around with connected machiens (eg. Helix, CXM1978, rack units, etc)...
I personally think that's where Zoia shines as well, as a creative control unit. But Zoia is a super expensive and super complex unit, and hence isn't something that appeals to everyone. The Expression Ramper is a device that speaks to everyone. It's affordable, super intuitive to use and opens new creative doorways instantly.
@@thepedalzone I'm not comparing the two - it's useless, like a passenger airplane vs an ultralight. And I definitively have nothing against it being super affordable and intuitive. Small footprint, etc. My point was that many pedals - including the Helix platform - would GREATLY benefit from being able to have modulators that can be patched to parameters. Hence my purchase of the ZOIA.. Cheers!
As if pedalboards were not already mini synths ! I love the idea of adding LFOs to your pedals, this video is a great demonstration of what's possible, especially the Ottobit "knight rider" part ! In a few years we'll have modular racks that fit on a pedalboard ahah
Thanks, man! Happy you liked the demo. Pedals and pedalboards are definitely getting more and more powerful with every day that passes. It's a great time to be alive for us gear geeks 😊
Very good demo of this fascinating little tool 👍👍 I ordered already two of them, but delivery will not be before second week of June (hopefully) Can't wait to try them on OBNE and Pladask Pedals, or the CT5.
Yeah, I was pretty happy when I discovered that. One of my favorite things to do with Cirrus had always been hooking up an expression pedal and manually controlling that filter reverb. So when I got the Expression Ramper the first thing I absolutely had to try out was putting an LFO on that filter verb, and it turned out as beautiful as I had hoped for 😊
I already ordered one of that devices some days ago. Now I watched your video... Great! I am sure I won't regret the purchase. I am also quite interested of comparing it to my El Garatge Echo Knob! I will try to sweep between the presets of my Polymoon, use it on my Mood and on my drybell Vibe Machine. Also it can be a solution of getting my Microcosm to the next level!!!
Fantastic! Amazing how this small device creates whole new applications for some pedals. Is there a knack to getting this working with Meris pedals? I've tried to use it with my Mercury7 but can't seem to figure it out 🤔
Happy you liked the demo and the device. It’s a fun one. Regarding expression with Meris, just follow the instructions in the Meris product manual. First set the expression Ramper to heel down (which is set A to all the way down) and then set the knobs for the sound you want on Mercury7. Then set Ramper to toe up (which is B all the way up) and then set the knob positions on Mercury7 you want to ramp to. Now you’re ready to ramp with Meris 😊
Thank you! And yes, you can get awesome sounds together with the Dark Star. You can for instance set it to modulate the pitch really fast, and get unique modulated reverb pads.
Cheers! Well, a Univibe is already an LFO based effect, but if your Uni-Vibe allows for speed ramping via expression, then you could use Expression Ramper for jumping between two different speeds in One-Shot mode for instance. That's a nice way to have two different sounds instantly available. You could also use it for more glitchy speed ramp results with the Square wave or more organic movements with the triangle wave.
Excellent video Stefan! I love that guitar look and tone btw. Is that a custom pickguard or did the Jennings come that way? I’d love to have a guitar like that in my collection.
Thank you very much! It's a custom pickguard that's on it. It's made by Indra Guitars. My Jennings originally came with a standard black plastic guard. You can see that in some of my older videos 😊
The NightSky has a built-in fully fledged step sequencer. So that gives you much more than two expression points. Hence it's gonna be pretty difficult to emulate with this. You would need something like the Korg SQ-1 or the EHX 8-Step
2 questions. Is there a way to turn it on and off and on while using the effect pedal its plugged into? Also, are you going to do a video with it and the Boss sy-200? Because that would be amazing. Thanks. Great job duder
That's what you use the switch on it for. For turning the LFO movement on and off. So yeah, you can do that. Regarding use with the SY-200, I recommend you check out my demo of the SY-200. There's several examples in there, where I use the Expression Ramper together with it.
You'll still get a lot of use out of this thing with CBA pedals. The Expression Ramper actually delivers the kind of ramping you hoped you could do with CBA pedals. Instead of always ramping from minimum to maximum on a paramter, you can actually set specific start and end points for your expression with the Expression Ramper. So you can create much more controlled sound designs with this thing and you CBA pedals
In a bunch of cool ways! In most of the delay modes, expression will control the volume of the delays. So you could use Expression Ramper in one-shot mode to have two different preset mix settings just a stomp away. You could also use the Ramper's LFO modes to create trippy tremolo like tones, as they quickly fade the delay in and out. But there's also a delay mode where expression controls the resonant filter on the delay, and for that the Expression Ramper's Triangle LFO would be amazing, as it can automatically move the filter back and forth for you, for some slow atmospheric sweeps or fast psychedelic laser filters. And there's also a delay mode where expression controls the rotary effect on the delay, so there you could use Expression Ramper to control the speed of that rotary effect. Expression Ramper would be hella cool with your Belle Epoch Deluxe 😊
does this play nice with a delay with exp? wondering if i can use it to shift between a setting with fast repeats and long feedback & a setting with slower repeats at slower feedback
Expression Ramper will play as nicely as your delay pedal (or other expression enabled pedal you want to use it with) allows it. Expression Ramper can only control what the expression enabled pedal allows, so if your delay pedal allows you to take control of delay time and feedback at the same time via expression, then Expression Ramper will let you switch between your two desired settings (fast delay + long feedback and slow delay + short feedback). But if your delay pedal only lets you control for instance Feedback via expression and nothing else, then that will be the only parameter that you can control via Expression Ramper. Hope that makes sense :)
It’s awesome, but I think you need at least three of them. Maybe OBNE can build a three in one version. That would safe up some space to create even more space (see what I did here?). It would almost serve as a master controller for three very different pedals. 👽
Pedals work great with acoustic guitar. You just have to be a bit aware of feedback traps, which can happen pretty easy with higher gain drive pedals for instance.
didn't they also have a fader in a small box you could use to set expression? can it also swap between the 2 expression settings or is it continuously ramping between the 2? (question asked at 1.15 in the video, dinner time, will be back later 🤣) edit: alright yes it can in the one shot .
Yeah, the fader one you're talking about is the Expression Slider. It's a manual expression device though. The cool thing about Expression Ramper is that it can do automated expression. Happy you discovered One Shot mode, and I hope you enjoyed your dinner 😊
Good to be back with another video. I was truly floored by the creative potential of this tiny utility device. If you enjoy messing around with expression enabled pedals as much as I do, then this thing is a must have, in my honest opinion. Hope you dig the demo, gang!
OBNE, keep doing things! 'Simple', yet can open so many possibilities on any pedal with expression.
Couldn’t have said it better myself 👍
This video pushed me over the edge to get one tonight!
I'm honored to hear the video inspired you to pick one up, Brock. I'm sure you'll have a ton of fun with it 😊
I think the ramper is going to unleash a whole new world of creativity for me, thank you for the demo Stefan, it was fascinating! That synth part at the end was just superb in stereo! Any reference to Knight Rider is also going to make me smile....:) Superb stuff, as always!
This looks and sounds great. Can't wait to try this on Dweller to get some crazy rhythmic effects by moving between two stretch settings
Go get your Stretch on!! Think it would be wild with Dweller 💚
Wow, it's like adding a preset to a pedal with expression input! Plus more :)
Exactly! This device is just AWESOME!
I did not want this video to end honestly.
Extremely kind of you! Thank you!
Always serving up entertainment, information and new worlds.
Man! Ultra kind of you. Thank you 🙏
That's cool that you did a synth demo with the Ramper at the end. Thanks for another great demo Stefan. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Cheers! Always try to showcase a product in as many scenarios as possible, so it means a lot that you appreciate it.
I like your playing style so much! Thx for another journey through the aether!
Thank you kindly! ❤

Very, very useful actually! As always, a great video Stephan.
Thank you!! And yes, I agree. It’s such a useful device 😊🙌
I just ordered 4 :D
Will take up roughly as much space on my pedalboard, as my current expression pedal...
Then I can control 4 pedals, instead of just one. Game changer for me.
That's dedication right there! 4 times the fun is heading your way 😊🙌
Ok this is a need. Thanks for demonstrating.
My pleasure! And yes, Expression Ramper is a must-have if you want to get the most out of your expression enabled pedals
Well I guess I'm off to Reverb to buy another pedal. Thanks Stefan. Maybe two. That Ottobit sounds great.
Expression Ramper is just a must have, if you're into expression experiments. Definitely get one. It's so much fun and opens up so many new creative paths
@@thepedalzone Thanks. I look forward to using this wonderful new tool.
Thanks for the video 💜💜💜 we just ordered one
Happy you enjoyed the vid. It's just a game changing device for everyone who's into expression manipulation :)
can't wait for it to arrive ;) great video as always!
Awesome to hear you got one on the way. It's so much fun! And thanks for the kind words about the video. Always means a lot 🙏
Great video, man! Thank you for the break down. It went from being on my list to the top of my list 👍

See, that's the amazing thing about this little device. It can truly breathe completely new life into the pedals you already own.
Just got mine yesterday! You know I'm gonna plug it in the Cirrus first baby!
Now I'm gonna buy the afterneath v3 so I can use it on that too. New doors are open. Now to plug it into my infinite jets!
Awesome! Experimentation is what makes this device truly amazing.

Please do! Somebody needs to make the first dedicated Shimolo pedal 😃

This is the gizmo we need in 2021
Most definitely 👌
if this thing could accept midi clock, and the rate knob could be used for time divisions, would be super awesome!
