I personally love Godzilla Vs. Space Godzilla it was my first Godzilla movie I ever seen as a kid and it still has a special place in my heart. Even if it’s not a super popular choice

I really just wanted to say thank you for these videos! Thanks to you, I am becoming a FULL ON Godzilla fan and I am hyped for Minus One when it eventually comes out in the UK. I have been an on and off fan since Godzilla 98 when I seen it for the first time when it was on the T.V. in the Early 2000s, I was a kid at the time and loved it. I forgot about Godzilla very quickly after it until it The Monsterverse Godzilla came out in 2014, I went to see that in the cinema with friends who were more into the franchise than me. Again, I haven't watched since until I started watching James Rolfe's Godzilla videos and then eventually came across your videos last week!

I don't know if this an unpopular opinion or not, but to me, the MogeGoji suit is the definitive Godzilla design. Also, iirc, the U in Moguera is silent, like with Anguirus, spoken 'Mogera', hence the Godzilla suit's name 'MogeGoji'.
One of the pieces of my on-going Godzilla collection is a plush Baby Godzilla. It is my favorite and watches all the movies with me. I am be going on 62 years old this year, but I love Godzilla and actively collect what I can afford. You would love him! I think.

He did left out one person in this film, that doctor of the Project T-the main antagonist first appear to be decent man but he kidnapped Miki Saegusa where he planned to have Godzilla destroy things for him thru her psyche so we didn't get his true intention and the source of power he had in his tower that is feeding Space Godzilla when he arrived.
I like to think that this movie is about Godzilla making peace with his demons by facing his dark mirror. An evil, destructive monster king whose goal is to conquer the world and reshape the world to destroy all of life for his own creation. Spacegodzilla is a threat to Godzilla's new purpose in life of being a father.
This docuseries uve been doin on the old school Godzilla films is really well thought out. Space Godzilla is my favorite Kaiju and i would be hyper ecstatic if he were reimagined and retconned into a new Godzilla film. They gotta do him right tho!
It's interesting that the alternate story ideas actually give Miki Saegusa something to do in the main plot. She's a recurring character in the whole Heisei series but she never actually does anything that matters!
Ahhh, the second Godzilla film that I ever watched after Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla 2 back in my youth. Still one of my favourite films from the series.
Im at a weird point in my life where Im watching a lot of video documentaries about godzilla films. and whats weird about them is that I was born in 1998, and have a lot of memories and can recall a lot of godzilla monsters... But i dont remember the films themselves. I didnt particularly look for godzilla movies, I mostly just watched whatever was on tv whenever i could. But I very distinctly remember seeing scenes from a lot of different godzilla films growing up, and I dont even remember where all of them were from until I eventually watch the right documentary. For instance, I very much remember seeing Mothra Leo turn into his armored light speed form and doing some power rangers level stuff. But i dont remember NOTHING ELSE from that movie.
I know it's a reupload, but I still watched it again. I have a bad habit of putting on the playlist in the background while doing something else as I enjoy the history of Godzilla. So when are you doing Monsterverse & Shin Godzilla?
My feelings on this movie are very mixed. I love Spacegodzilla as a kaiju and his design is top notch, but the actual movie is easily the lowest point of the Heisei series, and it's shortcomings are all the more obvious when you compare it against the previous movie (vs Mechagodzilla) which is arguably one of standouts of that continuity.
Indeed, vs spacegodzilla and vs mothra for me were the weakest of the heisei era (with vs king ghidorah coming 3rd weakest) but at least vs king ghidorah and vs mothra had more elements to them that I can enjoy more than vs spacegodzilla. In fact I'm pretty convinced the mediocre reviews and results of vs spacegodzilla in comparison to the previous 3 heisei films was part of the reason (along with the American G film being in the works) was why toho had the 7th film be the last one. If they went on any further they would of had another "dark ages of godzilla" on their hands but in heisei form.
Question. When is the next History of vid? Im curious to see what would be put on vids about later films like Shin, the anime trilogy, and such. TV shows would be cool too.
I know he doesn't fit with the aesthetics of the rest of the Heisei Era but I always loved the design of Little Godzilla, he's absolutely adorable and a massive upgrade from Minilla or Minya or whatever that thing was called

I like to think the Yuki special (which must be one of the most virulent chemical weapons ever) inspired a similar strategy strategy in Shin Godzilla a movie I have very mixed feelings about. This movie is a bit of a slow starter but ramps up fairly quickly. The action is well handled except where the budget curtailed it. I have happily sat down and watched this more than once and I'll watch it again what more can you say

I love how Legendary has made King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla not only massive, but also very terrifying looking and an actual threat to Earth compared to their historical appearances. Imagine what a monsterverse Spacegodzilla or Destoroyah would look like?

Not some "threat to the human race" real world problem like nuclear war (Godzilla) or pollution (Hedorah), but something significant to Godzilla himself as a character. Destoroyah represents Godzilla's own past come back to haunt him, and Spacegodzilla represents Godzilla's own worst instincts given form and turned against him. Sort of like how Ghidorah is the chaos to Godzilla's order, Spacegodzilla represents the more tyrannical end of that line. While Mechagodzilla represents the will of any given civilization to adapt and survive (for better or worse), I guess one could say that Destoroyah represents mortality in his quest to life wipe everything he sees. Or perhaps he's just confused by the new, oxygen-rich environment he's woken up to and wants to go back to the anaerobic, Precambrian world he remembers. Lol
@@watchinglearner Yeah, and ““A Colossal Undiscovered Threat” tells me that Scar King isn’t the only antagonist in the movie. Its either that Flying overpowered Godzilla species, Shimu or possibly Spacegodzilla that is hidden in Hollow Earth. If Spacegodzilla is gonna be in the movie, the origins would probably be a bit different and along the lines of Spacegodzilla being himself frozen in a comet that eventually crashed into Hollow Earth some millions of years ago and was eventually discovered by Scar King where Scar King uses the creature as a secret weapon against Earth and anyone who challenges him. Thats a good origin of sort. Plus, Scar King using Spacegodzilla against society wouldn’t be ruled out especially as Scar King is probably extremely unhinged and that insane to use something like Spacegodzilla against Humanity and Godzilla and Kong.
This was my first Japanese Godzilla film, though I saw it as a dubbed. Always loved it always will. It definitely is slow. But when it's the monsters it's wonderful.
Rewatching this video, I realize this movie has my favorite trope-that of the protagonist fighting an evil clone/version of themselves. And while Godzilla has had foes similar to something like this, it never was so abrupt as mentioned. Thus I should really like this film, but I remember watching it years ago and being quite disappointed. And frankly it is because there's a good film here, trying to get out, but various things here and there stop it from being better. And I do think it is Mogera unfortunately, as for Mecha vs Goji-there's only two monsters front and center duking it out for the most part and here the movie has to make time for Mogera that it distracts away from Space Godzilla and thus doesn't make the villain feel all too important either.
Oh yeah space Godzilla was popular. I remember that being one of the main toys I would play with and they were always in the video games. Just a natural boss monster for video games because they're the main character but evil trope and with it being space they have more room to do weird ideas like that portal sucking it back in. In my headcanon space godzilla is the ultimate final boss for Godzilla while desotroyah is a secret boss that is the challenge mode. To use street fighter as a example, space Godzilla is akuma and desotroyah is oni.

Space Gojira is so cool, his sounds and design The journey of Goji-Junior is an emotional one, telling him to go with Gojira for his own good and seeing Miki hug him one last time was sad It's not my favourite of the Heisei run but it's still a fun movie that people should see at least once ^-x The 90s were a really cool time for Godzilla, just everything about life at the time seems so innocent and fun

I love this movie, Yes it’s goofy, yes the budget wasn’t on par with past heisei movies but its really fun. The only thing i don’t like is SpaceGodzilla’s roar i wish it was similar to Godzilla’s roar. I also like the updated Godzilla Jr design he’s adorable and has character to him. Besides his design in Destroyah looks better so I’m ok with it.
Yeah I mean if mechagodzilla was in it there would be godzilla, baby godzilla, space godzilla and mechagodzilla. That's four godzillas. And idk about you but I have always felt mechagodzilla is actually godzillas nemesis. In the japanese movies godzilla almost never has a problem with ghidorah. I think final wars is the only time he almost lost to ghidorah. Godzilla seems to be weak against mechs. Cause mechagidorah beats him
A lackluster entry in my opinion. Space Godzilla was just too gimmicky for me. The saddest part of it all was Orochi as the main villain from outer space would have been AWESOME.
One of only heshi films I love that the majority Hate on par as 1998 Godzilla versus megalon vs hedorah and godzillas revenge which is the only film that deserves its universal loathing of its existence.
My dad literally hid this movie from me. I remember being 12 and seeing a toy of it in like 2008 and my dad telling me it was from a fake Godzilla movie!
I don't think that this movie was the lowest point of the heisi era,it's a decent movie all around. I think the real weak area is the plot element involving Space Godzilla's reason for coming to earth,it makes no real sense. I can see if Space Godzilla believed itself to be the true Godzilla and seeing the actual Godzilla as an impostor that took over it's territory and is returning to take it back,or that he's a geneticly engineered bioweapon created by a new alien race that either wants to conquer or destory the human race
Here before all the good clips are made to be removed by people who don’t realize that their fan base is aging and the appreciation and precipitation is nothing but admiration and saturation.
It is funny how all these spliced G-cell monster forms to have those dual small tusks coming out at the end sides of the mouth. (Spacegodzilla, Biollante’s full form, and Destoroyah’s final form)

I personally love this movie. Space Godzilla is one of my favorite monsters.
My dad literally hid this movie from me. I remember being 12 and seeing a toy of it in like 2008 and my dad telling me it was from a fake Godzilla movie!
I have a copy of the Spacegodzilla, Death Corona MTG card. It's currently only worth about $5. I wouldn't trade it for anything though.

I don't think that this movie was the lowest point of the heisi era,it's a decent movie all around. I think the real weak area is the plot element involving Space Godzilla's reason for coming to earth,it makes no real sense. I can see if Space Godzilla believed itself to be the true Godzilla and seeing the actual Godzilla as an impostor that took over it's territory and is returning to take it back,or that he's a geneticly engineered bioweapon created by a new alien race that either wants to conquer or destory the human race

I always thought this was a pretty solid movie. My personal low point of the Heisei era would be Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. Weakest story and I was never a fan of the Ghidorah fights...
We didn't need to see Godzilla trying to free Little Godzilla or Little Godzilla getting freed. Seeing Yuki's naked ass was much more important.
