Frankenstein vs. Godzilla. I would have loved to have seen that. PS, I'm am glad you made this video to spotlight these unmade films. people need to know about all of this.
Always had a soft spot for Bride of Godzilla (1956), Tokyo SOS: Godzilla's Suicide Strategy (1976), Godzilla vs. the Asuka Fortress (1979-1985), and Godzilla vs Cthulhu (1994-1995).
Vs. Berserk and Shin Gojira Raids Again seem really cool. Maybe Shin 2 would’ve been an Eva crossover? Not everything needs to be a crossover but it would harken back to the original King Kong vs Godzilla
The entire opening uses the theme. It has the Lee England Jr. Opening that was used for his SmackDown debut and most recently his match for New Year's against the Great Muta.
I've never before heard of Batman meets Godzilla but it just jumped to shared #1 spot on my "movies I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really wish were made" list with Jodorowsky's Dune.
"The aliens, evil Godzilla, and Crazy Jesus then wreak havoc across the world" was a sentence I never expected to hear but will stay with me until death.
I always wondered what the Gryphon for the unmade Godzilla 1994 would have actually looked like in real life. Like the concept of a giant, shape-shifting monster would have been crazy to make with practical effects in the 90s, so I can't help but think if they would use CGI for the transformations like the T-1000 or they'd just make them fully CGI creature.
As a huge Godzilla fan, and even knowing about all this unmade projects, it’s always a pleasure watch your videos. I met your channel from your Daredevil comic videos, but boy, we have a lot of tastes in common. What an amazing content, thanks and keep it going! Greetings from México.
Seriously love the early drafts and unused proposals for Godzilla movies. So many wonderfully experimental and creative ideas that could all work as movies today, all locked up in a vault somewhere! At least a handful have been trickling out and shared in full in more recent Japanese books. I can only hope "Godzilla vs. Gamera" will come to pass one day, as well as a movie featuring Bagan.
So love how you had the Shinsuke Nakamura wwe theme played in this Godzilla video!!!! As a fan of Both The King Of The Monsters Godzilla and The King Of Strong Style Shinsuke Nakamura this is badass
@@ProjektTakuThere is a video ( forgot the name of it ) about Shin Goji's multiple forms, and that his 8th form would've led him to become a god-like being.
@@Weirdman20 yeah, seems to me like they cut it off at the most traditional form with the 4th one. But I kinda wanted to see the 5th form with all the little mini godzilla humanoids.

Really cool video. You pretty much hit all the scrapped scripts on the head. Maybe after your Gamera video you can make a unmade Gamera movie video too. Thankfully there is not as much as Godzilla, but there are some really nice ones out there. Phoenix, Wyvern (W), Garasharp, Ice Men and so forth.
@@MattDraper I did a AI visualization of the film not too long ago on my other channel, its not perfect but it may help giving us an idea for how it could have looked. I really do like to wonder how "Jesus" and Godzilla would have looked in the movie. th-cam.com/video/L7M8kA4RVrg/w-d-xo.html
I love these "unmade films of" videos, I hope to see one of Predator 👀 I personally wished we had the Anguirus, Baragon, Varan version of GMK, I could see them as like guardian hounds of Earth. Besides, those three Kaiju don't get enough love, especially Baragon and Varan.
WOW!!!! New here!! Your site is fantastic as well as your images of GODZILLA!!! The classic old series '50 through 1969 were the best! Some of the best moments were legendary. Even when the films didn't stick to the timeline per say the films still carried the threat of nature out of control and a world in Kaos. Finding Godzilla buried under ice, snow, underground, a volcano side, a side of a mountain , coal mine or the sea was way COOL back in the day!!! By the way Godzilla's BEST LOOK was in GODZILLA VS the THING!!! You couldn't find a more scary, commanding, sinister, creepy and beautiful covering!!! I'm talking old school here.
Great video! With some reworking Bride of Godzilla could've worked as a Zone Fighter episode. Batman Vs Godzilla could've worked better with a giant Mecha Batman lol. Honestly I think we might see some of these later unused heisei concepts in Toho's new film Godzilla Zero which I herd is supposed to partial take place during ww2
Sounds to me like DC should make that Batman versus Godzilla story into a comic. I mean if there adapting things like Batman, 89 and Superman 78, I’m sure tons of people would love to see Adam West’s Batman battle Godzilla.
I'd love to see a Gamera Retrospective, from the Campy Showa Era to the Hesei Films that had movies that many consider to be even better then the Heisei Era Godzilla films at the time, to the Singular Millenium film about a Boy and his turtle. Would be fitting as a new anime series for the big turtle is coming soon.
Just when I thought you'd never talk about the King of the Monsters again, you surprise us. Still, Unmade movies with Godzilla are bound to be interesting.
Just a few observations - Steve Miner stop motion Godzilla wouldve been way better than the one we got in the 90# -Godzilla vs Cthulhu?!?! -if Godzilla is canonically type 1 diabetic than Goji and I have something in common
Not a movie but I do want to see an adaptation of the comic "Godzilla vs the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" as an kick-ass animated feature. Even a fan-animatic of it would sate me especially the final act fight scene between the Megazord, Godzilla and King Ghidorah (no duh, right?).
Hi Matt Draper. Love your video but your info on King of Monsters: Resurrection of Godzilla was incorrect. It wasn't going to be a remake at all. It was written in 1977-1978 and the story was a precursor of what would become "The Return on Godzilla" in 1984. But there is a rumor that Toho thought about doing a color remake of Godzilla though. Toho Kingdom just updated the info. This info is also found in a book called "Writing Japanese Monsters' by John Lemay. Just wanted to let you know. I hope this helped.
Thank you so much for making things like this. I am not going to watch it now, but am checking in to the first minute so youtube gives you credit for that first day view. Personally, I hadn't watched a godzilla movie in about 25 years & recently picked up the showa collection from criterion to get back into it. Because of that I have saved all your godzilla vids to a list to binge watch through after I finish watching the showa ones, so I can watch all your godzilla videos in order.
God(zilla)! That intro song is so strong. Now, I knew japanese media could get crazy, but boy, these unmade movies hammer that point home! Mixed wether I wanted these or not
I did like some of the ideas proposed. Like the idea of a dead Godzilla washing up on shore only to be revived. That idea that even death isn't permanent for Godzilla really adds to the godlike aspect. Also the idea of the vengeful ghost of the first Godzilla is cool. I would have loved more movies in the Heisei line too. Now with little Godzilla having become the king of the monsters being more friendly towards humanity. Having more adventures like the Showa Era. They could even revive the old Promethian idea. A descendent of Doctor Frankenstein creates a monster from various large reptile parts, mostly crocodiles and alligators. But it of course gets out of control and the new Godzilla needs to stop it.
Honestly the original 54’ Goji somehow coming back to fight the current Godzilla is such a metal idea to end to the heisei series. We got Vs Destroyah though so it all worked it
The aborted "death by diabetes" plot always cracks me up! 😂 And I find it fascinating how Yoshimitsu Banno, banned from making another Godzilla movie after Godzilla vs. Hedorah, STILL actually managed a few years before his passing to play a big part as executive producer of the recent Legendary Monsterverse series that finally gave us a good American Godzilla!
Not sure if it’s just a rumor, fact, or a what if, but I would love to see a Clive barker version of Godzilla. I do admit, the video that one person made was cool, (though I am not a huge fan of AI art) but seeing a Godzilla that is a lovecraftian being of the end of the world sounds dark and amazing at the same time. What are your thoughts on this?
I saw that AI video on TH-cam. And to answer your question. Yes, this was going to be a thing. In the early 1990s when Tristar bought the rights to Godzilla, several writers wrote their pitches for the film and one of them being Clive Barker, famous for the Hellraiser series of novels and films. Little is known about what his story entailed but what we do know is that it was supposed to be set in 1999 New York, right as the new millennium begins which would bring upon the End of Days, which is where Godzilla would come along and bring about a path of destruction never before seen by man. The information comes from Steve Ryfle's 1998 book "Japan's Favorite Mon-Star: The Unauthorized Biography of the "Big G" where he documents the long development of Hollywood's attempts to make a Godzilla movie.
Which of these unmade Godzilla movies do you wish were made?
Batman Vs. Godzilla, Frankenstein Vs. Godzilla, and Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla are my choices.
Frankenstein vs. Godzilla. I would have loved to have seen that. PS, I'm am glad you made this video to spotlight these unmade films. people need to know about all of this.
You left out some films. Maybe you should do a part two.

Jodorowsky's Dune would also go hand in hand with God's Godzilla and A Space Godzilla for how they are the trippiest unmade Godzilla movies.
Godzilla meeting Frankenstein, Batman and Jesus? Only a great Matt Draper video would get me to know this information!
10:33 man. Even Godzilla can’t afford insulin these days.
"The aliens, evil Godzilla, and Crazy Jesus then wreak havoc across the world" was a sentence I never expected to hear but will stay with me until death.
Batman meets Godzilla sounds like one of the greatest ideas and plots for a movie ever. I want to go to a parallel timeline where that movie was made.
its kinda happeneing now with godzilla vs the justice league... a teaser dropped a week ago i think.
No way in hell "Godzilla vs Cthulhu" was genuinely pitched. I'm in awe.
If they went through with it, Heisei Godzilla would’ve been the strongest version of Godzilla
Well they made it happen in a comic in a crossover between Godzilla and Cthulhu: Death May Die. Guess who won.
Man you're really just knocking videos out this year! And with still the same level of Matt Draper quality we all expect.
Never thought I’d see the word “cockblocked” in a video about Godzilla.
I'm amused by the use of Shinsuke Nakamura's WWE entrance music in the background for the first three and a half minutes or so.
Babe wake up! A new Matt Draper Godzilla video just dropped!
