I’m the same way with needing to get out but still somehow staying home too often! I find with my depression it can be hard to motivate myself to do things I enjoy/things that make me happy, even if I know I want to do them. Sometimes forcing yourself to do something that will improve your headspace is needed :•) been learning that a lot recently

jack edwards! i love his videos. I go through phases in which I do not read a book for months and then there is a time when I read a lot of books in a short time and i would love to read a few classics, but i haven't dared to do it yet. Greetings to Delilah, she is such a sweet little Girl. Reminds me of Juno from Jolly.

I'm one of those people who much prefers a hardback. I love my books looking fresh and not damaged and it's so much easier to keep a hardback looking nice. Also I think they are so much nicer to read because they are weighty and solid to hold.

I love realistic narratives too. My recs are: A Fraction of the Whole, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (super short read but so inspiring), Amy Hempel's The Collected Stories (short stories), and The Art of Drowning (collection of poems, not as depressing as it sounds).

I’m also a paperback, spine cracking gal. I love the look of a worn in, well loved book. I go in and out of reading like you as well and as I have ADHD and can’t focus on books sometimes, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook while following along with the physical book.
My two favourite books are Little Women (fell in love with it when I was Delilah’s age) and The Secret History by Donna Tartt.

Also, I’m the same with paperbacks, I bend them just the same and I avoid hardbacks as much as I can.

There are 2 beautiful books that I love with all my heart! I really enjoyed "Where the Crawdads Sing", and these books fill in that same place in my heart when I read them!
One is "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr, which is gorgeous. I got it when I was too young to understand the significance of the subject matter, but now that I've gotten the chance to grow into the contents, I can't get my nose out of it.
Another beautiful book is "Butter Honey Pig Bread" by Francesca Ekwuyasi. I often take months and months to read books for the same reasons as you have experienced in the past, but I read this book in 3 days, and couldn't put it down. It made me cry, made my heart twist and turn, and has some of the most well written passages I have ever read.
I also wanted to say thank you! I have been watching you since your diy video on how to make a galaxy shirt out of bleach, and I always look forward to cozying up at home and watching your vlogs when the notification pops up. Thank you for sharing your beautiful, comforting, and relatable self!

Book wise I highly recommend the Rosie project (and the sequels the Rosie effect and result) by Graeme simsion (especially read this if you like eleanor oliphant!) curious incident of the dog in the night by Mark haddon (this is my all time favourite), the midnight library by Matt haig and the girls by Lisa Jewell. I use superfacialist vitamin c eye cream which is nice! Such a lovely relaxing vlog, I hope your sleep improves. Sending love

I also loved crawdads, it’s so beautiful! I’d recommend The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton for some gothic historical mystery, and also The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex, another mystery based on a true story and following the women left behind by the tragedy. Loved your book tour, I’m also getting some shelves soon and this gave me major excitement for them😊

I struggle sleeping sometimes as well and what helps me is to try and get to bed earlier, ideally an hour before I want to (hopefully) be going to sleep and reading. I find that extra time before going to bed without any screen time and just reading helps you unwind and rests your eyes more and you don't feel as 'switched on' as you do getting straight into bed and trying to get to sleep. P.S. You don't need to use 'eye' cream, it's all just marketing, just use your normal moisturiser around your eyes as well. x

I’ve been highly stressed with life decisions at the minute so this vlog is so very badly needed. Really looking forward to the comfort of your vlogmas 🥰 also regarding books,’ I do prefer a paperback BUT if it’s a book I love and will be a keeper that I want to take care of, I’d prefer a hardback. For example I buy the illustrated big Harry Potter books and when I’m reading I’ll just take the cover off 🙂
    Also also!! Download goodreads,
It’s very satisfying to see how much you’ve read in the year and to keep track of what you’ve enjoyed

I often wonder why we collect books. Very rarely do I read a book more than once. I’m currently reading a book, and I’m stopping myself from reading it too fast, because the next book by that author won’t get here for a few more days.I’m currently reading novels set in the 40’s, during 2nd world war.
Yep, I’m struggling with sleep too. Dough, you are sooooooo lucky!

I recently started to get really into Asian authors and their writing style, very different from the western style in my opinion. Some of my favourites so far:
    - Almond by Won-pyung Sohn
    - Kim Jiyoung born in 1982 by Cho Nam-joo
    - The dog who dare to dream by Sun-mi Hwang (very different, the main character is infact a dog, but so good and sad)
    - Sweet bean paste by Durian Sukegawa
    - Convenience store woman by Sayaka Murata

I don't like hoarding and I never reread books so it makes sense for me and I feel less bad when I don't like a book because I can just return it. But seeing all your beautiful books on your shelf makes me wish I had more of own!
I actually prefer hardcovers, I find them easier to bend!

    love the book content!!
    I crack the spine
I used to dog-ear but now use bookmarks
    Definitely prefer paperback!
& Half a world away is one of my favourite books too!

My favorite eye cream (I've used 10+ jar) is Martina Gebhardt Eye Care. I use it at night time because it's very rich but I swear that my eyes look much better in the morning, plus it's 100% green. I highly recommend it!
I'm 100% team paperback and I also break spines, I feel it's easier to read them when lying down and I mainly read in bed 😂 And I feel the same about Sally Rooney, I felt so disappointed as I adored the tv show. Buying books can be expensive! In my city in Italy we have little book "houses" in parks where you can leave and lent books! You take them, read them and then bring them back for other people to read!

I feel like books are such a personal taste and much like the way we take our tea or coffee - respect the opinions of others even if you strongly disagree.
On that note, I HATED Eleanor Oliphant, it was one of the only books I have not been able to finish, but I just could not get into her voice haha. I know I am in the minority with that.
    Thanks for sharing :)

recommending "it ends with us" by colleen hoover! i thought it would be juvenile because i just hit my 30s but i couldn't put the book down! - 5 strangers you meet in heaven and tuesdays with morrie by mitch albom are also so so good
also---if you take a hair dryer to those stickers, they will peel right off!

Honestly I have used the Cetaphil gel eye cream and haven't looked back. Nourishing but gentle and great under makeup.

you could enjoy 1q84 by murakami, give it a try! also, anything by Banana Yoshimoto and Kazuo Ishiguro. i would recommend a great classic such as 100 years of solitude too, though, because i think it aged pretty well and it's still really enjoyable nowadays

I really enjoyed hearing about your favourite books and will definitely add lots of these to my list 😄 Thank you for listing them in the description! I think we have quite a similar taste in books. I absolutely looooved Eleanor Oliphant!! I also wasn't a fan of 'Normal People' and felt like I was in the minority with that 🤭 I recently read a book called 'Anxious People' (Fredrik Backman) that I really enjoyed. I'd also highly recommend 'The Midnight Library' 👌 xx

A perfect way to start my annual leave for the week. Exciting times was one of my favourites from last year, finished it in 2 days. Was also recommended Betty from a girl in Waterstones after discussing Where the Crawdads sing x

I'm a historical fiction with romance girl, also love a good mystery, Christian historical romances I love, Grace Livingston Hill is one of my all time favorite authors, Traci Peterson's Daughters of the Loom is a favorite. But that being said it's lovely that you read...whatever you choose to read. Everyone one likes different books...and some we love the same. No judgement here😊! My favorite Christmas read is Partners by Grace Livingston Hill. It's a sweet heart touching story, that I love.

My hormone imbalance really effected my sleep for a long time. The imbalances caused high anxiety, depression and fatigue. I had alot of stress in my life at the time which caused the changes in my body. I firstly recommend to NOT STRESS! 😣 then maybe do a hormone test just to make sure they are not imbalanced. Try to stay positive and to not over think everything 🤍

Yay! Have been looking forward to this vlog! Thanks for the recommendations - definitely have some new books to add to my ‘to read’ list now 😬😅. Eleanor Oliphant is also one of my absolute favourite books 📚 SO GOOD!
A while ago I got into reading Agatha Christie books and although they are hard work to read at first, once you get into the style of them they are so good! Would recommend!

I am a hardbacks and floppy paperbacks over everything kind of girl!!! When I found out people like paperbacks over hardbacks, I was shocked…still am sort of. I don’t get it!
Have you looked into Writers and Lovers by Lily King? I feel like that could be a potential winner for you! ☺️

I definitely can relate to your struggles with getting good nights of sleep. I'm a really light sleeper and tend to wake up in the middle of the night unable to fall back asleep. One thing that's helped me the last couple of weeks is cbd oil. I use one with cbd and melatonin right before going to bed and I've been able to sleep through most nights or at least fall back asleep more quickly. Maybe that's something you can try as well 🥰
Sending lots of love from Germany 💕
