I’,m ty radcliff from Pittsburg. I,m 79 years old. I came to know the lord at age 15. I was moved to tears several times thru the Sermon. I pray that god will use you to bring others to him. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed your wisdom. See you in heaven and we will have plenty of time to talk.

James 3:13. And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven
If Christ is coming down why would we go up to heaven only Christ God and His hosts are in the Throne of God Heaven There are three Heavens Noah opened up the windows of Heaven Heaven is in the firmament and Heaven is here on Earth there will be a new Heaven and Earth but we will be here on Earth on heaven when Christ returns to earth and rules and Reigns

About 15 years ago I would listen to pastor Begg’s sermons daily for years. I never once felt it a waste if time. And for no good reason or bad for that matter I drifted away. Like an unlimited amount of water available and my insatiable thirst i have I recently returned to Alistair Begg’s sermons. I look back that my time had been wasted without his sermons. I could listen and sometimes do before I get up or go to sleep, in the car, while working. God bless this great man

Back then gold was “the” gift given to kings, myrrh was associated with the high priests , and incense was burned to gods. These wise men knew the gifts they where bringing and exactly who they where bringing them to. I believe with all my heart they had accepted this baby (our Lord and Savior) as KING, HIGH PRIEST, and GOD. I truly believe they left baby Jesus with new hearts and minds created by our FATHER in heaven . Merry Christmas everybody. :)

The Magi first saw the star at it's rising just before the sunrise but when they reached Bethlehem about the end of the day the star was overhead. It would take approximately 9 month to reach this configuration. Kepler figured out that the star was a conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Pisces first visible from the end of March until December 7BC. The astrological date and time of His birth is March 27 7BC 3:28pm, 4 days after the spring equinox.

The wise men were Jews who were waiting for the Messiah to be born. That is why they wanted to worship Him, because they were Jewish. The brought gold because He would be King, Frankincense because He would be High Priest, and Myrrh because He would die.

The bible no where says three Magi, it says Wise Men and no where does it mention three. They theorize from the three gifts. Sad we do not stick to what the Bible says period. Daniel was a wise man and in
Daniel 2:27 he makes a distinction between the Wise Men, Astrologers, magicians and soothsayers. Daniel and his companions weren't magi, short for magicians. They were Wise Men.

Only one hiccup in a great message: Luke 2:39 (LEB): And when they had completed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.
Joseph, Mary and Jesus didn't go back to Bethlehem after they fulfilled the requirements of the Law when Jesus was about a month old. They went back to Nazareth.
That's why the Magi needed it and were "jazzed" when the star reappeared.
Solid gospel message, though, from one of my favorite Teachers.

    • @judylloyd7901
      @judylloyd7901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The gospel of Matthew has the story of them fleeing to Egypt after the wise men's visit, until the death of Herod, after which they returned to the land of Israel and settled in Nazareth.
Jesus could have been a few years old by then, as we don't know how old He was when the wise men arrived in Bethlehem. The wise men could have come AFTER the presentation and offering in the temple when Jesus was just over a month old.
Luke omits that part of the story, for whatever reason. Mark and John omit the whole record of the birth of Jesus, and pick up the narrative at John the Baptist's preaching in the wilderness, (apart from the first 14 verses where John the Apostle declares the deity of Christ).
      😁😁😁

  • @flimsyjimnz

Interesting they knew He had been born (for they saw His star) yet went to jerusalem asking *where* - they didnt go to Bethlehem because, I presume, they didnt have access to Micah's prophecy. Thus we can rule out they were 'descendants' of Daniel, as some claim.

  • @rocketscientisttoo

In all that man does, motive is the key. So when we search the Scriptures do we have a Berean's heart or are we just spinning 'our' wheels? The Magi took a long time to arrive before the 'child' Jesus living in a house, Mt 2:9-11.

The Wise men/Kings definitely knows who's Jesus Christ is!you can see it in thier gifts, and came from very a far place. The Saviour is not already a baby but a child! They took years to come and why did Herodes ordered to kill the children from 2years below? He based it from the time they saw the star.

Question: Why were the wisemen seeking to find the new born King of the Jews?

  • @BAM-jc7uy
    @BAM-jc7uy ปีที่แล้ว

the bottom line...the Father sent the Son the entourage, the presents befitting the King of the Jews, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords to "make it clear" the honor due the Son of God.
Our God directs the steps, the thrones, the heart, etc of man. However the Father allowed/moved the wise men/magi to make the trip loaded with gifts befitting this KING of kings and bow down to Him....these men were obedient to the call of God the Father. Will these men be called Righteous??? QUEST: Did Jesus grow up in rags, poor, totally relying on the wages of a high end carpenter??

Very good, thank you very much. Also, remember that Daniel's knowledge and interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream saved all the wise men's lives. Those same wise men were likely alive to know about the substance of the king's dreams including the statue of kingdoms of chapter 2 and the successive kingdoms re[resented by beasts of chapters 7 and 8 as well as, perhaps, the prophecy of Nebuchadnezzar going mad and the prophecy at Belshazzar's feast. If not the same wise men, then their descendants probably paid attention to this wisdom from Daniel, plus the prophecies later in the book. Remember there are about 135 specific prophecies in chapter 11 that would have come to pass in history before the birth of Jesus. So the wise men, if they were from Persia, were likely familiar with Daniel's predictions about 400 years before. Moreover, Daniel 9 records the prophecy which tells the specific timing of the Messiah's coming (69 weeks from the command to rebuild Jerusalem and the walls, likely that command found in Nehemiah). The wise men of Daniel's day knew he had survived the lion's den and that his three Jewish friends had survived the burning furnace. This knowledge about Daniel's God and the concept of a Messiah to come from Jacob, specifically his son Judah (Genesis 49:10, Numbers 24, etc.) was likely passed down to the Persian wise men alive when Jesus was born. It is fascinating to consider the influence Daniel likely had on the wisest men from the Babylonian and Medo-Persian kingdoms. Just like Mr. Begg preached, God could have used that knowledge to alert them to what was happening. I'm glad how he talked about how God works in various ways in our hearts at specific times. Blessings.

I believe Daniel actually tells us who the wise men were. They knew that the signs and the times would be written in the stars. They are the remnant of the wise men who were with Daniel in Babylon who were entrusted with Daniel's writings and charged with waiting for them to come to completion.

In Matthew 2 ,for the wise men it was all about the star . Their wisdom was such that when a new star appeared in the night sky they had every confidence it was never there before . In addition how had the star lead them ? When they got to Jerusalem the star must have disappeared ,resulting in them making local inquiries and Herod making enquiries to those familiar with the writings of Moses and the prophets. As they set out on the journey to Bethlehem the star reappeared ( Matthew 2 v9 10) . Notice in verse 10 how seeing the star again gave them " exceeding great joy "
. Ever since Balaam had recorded that prophesy ( 1400bc) someone somewhere was watching for that star as it was to herald the destruction of many nations . What relevance does this bit of cute trivia have for us today?
Revelation 14 speaks of three messages given by three angels in succession. Revelation 18 v1 to 3 is the power of God supporting those giving the second message and 18 v 4 is the power of God supporting the third message . The first message is an individual thing between God and the bible student in which the student participates in requesting God to write the ten commandments on their heart . This group will then with signs and wonders confirming will then present the 2nd 3rd messages.
Back to Numbers chapters 22 23,24 . The story of Balaam's donkey speaks to the development of " true gospel" doctrine under the influence of the messenger angels in Revelation 14. The three prophecies proceedings the star prophecy speaks to the three people groups that are formed and written in the Lamb's book of life under the influence of 14's three messages.

    • @scottcarter1689

Obviously people have just passed by this comment because in one sense, it deserves no consideration...
but in another sense- perhaps this attempt at provoking cynical scorn has the concurrence of God extending a hand of mercy to you despite you simultaneously demonstrating the ignorance that you're blaming God for. This is how compassionate He is towards His enemies in which He has imparted the gift of self-consciousness from which cynicism derives any intelligibility. It's the very basis of the psychopathology that you are responsible for -not God. But be careful because one simple variant of the ubiquitous pathogens that God is sustaining you through in order to wield insults at Him could justly be the mental adjustment of regret that is needed for a corrected understanding of itself.
So it is with Covid. A myriad ways of death are constantly engulfing us... and the epiphany of one viral exception is expressed and the whole World is turned upside down while it has the unmitigated arrogance to not realize it's own self-contradiction.
Such is the demonstration of where blame squarely falls.... and this is the reality for all of us.
In coming here you have demonstrated God's grace in mercy towards you ...and peculiarly this is just in time for the occasion and introduction into the world of the reason for that grace.
      Merry Christmas (in all sincerity).

@Ryan Buikema Oh yeah. Atheists really believe what the Bible has to say. We learn from the OT canon Book of Tobit that the archangel Raphael goes by the alias Azariah, son of the Great Hananiah. We learn Raphael goes incognito as a human. We learn that Rahpael is 1 of 7 who stand in the presence of GOD. In Book of Daniel we learn that the 3 Magi are Azariah, Hananiah, and Mishael. Mishael in Hebrew means "most like God". This is Meshach. This is Michael. Azariah we learn is Abednego. Hananiah we learn is Shadrach. Hananiah means "God favors". It was Gabriel who made the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary that she was Highly Favored of God, and would bring a son into the world who would be named Jesus, who would save his people.

It is apparent that God spoke directly to Cyrus as prophesied in Isaiah 45:1 - 13 (~700BC), “Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held - to subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut… 13 ‘I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways; He shall build My city and let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward,’ Says the Lord of hosts.” The ancient Persian world super power long before Islam was strictly monotheistic and shares some cultural roots with ancient India and Sanskrit. Cyrus the Great freed Israel from exile under Babylon even helping helping them rebuild the Temple and Jerusalem without cost. This was actually in preparation for the coming Christ as His genealogy explains 14 generations from Abraham to David, David to the Exile, and from the Exile to Jesus Christ. In fact the Magi Who visited Christ were the priests of Zoroastrianism within the Achaemenid Empire founded by Cyrus the Great. This was all done by God’s decree which strikes deep into history and ancient Persia, all paralleled by the text of the Cyrus Cylinder. How is this great treasure of Israel’s history but we only hear about Greece and their religious pantheon as our forbears? Without the help of the Achaemenid and later Sassanid Persian Kingdom Europe may not have survived the Ottoman Empire. Is modern culture steering away from major monotheistic roots with details pointing toward loving our neighbors and pointing toward Christ as every culture does? A good example of this is the movie "300" about Sparta’s warriors holding out against Cyrus’ Son Darius or the epic and annual race "Marathon" when the Greece city of the same name was protected against the Achaemenid Empire by a great messenger. The Magi’s visit gives a whole new depth to the 12 days of Christmas as we await their arrival after Christ’s birth; remember the song, “...on the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...”?). Please look up the text of the Cyrus Cylinder as well as the monument to Cyrus found in Brazil.

These stories are reported in the bible; I just wonder why Almighty G'D never told us somewhere in the scriptures to arrange a birthday party for HIS SON - since the disciples of Messiah Jeshua never celebrated their own nor JESHUA's birthday. The early church never celebrated Christmas.
What does G'D think about this commercial business festival when so many people commit suicide because christians are behind closed doors in their privacy with their families but the "sinners and prostitutes and homeless" are somewhere outside hidden in dark loneliness. Does G'D enjoy Christmas? Is JESHUA celebrating HIS big world wide birthday party? Or is HE standing outside and knocking on the door (Rev.3, 20), but nobody hears HIM because there is too much noise while the party is going on?.....?......?

I'm not sure you can definitively say whether or not b-days were celebrated! Remember there is a verse which says New American Standard Bible
But there are also many other things which Jesus did, which, if they were written in detail, I expect that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.

The star was a angel. Stars in the Bible are angels not giant balls of gas billions of light years away.

Can you prove this with scripture

I'm sorry but there are several indicators in the scriptures that tell us where the wisemen/magi came from. I would be cautious believing everything this man taches, look up what he has taught you and confirm it with the scriptures every time....
    Psalm 72:10
May the kings of Tarshish and distant shores bring tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.
    Psalm 72:15
Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given him. May people ever pray for him; may they bless him all day long.
    Isaiah 60:6, 7
The multitude of camels shall cover thee: and the dromedaries of Midian and of Ephah: all they of Sheba shall come:
they shall bring gold and incense, and show forth the praises of the Lord.
All the sheep of Kedar shall be gathered unto thee: the rams of Nebajoth shall serve thee: they shall come up to be
accepted upon mine altar: and I will beautify the house of my glory.

Wise men saw the star & started two years back. Came correctly to Jerusalem for to fulfill the prophecy of killing children, two and below.
The wise men met Jesus, Must be on the eighth day, led by star from just out of the palace of Herod to the house where Jesus was, after finishing the circumcition as per Luke & that night Jesus was taken to Egypt, to fulfill the prophecy of "calling the Son in Egypt.

Where does it say that the wise men reached Bethlehem just after Jesus' circumcision on the 8th day? What about the period of Mary's purification, of 33 days, and then the visit to the temple at Jerusalem?
      (See Luke 2:22-38)
From the narrative it sounds as though Joseph and Mary fled to Egypt FROM Bethlehem. So, when did they visit the temple? Before, or after the wise men's visit to Bethlehem?
Did they travel to Jerusalem after being warned to flee to Egypt?
Or had they already been before the wise men came? In which case they must have gone back to Bethlehem after visiting the temple.
      🤔🤔

@@judylloyd7901 accounts of the Bible are very very brief, so you'll have to read in between letters and lines carefully and accurately not going this & that side.
It is said after purification no doubt, but circumsition took place in Jerusalem. After wise men met Jesus in Jerusalem warned & went to Egypt.
