Hi Damian.Great to see back Brother..My favourite video you did was when you was canoeing down the river wannie not sure if l spelt that correctly in a inflatable canoe that kept loosing air and running aground on rock's ..Absolute classic. God bless.💓💓🙏🙏
Hi Brian thanks for your comments, I've seen the river Wansbeck described as Wannie and Wanney in old books. The kayak trip down the Wannie is one of my most memorable trips. I nearly didn't film it because things were rapidly going belly up with the puncture and being so far upstream from my destination. I nearly left it and walked away but pleased I persisted because looking back, it was a funny experience, although it didn't feel like that at the time. If I didn't film the journey then the memories would have faded and would be nothing to watch and look back on.
This video definitely wasn’t wasted on me Damien! I love wild camping and fishing and even if I didn’t, it’s always a laugh coming along with you! Keep them coming!
Thanks for you're comment. There were better spots for fishing but with the rough sea and big waves, it was a great place for making a vlog. Next time its going to be about maximizing the chances of catching fish so thats probably night fishing and all the problems that will cause trying to film in the dark.
I was at isle of wight a few years ago and tried fishing. The day i picked the sea was rough . Still had fun ,same as you caught nothing. Thanks for making the video
Tip for casting from my viewpoint. Hold the rod above your head, lower and raise the rod to swing the drop of line behind the tip, as it is in full swing back simultaneously step forwards with the rod loaded and cast it forward. Timing of the release is key as it needs to be done with the force loaded on the rod for it to execute the cast.
Thanks for the advice, I've been watching casting videos on TH-cam but its hard to see exactly how they're doing it from one angle. I'm casting something similar to a half pendulum and still have some way to go. I've mastered OTG and OHT but want to load up the rod for more distance.
@@Fell_Wanderer No probs. One thing I found useful with course fishing is the use of pva as it enables you to have the rig on the ground for a longer drop.
I'm getting out there now and enjoying the moment. Its difficult fishing and filming at the same time, especially for me when fishing isn't second nature, still loads to learn but skills are slowly coming back to me after all those years. Pleased I didn't sell my gear knowing one day I'd get back into it. That mark is great in summer for the mackeral, fished it all states of the tide and caught fish but in winter best in a calmer sea. I did arrive about 1 hour before low tide but istead of fishing, flew the drone and took pictures so didn't start fishing until the tide turned, which was a bit late. I will let you know when out and hopefully see you on the rocks, you can show me how its done, ATB.
Great to see you back posting again 👍 would love to see you do a cook and catch with an overnight camp on a beach. Always good to change things up …. onwards and upwards 👍
Great to see you back on TH-cam Damian, I’ve done a bit of shore fishing from roundabouts here myself-and I have to say with not much luck. I understand what you mean when you say you’ve gone off while camping a bit. I hope it comes back to you though. All the best mate, Graham 👍 👍
Hi Graham, I'll always do wild camping just fancied a bit of a change. With regards to uploading, I've been out a few times at Harwood camping with Christopher, just didn't record because it felt like the same sh*t different day and don't want to keep uploading repetitive content. Nice to hear from you and hope you and you're family are doing well and have a great Xmas, ATB.
Good to see you up load a video Damien I know we had a good talk about your camping you have to do what makes you happy mate pity you didn't get a little fishy on ya dishy 😂 them waves will get you wetter than a otters pocket 😂 atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍🤟🤟
Thanks Jimmy for the shout out on your FB group, it was good seeing you the other week. Hopefully get out again in the coming weeks. I felt like doing something a bit different to wild camping and thoroughly enjoyed the change of scenery. I'm out tonight hunting for Cod os fingers crossed, ATB.
I’ll not lie I’m a bit gutted you’ve lost your love of wild camping you’re the reason I got into it. However you always make entertaining and interesting content and I’m looking forward to the next instalment of Fell goes Fishing 👍
I will still be doing wild camping content. Got some footage from previous trips yet to be edited, just lost interest because the footage is more of the same and I didnt want to keep uploading repetative content and fancied a change doing different content.
Those early wild camps were some of the most memorable. The chicken was so burnt it tasted like charcoal, I should have waited till there was a good bed of coals, not try and cook on a bonfire. I've learned a lot since then, thanks for your comment, ATB.
Hi Damian, great a bit of fishing, I stopped the sea fishing as it was too cold and I nearly got cut off while traversing the pipe at Cresswell, Prefer the fly for trout now if I go, too many hobbies not enough time, Cheers Adrian
Hi Adrian, used to do fly fishing and tie all my own flies, was right into it one time. The mark at Cresswell Scars is a good spot, never fished but have walked over with the metal detector looking for sinkers. I wouldn't want to fish in the dark, fear of getting cut off, its a real phobia I have now. It was so nice getting out and doing something different other than camping, ATB.
Thank you, I'm very careful now about being cut off, its a frightening experience, especially in the dark when you look behind all you see, is water where there was once land and if you are lucky, little stepping stone rocks back to safety.
Haven’t even watched the video yet! Fantastic mate ! I seen you on that programme on the tv 📺 if you ever come camping in north Scotland il get you some fantastic private places on a estate where I used to live
Great video mate. The beach at the power station may have been a safer bet 😂. God loves a truer tho! Don't overthink your mistakes/choices, we've all made those mistakes even just after a season off. Looking forward to you doing more, mate. You know it makes sense! (No yeti's on the sea 😅)
Thanks for the advice. Lynemouth beach and Cresswell private beach are canny spots from what I've researched and been told. The Beacons are very dramatic with the storm conditions for filming but soon realised they weren't ideal to catch a fish when I got there about 1 hour before low tide. I wanted to make a video and should have had the sense to move elsewhere if I was serious about fishing. Theres no Sea Yeti's but aquatic apes could be real lol.
@Fell_Wanderer you're bang on mate. You will get into the rhythm no bother, you probably remember more than you give yourself credit for. If I was you, I'd get a tripod with leg locks for them rocks, tho. They're like Bambi on ice in a good swell. Been there 🤣. You'll deffo need a shelter from any marauding aquatic apes, mind 🤣🤣✌️
Nice to see you out again Damian. Best to fish there on the Ebb mate last 2 hrs down 2 hrs up. gis a shout if you fancy a go at Cresswell, Private Beach will be canny mate.
Thank you for the advice, Cresswell Private beach fishes good over high water. I'm a bit of a spur of the moment fisherman and not sure when out but if you see me pop over and have some craic.
They fish off lynemouth beach. Just park past the little bridge and your there. I enjoyed that. Doesn't matter what you do you always put up good videos
Thank you. The other day doing a recce, I parked at the little narrow bridge, they are clearing old mine landfill rubbish away from Lynemouth dunes and beach, north of the power station and access to the beach is cordoned off. You have to go a little further up towards Cresswell to access the beach. I used to fish for mackerel of Lynemouth beach as a kid, getting on is all changed now.
Back in the day, I can remember a local kid was bored and riding a motorcycle around those parts. The police became involved and that kid rode the bike around until it rode no more. Once arrested, the kid admitted that he was bored and when the police arrived, he then had a better day as they played 'chasey' trying to catch him! Nothing wrong with fishing. I'm surprised you've not already done some fresh water fishing when out and about in the wilds.
I remember the days when you could ride a motorbike in lots of places and not get bothered. I was too young to go out on my own to the pit heaps, some of the terrain looked a bit scarey and beyond my limits so my Dad used to take me to a quiet stretch of old road/ track in front of Vald Birn Cambois beach. Never seen a copper, back in the day they were after real criminals, not chasing people for Facebook posts and misgendering someone like they do now. I had a permit for years on the Wansbeck but got sick of catching undersized stockies and gave up.
I'd still like to see another canoe video with a wild camp combined with some fishing..... you have done that in the past with your Sevylor ??!! Here's hoping, gan canny👍
Always look forward to your Videos Damien nowt wrong with uploading other interests ,I follow a TH-camr who does camps , Walks , Mountain Biking n Motorcycle adventures 😊👍
Like everything else its a learning curve. Lynemouth beach might have fished but you need to find a spot where its not to rough. Newbiggen bay is good when its really rough but you need to know where the holes are😁
Thanks for the tips, Im slowing getting there with the knowledge. Google Earth is a big help, I've downloaded some fishing mark POI's and the comments on here have been a great help so thank you.
Thanks for the info, I arrived 1 hour before low tide and did some drone flying then started fishing when the tide was turning so big mistake. Summer was great fishing for mackerel any state of the tide but there wasn't any big sea's so I failed to understand winter fishing conditions

I was just having some fishing practice and sort of guessed I wouldn't catch anything because its right what you say about fishing is best on a dying sea.

I've got the Ian Golds Supermatch but Skakespeare are good as well. Just ordered the leg lock kit for the tripod because I'll end up with a broken rod if I'm not careful.

I'm used to fishing there in the summer for Mackerel during all states of the tide but winter after a storm is a different game all together. I didn't anticipate the conditions, lack of experience mate.

Good to see you out again Damian!!! You always make things funny!!!
Great stuff using some quality equipment there wonderer.
Can't beat a bit of beach fishing.
Thanks for sharing!
Wished I got back into it earlier, really enjoying it now, thanks for watching.
Great to see you back posting again 👍 would love to see you do a cook and catch with an overnight camp on a beach. Always good to change things up …. onwards and upwards 👍
That would be good content, wild camping with catch and cook. Will definitely try that during the winter months before the cod season ends, ATB.

lol..... ace. Reminds me of when you cooked 'polycarbon' chicken in that waste bin for an oven, in the early days of wild camping!
love it mate :)

keep fishing you no it makes sens nice vid damo

Dont care what you do Damian, missl😊 your sence of humout and banter with your mates
Thank you for the nice words, ATB.
on the beacons with that swell on the flood fkn hell
The conditions made for good filming but not good fishing
Fishing the beacons is best 2hours before low water up to about 2 hours after mate
Thanks for the info, I arrived 1 hour before low tide and did some drone flying then started fishing when the tide was turning so big mistake. Summer was great fishing for mackerel any state of the tide but there wasn't any big sea's so I failed to understand winter fishing conditions
@ church point is a good shot , left hand side of the block jetty infront of the cafe , there is a concrete pipe going into the sea that always fishes on a dying sea , 2 hours before low water , sea is dropping off now so it should fish
Thanks for the info, Ive got some fishing marks stored in Google Earth, one called east end pipe next to the breakwater and concrete pipe. That looks like the one you mentioned. I fished them rocks further to the right called Downovers a few weeks ago and drew a blank but it wasn't after a good storm . Come down to Filey we can look in each other’s boxes do some fishing & a wild camp & av got a tenner in mi pocket.. good to see you out brother

Good to see you back. You know it makes sense 😊😊😊😊😅😅😅😅
The Beacons is a great fishing spot.
Nice to see you again mate, something different 👍
Be great to see you combine the two in the future. Wild camping and fishing, catch and cook (take some meatballs and mash just incase)
I always have a backup plan when it comes to food and usually bring more than I need. I haven't seen those, "look what we've found meatballs" in ages, they are much tastier than the tinned meatballs I get from LIDL
Nice to see u back on the tube northern bloke been a while 👍👍👍
Good rod rest is the shakespeare salty I never have any issues with rod rest collapsing or falling over
I've got the Ian Golds Supermatch but Skakespeare are good as well. Just ordered the leg lock kit for the tripod because I'll end up with a broken rod if I'm not careful.
You no it makes sense fishing 🎣 why not hopefully the weather isn’t too cold 🥶
Best cod fishing is in the cold winter months after a storm. I'm out later today so hopefully catch something.
Get out and do a lot of fishing you know it makes sense. 40lb braid would be more than adequate mate, 100lb is a bit excessive 😅 a bucket of water tied under the tripod stops it moving. Most entertaining as always mate, best wishes from Kent.
Thanks for the tips, its a tackle graveyard there, lost loads of rigs and line in the summer fishing for mackerel
@Fell_Wanderer I can imagine, worth beach combing it on big low tides for tackle. Looking forward to more of your fishing exploits, best fishes my friend.
Great to see you making another vid.
merry Christmas Damian
Glad to see you out sir

I will be out over the Xmas but not sure where and when, hopefully upload soon, ATB.

Nice to see you again
thanks for watching
Yeah mate been sea fishing for 30 years .I wouldn't of fished there with that swell .only on a calm day we'll done bud 👍
I'm used to fishing there in the summer for Mackerel during all states of the tide but winter after a storm is a different game all together. I didn't anticipate the conditions, lack of experience mate.
Is that needle's eye at newbiggin
It looks like the Beacons, between Church Point and Lynemouth power station.
Yes, its the Beacons at Newbiggin
Lush video, great spot when the sea is in a better state
Best way to learn is from experience and will know better in the future, thanks for your comment.
Try stealth camping that would be fun
OMFG It's an apparition? Is this really you ????????????????????
Whats that saying all the gear 😄
Ive got most of the gear from about 20 years ago, pleased I didnt sell up when I lost interest.
Boa noite
