    I love how a primer coat can turn a loose jumble of odd-looking parts into a cohesive object! Also, who ever plans out everything in advance :), it came out awesome. The LEDs add a lot of atmosphere

    Damn. Even with what mentioned as “junkyard shop, sort of mess” is but a masterful work of art before its final completion, and if it looks this good, even before reassembly, dude. You’re @n accomplished Maker! If I oversold it...so what. Your work is top notch. I mean, those who look at your finish product and react to what equates to, “Meh”, are soulless heathens who don’t appreciate a mind blowing, Handcrafted, Kit bash mech. Congrats!

    Simply magnificent. The detailing and application of the paint job, the unusual source lighting plus the truck on the base really tie in well together to sell the scale. I thought that this model was crying out for lighting and hoped for maybe some fibre optics, but what you have done is very unusual and yet feels and looks so right for the piece.
    Really enjoyed your videos on this build, your informative style is addictive and like a true master, you make it look easy.
    Bravo, I will look forward to your future builds.

    I really like this. I think I would have used a larger die-cast car so it would be more in scale with 40mm (Star Wars Legion) and (very heroic) 28mm scale WH40k figures, but man, this thing is beautiful!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    @titaniumworks3274 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, this piece really came together. For your next build, I would be interested in seeing a more battle worn mech. Perhaps in the distant future mech fighting is a common blood sport. I would love to see your interpretation on it.

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much! Yeah it's a cool idea - plus if the mech's been damaged and had bits blown off it's economical as you don't need to build as much! ;) For my next one I want to include a diorama in the base so I'm going with a swamp/bog type setting. It would be cool to see a battle damaged mech maybe being knocked backwards into a river or something. I'll have to experiment with some water effects.

    • @titaniumworks3274
      @titaniumworks3274 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Been binging your videos all day, loving everything about em! Had a question though, when you are weathering and mention using a thinner to allow it to flow, how does the thinner not react with the base coat (like the grey/blue)? Thanks!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Well different types of paints have different bases, so some can be water based some can be solvent based. In this case the thinner I was using (white spirit) doesn't react with the paint that I used for the base coat (Tamiya paint which thins with water or isopropyl alcohol), so you can add additional layers without interfering with the base coat.

    New subscriber here :) You know, for us noobs or people that don't have access to lathes and don't know how to cast resin, maybe you can suggest what products you use in the description or alternatives like adhesives that work with plastics you are using. Thanks! Great build!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I do cover materials in some of my vids, but as I tend to use the same stuff it gets abit repetitive. I generally use this resin which may ro may not be accessible where you are in the world www.dwrplastics.com/pu-casting-resin.html I also usually use cyano-acrylate/super glue/crazy glue. Nothing high tech ;)

  • @matthewgrove9704

    What? No GW paint? :). But seriously, do you prefer paints that require thinner as appose to water based paints? I have seen folks use hairspray as a mask as well. Looks great as always. I really like this mech!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the red was Games Workshop! ;) Yeah I think thinners rather than water do work better. It's difficult to say specifically why - I think they flow a little better maybe. The finish seems to be smoother too. Thanks though I appreciate it!
