    I love scratch building with stuff from the 🗑. I drive my wife 🤪 but she gets over it. Along with plastic tubes of various sizes, lids, and pieces of HDPE & PETE, hot glue, and super glue I can be a design genius

    Hey, mr Power, I've been watching your stuff for some time, and I'd like to tell you this; I really enjoy your work, your faces are spectacular, totally awesome. But what inspires me most, from your making, are the soft forms you create in this video! The faces you make are well beyond me, and the rounded to soft shapes you make here are also difficult, but they look so approachable and so organic. I hope to see more of them in the future. From a mech engineering perspective, they look difficult and expensive - but mechs would be so it sells the concept. No criticism of any of your other pieces, but these shapes gives me a warm feeling!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mr Fagerlund, thanks very much! Yeah I really enjoy working with the plastic spheres, it makes it very easy to create interesting shapes. Add abit of bondo in and you can make anything. It does mean lots of sanding though! ;)

    Amazing build! The fingers are absolutely phenomenal. The rounded shapes give it a very Ma.K-like look. It's a shame that a lot of the mechanical details are hidden by the covers, especially the shoulder joints, wrist joints and hip joints, but I guess you have to make a choice at some point as to what to cover. I am looking forward to the paint job!!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, yes someone else mentioned Ma.K. I didn't know the name but I do recognise the models which are very cool. I could leave the details out beneath the panels of course but I like the idea that the viewer will be rewarded if they look more closely at the final model. A friend of mine who's a professional model maker made a tripod tank and he went so far as to detail the entire inside of the cockpit even though only tiny portions of it would be visible. I liked that idea ;)

    5:41 just sayin.... if you breed Homer Simpson with Snoopy.... hehe wow, this is quite interesting. nice result. Actually, the way you are assembling it and how you are seeing this stuff is pretty amazing to me. I've never been in a position to try creating much from a physical standpoint so I watch this going HOW? How did he know to do THAT??? After I see it, I go oh yeah, that's the right way to make that look nice. haha I have a skill saw, a drill, a hammer and a dremel tool. I just got the dremel some months ago and boy.... my brain just exploded with ideas. I can actually cut metal now! ooooooh boy..... heheheh

    • @thedarkpower

    Just found your channel. Very inspirational. Have you looked into 3D printing some of your parts? Or maybe even the completed designs?

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Shane. Yeah I definitely wanna have a go at 3D printing. It definitely has a place in model making, I think it's just another tool in the arsenal though, if you know what I mean. The main issues that hold me back are the print times and the resolution of the prints. Once they get better I'll definitely be having a go.

    I am watching your video and realizing that my questions about what can I do with these plastic and styrofoam spheres?
    I don’t have a bandsaw or lathe like yourself but I should give it a go.
    How would you suggest I paint the styrofoam balls as I think they might disintegrate?
    How about doing a tour around your workshop with detailed descriptions of what equipment you have etc and how did you get started in this? That would be very interesting.
    Happy New Year from Toronto 👍

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! You can do alot with plastic and Styrofoam without the need for expensive tools. I'd recommend using PVA glue to seal the Styrofoam if you're worried about it disintegrating. Some solvents can eat it away.
      I do have a workshop tour on the channel actually and some in depth looks at some tools, primarily the vacuum and pressure chambers. Other people on TH-cam know alot more about lathes than I do so worth checking for some tutorials on those elsewhere. Happy new year! 😁

    WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA again enjoined this like a good book or nice scifi movie! I normally make a sketch and then build, but realized that building with the stuff you have and combining is also a design method! That is more better dan making a sketch. Making a sketch is building without the parts you don't have. And that's terrible! I just seen a terrible scifi, bumblebee, I look a this kinda movies for reverence! I loved the hands, the little scratch marks all over a great. Anyways.... Thank you for sharing enjoined it very much!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers dude. Yeah I'm not that good at drawing so I find myself making it up as I go along, pretty much. I find that works as you often find interesting bits and pieces that make you think of things that you wouldn't necessarily think of otherwise.

    did he just make a hermaphrodite mech? i see boob guns and a benis gun... i dont know what happens when you play warhammer but around my neck of the woods its pg13.
    also you need to put stat numbers for stuff on them and do a yearly wrap up for each years creations. work backwards if you have to through your own channels posts and just show off all of what you made. some people want to see cool stuff but dont want to see you make it

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well art's in the eye of the beholder - if you see genitalia then that's cool ;) This channel's focus is on the process of making stuff though, not just the end result. Maybe an end of year recap is a cool idea though. Cheers.
