Your enthusiasm for this stuff is great to see 😁 When I did Film & TV at uni, I think we had similar PVMs in the editing rooms (we were still using MiniDV back then)
Thank you! I think it’s that intersection of generational nostalgia and love for those tactile experiences, the same thing that draw people into film really but my love is not exclusive to a format but an era. Thanks for watching, I love your videos. ☺️
It’s such a classic! I’m on the hunt for some more city pop vinyls to add to the collection, I’ve got a copy of Anri, Timely!! coming as well @@PirateCommando
Ashley, great so see another upload. Nice television!!!!! What mysteries are waiting for you in that box. I'm working on uncoding this whole glitch art equation. The Mamiya SLR system has a macro lens no doubt, that would solve your problem possibly better than a new tv. I was on a budget, so I went with a Bronica GS-1. It fortunately came with a 110mm macro lens, so I'm set as far as glitch film capture goes. I'm no sure I'm crazy enough to not just shoot that part digitally tho :P. I also own a Canon EOS 1-N. It's an amazing camera, though it doesn't get enough love from me as I tend to shoot larger chunks of film, or grab a sleeker rangefinder camera. Cameras! This is my main question for you. There's this composite vs component debacle. I only remember composite cables. What camcorders will feed into the RCA connectors on the CRT television? Anything pre-hdmi? What are the benefits to a sweet Canon pro camcorder unit like you have? Manual controls, what else? There's a million camcorders available and I'm cautious about adding to this pile of gear that I'll be wanting to replace soon after. TVs! Will bigger show that cathode ray pattern more explicitly? There's some 27 inchers in the local marketplace, but kinda pricey. I'll do some deep searching in the junk shops first. The last thing for me to collect will be a dirty mixer, and I'm thinking it'll also be the highest price tag item. You rock Ashley 💫
Yeah the 127mm is still great but I was looking at the Sekor C 140mm Macro. It's about $400 AUD when you want a decent condition lens that has no haze/fungus or lens separation... So instead I've purchased the extension tubes 1 + 2 for $170 AUD. I might do a video on these are I actually don't see a lot of people talking about them when I was researching myself. In terms of camcorders, anything with a RCA cable is fine. I think most VHS-C, MiniDV and even some early day digi camcorders have this, all of which I own. So basically anything old that predates HDMI should be fine, usually I would check to find an online manual to see if it's available on whatever camera I'm looking at if it's not in an obvious spot. Some have all three ports; yellow, red, white but I think with newer ones some have that 1x 3.5mm composite jack which then you'll need the 1 composite to 3 RCA. I guess it's more of a matter in regards to what you want from a camera in terms of the feel of the format. The benefit of a semi pro cam is not only the quality of the lens but also the controls. Most consumer camcorders are full auto however with the semi pro I can control my speed and aperture. This means I can easily isolate my subject with the way I like to without the camera trying to compensate for the darkness surrounding. And again, the size of the TV depends on what you want/need. As I'm limited for space 14" is perfectly compact for me, not just in terms of size but also easier for me to move around or take on location as a prop. However as I've said, I wish to have something ever so slightly bigger but that's my own preference. I will note as well of course the bigger the TV, the bigger and heavier it gets and people usually have a hard timer with anything bigger than 21" from what I've read on threads. Well at least when attempting to pick up on their own. 😂 Now I will note that the dirty mixer is more so for, well, mixing two channels. There are usually buttons to disrupt the circuitry to create momentary glitches when you push them but for all those textures that I've show in my work, a glitch device is really what you require. I only ever really use my dirty mixer for video work personally but it's not to say that it couldn't be used. If you're not sure what to purchase just ask! All the best luck on your glitch journey ✌
@ashleetough oh ny gosh, thank you! I have the idea that you could devise a black bellows between the TV and your camera lens, so you could shoot in more well lit conditions. It's true about the weight. That's good advice. I'm always pushing around big carts of gear between my car, my college photo studio, and everywhere else. The sky is not the limit tho. Ahh ok no dirty mixer required. I'll hold out for a better camcorder. Such a fun project. Cheers from Canada!
Also I'd be interested in the extension tube video. I think you'd be fine with that, with your use case. You're not trying to squeeze out more 3D pop. Bronica made them too for my camera, bundled with I think the 200mm. I've not thought about buying those for awhile, uh oh 😆
Luckily my bedroom has block out blinds so I don't have to wait for the sun to go down, otherwise I've used block out fabric in the past between the camera and TV to stop bad reflections if I really need it. Yeah I feel like TV weight thing seems obvious but I've read plenty of people saying that they get so excited that they forget that factor and end up in a pickle trying to transport them haha. I also didn't think about the extension tubes until a friend mentioned them as an alternative, I think they're more than enough for what I'm trying to achieve and also I think some more macro shots would be really interesting. Also I think it means I should be able to shoot my 8" Trinitron and I'm curious how glitch art will look on a Trinitron grille. I uhhh... feel bad for your wallet right now, I'm going to finically ruin you 😂@@JHurrenPhotography
Yeah I’m super curious in regards to how the Trinitron grill will look with my glitch art in comparison to consumer phospor, I’m just waiting on an macro lens upgrade to arrive so I can get up close, but I also have been having lots of fun playing games on it ☺️ @@Luudite
I sold a Sony 20L5 not so long ago and now regret it big time! Back in 2013 I found it for $150 on gumtree, and the value really skyrocketed from there. Also ぬ~ぼ~ - great game!
Yeah that would have been such a good steak now days, it’s crazy how much the value has gone up. And yes! It seems like a really fun puzzle game! I might play some of it when I finally make a video on my GB Operator.
Honestly so stoked that I got it for the price and in such good condition. It’s made me hungry for more. 😂 Now that I’ve got the GB operator it’s perfect to capture game footage on the PC. I just haven’t opened it yet as I want to do a little video on it.@@StarkCraftsYT
