    definitely 100% do a video on fixong the family studio titler. I have one, and have been meaning to fix it for ages but not managed to. There are a couple of videos, but most of them lack proper info on what to do.

      Once I'm back from Japan Jake and I will plan a day to do it and record the repair. I don't think there's many steps to it. For my unit it's definitely the classic Sony capacitor issue on mine, the caps have corroded so badly that they ate the solder and just fall off if touched. Luckily this means it should be super easy for us to remove them without needing heat, so our repair might even miss that step if all the caps cooperate. I'll still capture us doing it regardless in case it helps anyone. We're also avoiding surface mounts and using through-hole caps for the sake of ease.

      I’m glad that this was helpful! If you’re looking at getting into glitch art definitely have a look on Etsy for the video synth and dirty mixers I have, but also there are other makers on there as well that I would recommend as well.

      I’m glad to hear that this has helped! It’s a beast of a camera, the reason I wanted one was because I want more manual control compared to an everyday camcorder but also because with an adapter I can use my EF lenses on it too. She does needs a little TLC now so that I can use tapes.

    • @ashleetough
      @ashleetough  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They’re very easy and cheap to get usually, the catch is that the batteries on them will always be dead due to how old they are, so conditions are unknown until you can buy a replacement for it. Luckily with mine it came with a direct power adapter so I could plug it into the wall to test.

    • @falitosis
      @falitosis 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ashleetough ahhh, I just dug up my dad's old Sony video 8 handy cam trv40, but it appears to be dead dead. There's power, but not much else unfortunately. According to a video I watched the capacitor probably leaked and damaged other components, but I also found his Canon EOS 700, which hopefully only needs a new battery to work again 🤞Also that glitch gear looks awesome, this is all so new to me, thanks!

    • @ashleetough
      @ashleetough  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Damn what a shame in the Video 8 cam, it would have been cool if it was still working. If it was just a tape issue you could have gotten a tapeless setup at least but that one sounds like it’s well and truely gone. It’s cool that there was a Canon 700 though! @@falitosis

    • @falitosis
      @falitosis 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ashleetough Yes! I have a 2CR5 battery coming in tmrw to test it, but apparently it's not much better than a point and shoot camera. I wouldn't know what to do with more options anyways (shutter, aperture? no clue). Thanks for the information, can't wait to learn more about your analogue tech 🙌🙌

    • @ashleetough
      @ashleetough  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s not true at all, it has so many more feature than a point and shoot plus uses EF lenses, which is what I use in my Canon EOS1-N, which is where the quality of a camera lies. It’s a great entry level SLR film camera but with an excellent lens system that is easily upgradable with a new body. If it has sat for a while old light seals do degrade, which then causes light leaks, so it will probably need a service anyways. @@falitosis

    i barely missed out on a free 16 inch engineering crt monitor a couple weeks ago and i'm still thinking about it. i do have a portable philips crt/radio/tape deck but it's rf only so i need to get an adapter (also needs a new band in the tape third of it)

      Damn, the one that got away 🥲 I’ve got some exciting news coming up too on that front, so long as everything arrives in one piece 😅 I hope eventually I’ll get a bigger space so I can collect more and save a few older RF styled TVs but right now I have to be strict in terms of space, so I can only have what is deemed useful for my glitch art. I hope you get the chance to set your’s up! You should look up @ellingsonTV if you don’t know of him already.
