The pc 98 was like that in some ways like the amiga it had some technical supiroitys to the windows and dos based systems that the world standardised around (that i do not understand well enough to explain) . Hence some of that strange magic a lot of oc 98 games seem to have.

It's interesting how this whole genre of 90s PC games was influenced by Silent Mobius, which itself we hardly even known in the west... It's like a light version of Blade Runner with the cyberpunk mostly replaced by fantasy monsters and psychic powers and large casts of cute chicks.

      @tiivc ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yeah, I saw Silent Mobius' Western premiere at Otakon 2000 as a teenager and I can absolutely tell you that everybody there at the theater was just there to see Magic Knight Rayearth OVA that was coming up on the same screen in the next time slot. Good times.

Interesting, Viz was publishing the manga back in 91. So I was under the impression that it was popular in the west in the 90s.

@@sempcd Most of the stuff Viz published in '91 was so obscure that only a small community of hardcore otaku knew about it--stuff like Mai, the Psychic Girl or Crying Freeman. Even Ranma and UY were only slightly better known at that time. Manga was really hard to find in comic stores back then. It wasn't until Dark Horse blew up in the mid-90s with titles like Oh My Goddess and Gunsmith Cats that it became more common, along with the VHS anime boom happening at the same time. That early 90s era is really interesting though, with now-defunct small publishers like Eclipse and Studio Ironcat putting out a bunch of indie manga that was very cross-cultural, along with other stuff that's famous now, like Masumune Shirow''s early work. The whole culture at that time was very DIY and underground, with small publishers having personal contacts with the Japanese artists, and weird "Amerimanga" things happening like Adam Warren and Toren Smith's Dirty Pair, or Ippongi Bang's manga. It's an era comparable to punk music coming out on small indie labels, whereas now Viz owns Shonen Jump and is basically the Time Warner of manga. Personally, I think it was much more exciting when the artists and the fans were the ones who had control! It was a really creative, literary scene.
I love your FANNARIA AMM avatar, by the way.

@@tiivc I went to A-kon in 2000. I don't doubt everyone at Otakon was salivating for the MKR OVA and had no idea what Silent Mobius was, lol. Those were the days!

@@Margatroid The general impression of the early 90s is about what I thought. I wasn't really of the age to get into anime in a more meaningful sense until later. Seeing a bit of Ninja Scroll on late night TV around the year 2000 and then finding it at a video store was probably my gateway beyond just watching children's anime on TV. I have about a dozen of those old Iron Cat New Vampire Miyu comics, and the print quality is certainly "indie" hahaha. The situation with Silent Mobius is frustrating - Udon never completed their run and some of those old Viz volumes are expensive, and it seems like It may not even be fully scanned online. Maybe there just never was the fanbase here for it. I hope I can actually finish it one day.
      Thank you! I'm a big Tomino/Kogawa fan.

This 98pc hentai game has more atmosphere than a lot of modern games made today. I actually wanna play this, too bad I don't understand one bit of it. Who knows, the story is probably corny as hell.

I had this translated by DeepL, revising those generated a little bit.
As DeepL is not perfect and my English is pretty scuffed, I think there would be bunch of mistakes. But I hope you guys will get what this is basically about!
Humanity have faced an unknown threat.
First, many women began to disappear...
When these women reappeared, they looked the same on the outside, but on the inside...
They are being manipulated by someone.
These women, who have lost their personalities, have been acting in various ways...
These women gradually have become a threat to the people around them.
With their Bio-clusters in tow, they repeatedly wreaking havoc in groups...
"Possessioners", that's what people called the ones by which those girls are haunted...
The Bio-clusters with immense destructive power...
They keep running the gamut of destruction as servants of the powerful Possessioners.
What is the Possessioner and what is the Bio-cluster, are mostly shrouded in mystery.
How long has it been since...
people started to be scared of the Possessioners and the Bio-clusters....?
      My name is Alisa Grouse.
I'm a member of and work for the Slits, doing combat with the Superior Possessioners, which are attended by some Bio-clusters.
The power of the Superior Possessioner is far beyond human capabilities.
The weapon I use against them is the power of magic; magical prowess is in blood of my family.
The Possessioners are vulnerable to humanish emotional movements and can be dispelled by inflicting intense pain on the possessed body.
However, this may kill those haunted girls.
Therefore, the members of the Slits have decided to use a method to fight off the Possessioners without damaging the bodies.
      That method is...
      to give them sexual pleasure.
When the body feels an extreme climax....
The girl with green hair (apparently Meryl?): What's wrong? You look serious.
You're kind of spacing out. Did you have a bad day?
Alisa (maybe): Oh, Meryl... and everyone.
Will we be able to unravel the mystery of the Possessioner and the Bio-cluster, and eradicate them all...?

It's from an ancient Japan exclusive PC (98) hardware made from the late 80's. But the game is made in 1994. In that regard, it looked awesome especially on CRT monitors.
