The man has style. Does his own Rundown, knows his gear, demos it, plays shows as long as he's allowed. And, as others mentioned......NO ENCORES!! Play your show, the whole show, nothing but the show. Hit it and quit it.
Can't count the number of times I have watched one of Sturgill's recent shows and tried to pause it to get a glance at the headstock of that Gibson. Now I don't have to... So happy to see this rig rundown. Awesome band. Love the simplicity of Sturgill's gear and his playing. Laur is a helluva a player. Absolute beast.
The smile on John’s faces when Sturgill’s playing those guitars alone is the worth the price of admission. His love for tone shines right though. I love it !
A truly genius chef can use minimal ingredients and create a mindblowing, intricate dish. The magic is in the technique. Sturgill and the guys are geniuses with their nuanced understanding of their instruments, their intended sound, and their abilities. I saw them 10/22/24 in Cary NC, and can say it was the best live show I’ve ever seen by miles. Nothing has ever compared.
Thank you PG! I've been a huge Sturgill and Laur fan since they first played together! So this RR is so much fun to watch. And Bohlinger - great job as always!
I was front row in STL at the Fox. Basically leaning on the stage and it was crazy to smell those amps as Sturgill and the boys were burning them down. Props to the individuals that keep all the equipment in tune and on time!
This is one of the best rig rundown I’ve ever seen When he flipped the switch on that, ES I had to pick my nuts 🥜 up off the floor I’ve been like in Sturgill for a long time now He keeps on changing members of his band I’m gonna go watch a live video Thanks John
They both have such rich and clear tones on all the guitars and you would never know that laur just started playing steel he sounds great on anything he touches
Thanks so much for this rig rundown! A saw these guys a few weeks ago at Forest Hills and it was a religious experience for me they were so good! They looked like they were having so much fun on stage! And the tones!!!!
Its so cool watching John Bolinger's rig rundowns! I've been rocking guitar for over 40 years and when I see a fellow guitarist with great tone and feel I turn into "Fanboy" as well! LOL Love the authenticity!
I have been saying since I heard "it aint all flowers" That Laur is the very best "new" player out there. We caught both nights in St Louis this tour and there's no doubt. Jeff beck with Floyd Backing band with Waylon on vocals. I still lack real words of what we saw and felt .
Two guitars, effectively no pedals, and two identical amps dialed in differently. Sturgill is so adverse to bullshit he won't even meddle with the appearance of bullshit.
Awesome video! Thanks for showing all the gear! critique: at 9:35 the custom pickup selector switch is not in frame while Sturgill is showing how it works..
I’ve saved a few sturgil songs that I’ve listened to off and on. I really enjoy his studio cover of nirvana’s In Bloom. I’m going to deep dive into this more now. The bluegrass influences is definitely NOT a problem.
@@dcbterp7agreed. I use an optogate in my live show and it just doesn’t work that well. Very easy as a performer to turn your head and lose the vocals completely Would prefer the lily pad solution certainly. I do think they are about the same price though

@@tomcoryell 😍
@@andresjoamets6058 That's so cool you actually commented! Do you know what that little metal thing on Laur's headstock is? He flips it at 20:14?
This is drop D tuner
@@adambowen5111 It's some type of D tuner. Drops the low E to D.
I love how Sturgill actually plays and demos everything! I saw him in LA this tour and he played for almost 3 hours. He’s a real one!
I Was there. What a show!
Lexington KY he played for damn near 4 hours, literally up until a minute before the contract ran out. What a show.
@ Dude that’s so awesome. I feel so lucky to have seen him on this tour!
Just saw him in Toronto. 3 plus hours no encore

I've always enjoyed Laur's playing, and now I enjoy his gear choices and sound! And Sturgill's - Wow!
Thanks for tuning in, RJ ... we love yoU!
Laur is a silent assassin in that band! My favorite guitar player by far
He’s an absolute beast
Thank you. He IS the best.
Laur is the man!! Blew my mind when I saw him a decade ago. Metamodern breakout tour.
Can't count the number of times I have watched one of Sturgill's recent shows and tried to pause it to get a glance at the headstock of that Gibson. Now I don't have to... So happy to see this rig rundown.

Love that John is always excited with gear like a kid. Never loose that man!

I was at that show, too! Been hard pressed to remember a better show. Sturgill and his band absolutely rocked it for close to 3 hrs straight.
My man said "ohm spec". That's an artist that cares about his gear 😀
Yall have no idea how happy I am that this video is 40+ mins
Laur is a mindfuckingly great guitarist 🙌🏻
Lil Joe definitely so, I don't think Sturgill is no slouch either. Lots of great interplay between the 2 on this tour footage.
My goodness, these guys sound AMAZING! Makes me want to rethink my whole rig - focus on my playing and quality amp tones more than massive pedalboard
Thank you PG! I've been a huge Sturgill and Laur fan since they first played together! So this RR is so much fun to watch. And Bohlinger - great job as always!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Everything I’ve heard from this past tour has lit a fire under my ass to play guitar like never before. Good stuff!
Best rig rundown ever. Bolinger you’re the man
This, this is what Ive been waiting for. Saw them at this show in Nash and was blown away by the guitar tones... oozy psychedelic country goodness
Sturgill and the band have been ripping so hard. So stoked on this rundown. 🤘
I was front row in STL at the Fox. Basically leaning on the stage and it was crazy to smell those amps as Sturgill and the boys were burning them down. Props to the individuals that keep all the equipment in tune and on time!
Well said brother

He keeps on changing members of his band

Legit throwback artist...Awesome! Delivers live every time!
Show in ATL was amazing. The whole tour has been a gem. One of the best touring bands assembled.
Love Sturgill's "yeah, it's a problem" hahha.
Thanks!
Awesome tones! Saw him live last month and it was one of the best shows I’ve seen
Excellent work, John! Got to see them live this past August. Laur is a HELL of a picker!
5 Sturgill concerts under my belt 🤘 FCKN TONE ❤️🙀🏆🤠
Great Rundown! So happy that Sturgill brought Laur back into the band. They compliment each other so well.
I’ve been praying for this since I saw them literally at the show they played after recording this
this is what i've been looking for these last few months, nice job guys
Probably 2 of the best sounding guitars I’ve heard!!!🔥👍🤘🏼🎸
That intro was Grand Funk! Heart Breaker!
Thank you so much for doing this! Saw Sturgill and the boyz in St. Paul and they were incredible! ❤🤘🎸
Its so cool watching John Bolinger's rig rundowns! I've been rocking guitar for over 40 years and when I see a fellow guitarist with great tone and feel I turn into "Fanboy" as well! LOL Love the authenticity!
Good to see Sturgill! Glad these guys are giving props to their sound crew.
I have no idea what any of the technical stuff they’re talking about means, but yet it’s so fascinating! Most amazing guitar player!
I have been saying since I heard "it aint all flowers" That Laur is the very best "new" player out there. We caught both nights in St Louis this tour and there's no doubt. Jeff beck with Floyd Backing band with Waylon on vocals. I still lack real words of what we saw and felt .
Agree! Laur is on such another level it’s insane. He’s the best out there now
That show was like every awesome genre of music and everything great about music in one show
Going to see Sturgill on Monday in DC.....can't wait
So glad this finally happened
Laur is incredible. Id be buying whatever he wanted to keep him around.
Sturgill Simpson… A guitar techs dream.
0:09 sweet!!! I can say this is gonna be another awesome rig rundown!!
Thanks for this i just got to see him in Philly what a treat!!
The good ol boy Sturgill! Pan Bowl representin’ 🤟
Laur is maybe the most underrated guitar player on the planet
Second time watching this today. So good
Where’s that Laur Joamets signature Fender
So cool! Love seeing and hearing about this stuff!!
I’m gonna get that tele neck pickup. Sturgil is a LEGEND.
Awesome! Now its time for a CHRIS STAPLETON RIG RUNDOWN!!!
I can never tell if Sturgill is super baked or that's just his default vibe...or both.
Both
Yeah, he sounds like he's a few deep but shreds like he's not so... I dont know either
Saw them in Detroit, laur can flat out play.
They played 3 hours no break, best show I’ve ever been to
That stereo sound is awesome!
Megaküte, Laur ! Jõudu 🎉
the dude is starting to actually look like Waylon
Big shoutout to Jim Weider. Great tele player and member of The Band!
Saw Laur with Drivin n Cryin, he is the best!
I hope he'll come back to them eventually. His lead guitar adds tremendously to DnC! One of my favorite bands
Other than Roy Buchanan that tele of Sturgill’s is best I have ever heard
This is great. I’m going to see sturgill tonight.
That is a straight up pancreas ripping tone. Really shines down from the aether.
Sturgill is slowly turning into Waylon Jennings.
He looks like 70s waylon reincarnated.
Space suits was Huntsville, AL and it was a great show
Two guitars, effectively no pedals, and two identical amps dialed in differently. Sturgill is so adverse to bullshit he won't even meddle with the appearance of bullshit.
Jesus lord I’ve died and gone to heaven. Thank you Bohlinger. Made my entire day
Really miss Laur in Drivin' N Cryin' but he fits so much better with Sturgill's band
Love all my John-isms: Killer! So hip! That's great man! .... We love you John! Now I say them all the time! Ha!
I never expected Laur to sound like Dr. Evil
The Tele series position is Keef's thing. Try it out if you are a big Stones fan.
Awesome video! Thanks for showing all the gear!

YES and thank you!
You are so welcome!
If anyone has not listened to sugar daddy by sturgill simpson you are missing out on some of the best guitar tones of the last decade fr
Love This… And Every One Listen To Guy Clark and His Song The Guitar…..🎸 And See If That Doesn’t Give You Goosebumps….
I put an OoP switch on my Gibson Midtown Custom for that Peter Green thing.
Those sRossFX pedals sound amazing.
You’ve made it when Sturgill says “Thanks man” to you
Unreal 🙏🙏🙏
I guess the tele to 335 pipeline exists, that’s what happened to me to man!
Couldn’t click on this fast enough!
awesome!!
I hung out with this dude before the show across the road. 😳
Never realized how much he looks like Waylon!!
This is cool 😎 love it!
Now that’s a BAND!
Is that Magnatone tremolo sound a harmonic tremolo? Or a vibrato? Love it because it sounds a bit phaser like
Magnatone is famous for stereo pitch vibrato. Very much it's own thing
Rainy knew what's up! 😂
YOU GUYS NEED TO ASK ABOUT PICKSSSS!!!!!!
Someone needs to tell his FOH guy about proximity gates for vocal mics. That said, super cool rundown!
Why? They are more expensive than Lily Pads and don't work as well. I've lost vocals so many times using the proximity gates
@@dcbterp7agreed. I use an optogate in my live show and it just doesn’t work that well. Very easy as a performer to turn your head and lose the vocals completely
Would prefer the lily pad solution certainly. I do think they are about the same price though
Chris Mitchell is the best FOH in the world right now, I'm sure the lily pad was picked for a reason.
Seeing that 335,Man that must be what happened to robben fords sg
good to see felow countryman in premierguitar ;)
He's looking more like Waylon Jennings nowadays.
Yep, those lollars are awesome. 26:19
Magnatone varsity reminds me of a fender princeton reverb
Amazing guitar…weirdly, the neck sounds bright to me. Unsure if it’s the tremelo/reverb he has on. But it’s a little brighter than most 335s.
Man I love Laur's singer
Does Laur play standard tuning on both guitars ?
Doesn’t Robben Ford have an SG with that same headstock faceplate?
Ohhh ya ! Soo good
YES!!! 🔥
