Wow. Thank you for this. IMHO, nothing can touch the late 1950's Elvis. Every black and white picture is iconic. The Vegas time Elvis is already so professional and a master of the stage.

It is wonderful that you as young as you are, are following him around. Thank you for all you are doing. It is really special and YES…. He was the greatest of all time and I bet no other person ever got as many kisses as Elvis. He was a wonderful person as well. His humanitarian side is not displayed enough. Maybe you can search sometime his endeavors. God Bless you dear man! Be safe in your endeavors. We need you and appreciate you and enjoy the journey with you and your heart and love that shines through!❤

I sat in that showroom 4 times to see Elvis in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1976, the last time he played Vegas. When our family arrived in Vegas, my dad always stopped at the showroom ticket window in the morning to make sure our reservations were secure. There was always a line running throughout the casino for people going to see Elvis. Your seats were not "assigned" until they started seating people, so naturally many folks got in line early. The more $$ you gave the seating guy, the better your seats. Our family was always near the back. LOL! The showroom has changed so much from my Elvis days. Good memories.

@@GlobetrottingWithTrey I don't remember a lot about the actual shows the first three times I saw him because I was 10 and 11. But I was excited to get to see him and I loved seeing all of the shiny, metallic banners all over the Hilton. The last time in 1976, I remember three things about the show that stood out. In no particular order: He sang Blue Christmas (and you know that wasn't in the set list every day!), When he sang Hurt, the floor vibrated when he hit that big note! Chills. And, he sang Softly As I Leave You, a song I'd never heard before. I kid you not, I was bawling my eyes out when he did that song. One day, I think in 1978, I came home from school, and a 45 single of that song was sitting on my bed.
My sister said one of her stand out memories is sitting in the balcony and when the 2001 intro music started, she could see Elvis standing in the wings before he hit the stage.
We are so grateful to have seen him. Those were exciting times and some of greatest memories of my childhood and life.

I saw Elvis in 1970, in Vegas. The planes back then from LAX to Vegas were very small. I flew in from LA and met my sister and her husband. We sat in the very back of the showroom. I don't remember that people were acting crazy about seeing Elvis. I think we were all amazed that we were there with Elvis. He was very charismatic; and I will very forget his presents!! I saw him one other time at the Long Beach Area. He still drew in a big crowd but was somewhat overweight.
I went to Graceland; and I'm still a great fan!!🥰

Hi Larae, glad you found me. Yes, I believe Elvis would be huge today. He had the charisma that would make him a superstar at any point in time.. though when he was living it was the perfect time for someone like Elvis because he was different and that stood out back then.. Elvis is the reason all the singers today are superstars.. Elvis started it and also started the rockstar phase.. sunglasses, jewelry, an entourage.. Elvis started all that and everyone copies it now. Let me know if you have anymore questions and I’ll try ti answer them.. Glad you are a new fan and hope you enjoy my shows.

I went to the Westgate in 2017 and was lucky enough to meet a nice employee that showed me around the place and I got to see the same things you show in your video. I have a few photos but your video has filled the gap of some of what I can't remember. I did get to go into his dressing room that was closed in your video. He said the only things in there that were original to when Elvis was there were the 2 bars and the mirrors. The bars definitely looked old. The room wasn't remarkable at all in regards to decor but when you too into account that Elvis was in there and looked at himself in those same mirrors, it kicked up the experience to a 10. I do remember that elevator and have a photo in it. I didn't want to overstay my welcome so I never felt like I could stop and take it all in, especially when being on stage but your video helped me relive that and do that so thank you! Excellent video!!!

Was there once, in 1978, I was too young to go in the casino or to the showroom. We were there four nights, five days. Bill Cosby's last show was there our first night. I remember being so disappointed because Lynn Anderson was coming in on our last night there (with some famous comedian was her opening act), and I liked her a lot as a 10-year-old kid. My parents saw both Cosby and Lynn Anderson. My sister was old enough to go to the show but stayed in the room with me. Memories!

Elvis says well out of all the jumpsuits I have what would you want me to wear. I said the tiger suit. He laughed and said well I have to lose 10 pounds but I will do it for you. Well we went to the show that weekend and when he came out on stage he was wearing that tiger suit and he looked down at me and winked.

Was it smells like the olden day too? Old men cologne: Brut? 😂
A bit creepy to me and I am not surprised if that area can be haunted by Elvis or other entertainers who had long gone, .. Amazing exploration Mr Trey and Mr Spa Guy.. TCB 👍👍👍👍

I saw Elvis at The Las Vegas Hilton twice during his 1974 Summer Engagement. I saw one dinner show with my mom and sister and one midnight show just by myself, I paid $12.50 to stand in the balcony to watch Elvis ‘ SRO concert . If you ever get a chance to film Elvis’ complete route from getting off the service elevator and walking the so called service/kitchen area to the showroom it would be much appreciated.
As when I was there in 1974 I was all of 16. The reason for this request, back then on the far left side of the casino there was a restaurant where we would have breakfast/lunch and many a time we sat in the booth right next to Vernon with a few other people eating and having coffee. Anyway somewhere not to far from there was a door that said employees only. One night I got it into my head that I’d figure out when Elvis’ Dinner show would be almost over and try to get to him for a handshake, autograph, photograph, anything. So make my way to that door I noticed earlier and I opened that door and walked down a long narrow hallway. At the end to my left there was the service elevator, I believe was the one Elvis used to come down from his suite.
To the right was this much larger hallway that was much wider. As I walked, the pathway it continued this gradual right turn until I got to a point where off to my sharp right was a wide, dead end hallway. The interesting thing was that to my left the was a single door in front of me. I opened the door which was unlocked, only to find a second door. My nervous hand grasped the knob and tried to turn it but it was locked.
Basically I was a kid wanting nothing more than getting Elvis’ autograph. I could here Elvis singing“Can’t Help Falling In Love.” I backed out and stood in the hallway hoping I would be able to meet Elvis. But, to my dismay, as I stood there I saw multiple band members come out, but no Elvis. I stayed there for what seemed like 10 minutes or so, still no Elvis. Then I saw a Hilton security guard approached me who escorted me out of the employee’s only area.
I’m just wondering if that door was stage level, I assume it was since Elvis’ sing was so loud and clear. At the time I didn’t realize there was a level under the stage. If there ever was a time that I wish that I was a gorgeous girl it was then as I probably could have met Elvis.
Oh well, memories. Thank you for your channel, I appreciate it! If at some point you could film the path to the showroom it’d be great! Thanks again!
One last thing, if my memory serves me right, during Elvis’ August 1974 engagement I swear that at the center of the stage in the showroom there was like an approximately a six foot long stage extension that brought Elvis out closer into the audience. If you could confirm, that’d be great. Thank you again for your time and your patience with my long story.

Yes, there was an extension. You can see it in some fan footages on YT, specially from the september 1974 concerts.

Great Vlog Trey! Thanks! I was actually at the Hilton in Las Vegas in the early 90's and just had to go into the showroom. Back then there was a glass casing, just outside the entrance, with one of Elvis' jumpsuits in it. I wonder if that is still there?

I saw the movie last night, and became enthralled by all the discrepancies within the movie, compared to what I’ve learned by watching both you and Billy’s posts. Someday they’ll get it right, and maybe focus more on Elvis’ time in Germany, along with happy times and his generousity with the public.

The movie is terrible and I’m not afraid to tell the world that… Baz had an opportunity to make a masterpiece and he bazed it up.. and didn’t care about the most important thing.. the real Elvis History!

No interview with Billy Smith ir Nancy Rook or TG Shepherd or Kathy Westmoreland ir his backup singers, directors and costars, etc.Elvis was an upbeat person. He died from a heart attack. So many discrepancies. Elvis wiyld hate the movie.

They left out of the movie where Elvis had a boxing robe made for Muhammad Ali and how Elvis hid away at Ali's Deer Lake training camp for a few days just to rest and get away from press n everything. And when Elvis would rent out a theatre so that him and James Brown could watch a movie together with friends.
Muhammad Ali and James Brown should have been one of the highlights of ANY Elvis movie and documentary.

    • @GlobetrottingWithTrey
      @GlobetrottingWithTrey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Exactly because they were actually friends with Elvis… no need to make stuff up for a narrative.. tell the real story and you have a masterpiece
