You can buy an enclosed catio to put outside so she can go out but is still contained

THIS! My cat was indoor / outdoor but too many bad things can happen. He was lost for 5 days. He was hit by a car and survived but it was an expensive surgery to heal him! They love the outdoors but too dangerous! A CATIO is a great idea!

@@marinaseltzer1903 I have a cat that was a feral kitten when we got her 5 years ago and one day a couple years ago she got out again somehow and disappeared for 4 months before wandering back into our old apartment again. We had the door open bringing in groceries and she just walked right in. However it took us another couple of months to get her back in for good. Now we live in an apartment on the second floor where the front door leads to a hallway rather than right outside so she's become an indoor cat permanently again.

Hi Skyler! I love that you are asking as a first time cat dad. I would recommend keeping her inside. Where you are in southern Utah there are so many predators that could get her. Just safer inside.

Indoor cat! I’ve had cats my whole life and after a couple got hit by cars many, many years ago I only have them inside. They have lived long healthy, happy lives. The last to nearly 17 years and my present cat, identical to your kitten in looks is now 11 years old and very happy and healthy. You can also get catios which you can attach to a window opening so the cat can go inside and outside but safely. You can still close the window when needed. Outside cats rarely live to old age, get more injuries and I think a well loved inside cat that enjoys your company is a much better off. Little Milly is so sweet, just love her and keep her safe! Love watching your vlogs from England! ❤

I have a former feral and he comes and goes but I don’t let my cat that I have had since a kitten out because it’s dangerous and once they go out they will always want to go out. I have lost a lot of cats over the years by letting them go outside. Keep her in and make nice spots by the windows for her. Has she been to the Vet? Dewormed? Shots? It’s a great experience to bring the kids to the vet and teach them that animals need medical care just like people do.

  • @kerryburns9878

Definitely indoor cat. I’ve had both (over 60+ years). The outside cats got hit by cars, got poisoned, just disappeared, had fleas and worms, were in fights and required Vet visits, etc.
They will also catch small birds. 😟 My last cats caught a bluebird and brought it inside. I was able to get it away before it was hurt, but that was their last day outside. (I had been working so hard to attract the bluebirds!). They lived to 17 and 19 years of age.

My cat was an outdoor cat for 7 years when we lived in the countryside but we recently moved to a busy town and he is now an indoor cat. He adjusted very quickly but one suggestion is to get your cute kitten to wear a collar with an AirTag … it gives me complete peace of mind when I can see that he is at home and my kids haven’t let him out by accident, and I can actually find him by searching the AirTag in the house when I can’t see him anywhere! It’s a game changer!!! 😊
On another note, love your family, love your videos and your stories, thank you for sharing 😊

I have had several cats in my life and unfortunately I have had a couple that were both indoor and outdoor cats that sadly were hit by cars and killed. One of them was hit and killed right in front of me as I was trying to get her to come inside for the night. Most vets, including mine, will do the right thing by advising you NOT to let your cat outdoors because there are to many dangers and diseases out there. Other countries may do things differently but in the US especially it's A LOT safer for your cat to be indoors. Indoor cats are also the healthiest cats. Where I used to live was pretty much a dumping ground for cats that then became sick and feral which in turn can make your cat sick if they get into a fight with them. We also live in a state where coyotes are known for attacking and carrying off small dogs and cats as well as other wildlife. Please keep your cat safe by keeping it indoors! If you want her to be an indoor/outdoor cat then you can do a couple different things to keep her safe. You can build a catio enclosure or you can train her to walk on a leash and take her out on walks. She's young enough that she can be leash trained but I still recommend either keeping her completely indoors or building a catio enclosure to your house.

I have had a number of cats through the years, 65 yo. I have found some cats are street wise and some are not. Also, depends on how many predators are around as to the survival of your cat. I have decided that my cats will only be indoor cats. Also, just to let you know, once you start letting them out, then decide to keep them indoors, they will meow, a lot, to be outside and try to sneak out.

I’d recommend having Millie be an indoor cat but giving her supervised time outside! I have a fenced in backyard and allow my cat to go out there, but we keep an eye on her to make sure she’s staying in the yard and not eating grass. Over time she has learned not to go to certain corners that I worry she could get out of. If you’re diligent they will learn what is allowed and be content not trying to escape. You can also get a collar that will hold an AirTag so you can track her if she ever did get out. Another option is a screened in porch/catio, but my cat still longed to go outside. She gets to hang out in the patio as much as she wants, and then gets backyard time multiple times a week.

Cats do love to climb over the fence perhaps get enclosed fence for her safety , not get into cat fights, and avoid any vet bills..Get Millie vaccinated, and desexed. By the way your children are growing up so fast.

Have had kitties my whole life almost 54 years. Tried indoor but never worked out they wanted out and to me that’s just their natural environment. So have always done indoor outdoor. Female spayed kitties stay close to home normally and want to be with you. My female goes out when I do and on occasion hangs out on couch on my carport. Just know your environment if you let them out without you… use common sense they will do great. Millie is adorable. Ps. Kittens need to be with you when outside until older and comfortable. Have fun.

If you let the cat out only do it supervised and in a fenced backyard. You could also harness train her and take her on walks (it can be done!). Cats are natural predators and they are also naturally curious so that combination can get them lost or injured. So outside with limits. Also consider that she may shed more if she goes outside often.

It’s best recommended to keep them inside, they also cause huge destruction to the bird population, can get hit by cars, or hurt by other animals. Get a catio or a leash if you want to give her some outdoor time. I’ve had cats indoor my entire life and it’s recommended by rescues even to keep them inside for the best safety of the cats and other animals.

I've worked at a veterinary clinic for 25 years and for me, 100% indoor only. My cats could always sit in windows to get fresh air. My cats had towers and toys. They were happy and safe. You wouldn't believe some of the horrible things I've seen happen to outdoor kitties. People shooting them with bb guns, caught in traps, etc. We just had a kitten come in a week ago who was found stuck in a car wash. They had to take the car wash apart to free him. We had to remove his leg. 😟Neighbors who aren't cat fans appreciate it when you keep your cats inside. My neighbors cat uses my flower boxes and Mulch as it's litter pan. 👎 Once you let them out, they will get it in their blood and will be impossible to keep inside. My recommendation is to not even get it started going outside.

I don’t believe in forcing a cat to live its whole life indoors. I have a 17 year old cat that goes out every night! He loves it. My other cat stays in a lot of the time but still enjoys to go out and roll around and eat grass. She is about 10. I think of it this way. Would I want to spend my whole life inside? Would I do that to my kids? No. A free life going inside and out is far superior to a captive life. 😊

Indoor/Outdoor cat depends upon how close you are to fast traffic areas. My cats are in/out depending upon their mood but I have over an acre of land with a lot of underbrush and other structures where the cats can hide and shade and hunt, etc... Keep your kitten in until she is fixed and is about 1 year old so she is physically capable of fending for herself. Also, get or make a cat tree for her so she can practice climbing since that's one of the ways cats get out of trouble. There are cat door options for your sliding patio door so she can go in and out, but again I would wait until she is at least a year old to give her free reign to choose in or out even at night.

Hi Skyler, Daisy, Violet, Lily, Lincoln and Logan,
I loved looking at, listening to and watching this 12 minutes and 51 seconds video of you all having fun.
Wow well done to you all, I love all the toys you all picked out for being so good for having stickers left on your good behaviour sticker charts.
Lincoln I love the Science Stalagmites and Stalactites box you chose. Years ago I have been in a real cave that had Stalagmites growing up from the cave floor trying to reach the top of the cave and Stalactites hang down from the top of the cave because they hang on tight. I am not into Science I just know how Stalagmites and Stalactites grow in a cave. They are rather interesting. Maybe when you are older you can go see them in a real cave with a guided tour. Skyler I do not have a cat. Did have a dog years ago that was nearly 19 when I had him put to sleep from losing weight, deaf, blind and having fits. If you take Mille outside maybe buy a bell to hang around her neck to frighten the birds away so she does not catch any.
Whitney I love the Silly Super game you organized and put together for the Quints.
I also loved the games they played while the Olympic Games were on TV. They all looked like they had so much fun. By the way Whitney your face looks stunningly beautiful with makeup on and being groomed so well. I am just saying. I like guys not girls just thought you looked pretty that is all. I do love your bond with the Quints you all love each other very much, get on so well and have so much fun together. I loved the big movie screen where you all watched a Harry Potter movie and the sparklers and the Nemo the Firework Fish you all had fun with what fun.
You all have a great day.
Love from Natalie Spratford a big fan of all your photos and videos from Australia

Being a blank cat is be afraid to let her out. People can be mean and black cats get hurt because of that. Our black cat we named Lucky

I have indoor /outdoor cats. LOL. My two are indoor only (they do have a screened porch to be on) UNLESS I put their harnesses on and we walk (I follow, they lead) around the back yard. They do well with the leashes, and I've had the twosome for five and half years. We started the harness leash walking when they were about Millie's size. Rabbit Goo harness is a harness that fits around the neck and slide buckles around the waist. Amazon sells them in different sizes for cats. Millie could go out safely and you could take your daily walk with her. Have you mixed up the names and called Lily "Millie"( or the other way around) yet? LOL

We have our 3 cats indoors only! It’s definitely a lot and safer. If they are outside they can wander off or get eaten by a predator. (At least where we live). So I recommend indoor only cats!

Please indoor only!!!! A cat is content indoors/ but if they are let outside they will always try to dart out the door. My indoor cats have lived to 18yr - 17 years - currently we have 2 cats 8 yr old & 5 year old. All of them were content indoors. 💜

My sister and I had a cat that we let wander outside because we didn’t know better, and he ended up being hit and killed by a car directly outside our house at only 6 years old, even though we didn’t even live on a busy street. We regret every day not keeping him as an solely indoor cat, so now I recommend to everyone I can to not let their cats wander freely outside!

I'm sorry you lost your cat. Still, I think it's better to have 6 years of a free and happy life outside than 16 years locked up inside. You don't have to regnet anything.

we've had cats all my life and all were outdoor/indoor. but only 3 lived to old age because the others mostly got hit by cars, one wandered off and never came back. the 4 we have now have never been outside without being in a carrier to go to a vet visit... they're my daughter's cats and we couldn't see her heart broken if any of them got hit by cars or ran away, too.
looks like millie might be a bombay cat.. they're very loving and are velcro cats!

My cat goes outside and is now 17 years old. Of course she is exposed to more dangers outside, but I still think it's right to let cats outside because it's just their nature and they can hunt there. If you keep her as an indoor cat, I would get a second kitten so that she has enough to do.

He -he is so much fun and so loving to your children! 🩷. Love her! Millie is a sweetie she has plent of an area to roam in your house so she’ll get plenty of exercise inside. You can also buy perches to attach to window sso they can look outside! I thinkit’s wonderful that you have a cat!

Our cat is indoor/outdoor. The whole reason bc he would come home during the night with crazy injuries. He was out cat-ting. No more after a few vet bills. Now he comes in before dark. We get him in with dinner. We’ve doing this for 12 years 👍🏻🫶🏻😻
