Seems a capable but very vanilla design to me. It'll be like all Traxxas, a tad overpriced but people will buy it cause it's easy to get into without too much in the way of fuss (things breaking, or needing maintenance).
Big swing and a miss from traxxas. Their first mistake is naming it jato. A onroad car. Their second mistake is 2s at $350 when there is already competition in that price range that are superior.
Wow I am a little confused. Did Traxxas really put a 1/10 scale power setup in something that should be clearly 3-4s? Will be a good quality buggy but it is so under powered for a 1/8th. It should be competing with the typhon 3s and the Corally Syncro 4 which are both cheaper. Nice honest video Thanks.
Got my typhon 6s for 400 on sale like 3 years ago. Ten times the truck for 100 more bucks. It’s one of my favorites and I do own Traxxas had to start somewhere.
They must be running out of ideas, its just a boxed up backslash with a bigger price tag. If they were smart they would sell a backslash kit instead of this
This isnt even on the Traxxas model page, where is it? Correction, found it but you need to search for it. They make the VXL but it doesnt seem worth it. Been waiting on a BANDIT 4x4 VXl with aluminum chassis. Traxxas is just out of ideas
Cool. $400 for a 2s plastic buggy? Nah. I wonder if it'll take flight with speed gearing installed? Maybe TRX should have called it Dumbo instead of JATO? LOL. Nice job Razor.
You know Traxxas is going to make a ton of upgrades put a 3S or 4S system in it and try to get even more money. That’s what they do they’re just. Releasing this hunk first. so people build it all up and spend more money
2s in a 1/8 😢. I'm new to this hobby. I just went out and bought a kraton 6s and the big rock 3s. I'm trying to be a basher and I'm glad I got into the Arrma brand more than Traxxas. Good choice. I used to buy exclusively Traxxas until I got my first Arrma. Not only have I not bought a Traxxas since, I only have 2 Traxxas left in my collection.
I thought $350 for this was overpriced, $400 is just robbery. That's how much I paid for my Typhon 6S when it went on sale on Amazon. All aluminum everything, 65mph out of the box, tire shredding 6S power for $400-$500. This Jato is an insult.
Is the bl-2s system meant to replace the brushed 1st release models Traxxas always does and the titan 550 is gone for good? And then they release the vxl system after or is this is the vxl models replacement to cheap out. Also are these 2s system models priced the same as a brushed system woulda been?
Thanks a lot for telling about the huge wheel offset. I was considering getting the VXL, or eventually the ultimate version. No being able to put on normal race spec buggy wheels is a problem. Not a complete deal breaker, if the Traxxas wheels would fit normal 8 scale buggy tires. Anyways, I will probably get one anyways and drive it for fun on the track. Also, the BL-2s version is a bad joke at 349 .-
Price for price, assuming sAmish customer, id point them at the RTR habao 10tt .... Seems bold for Traxxas to push that out considering what others are doing right now
This is crazy Arrma had the from blx line now and there shit is 200$ and under and can do 3s and 55mph that the hell is traxxas doing that jato should be like 180 $ 3:39 at most 2s? Cmon 400$ this is ridiculous I like traxxas but I’m starting lean more towards arrma lately due to being more durable for the money
If it had a 6s setup it would be worth the 400+ dollar pricetag, but for it to have a BL-2s it should be closer to 300 like the other 1/10 scale BL-2s cars from traxxas. It also should have taken the BackSlash name. The Jato is a stadium truck, this is a slash 4x4 with a wing and bumper delete
I made a mistake on the price, it's $349.95 in the U.S., this video was made before the buggy's price was officially announced.

This is 1/10th scale Slash BL-2S 4x4 with a gigantic dumbass wing on the back. $250 seems like a fairer price.
@@cadevaughn7596 $150 Would be about right.
you're not wrong
Wow I am a little confused. Did Traxxas really put a 1/10 scale power setup in something that should be clearly 3-4s? Will be a good quality buggy but it is so under powered for a 1/8th. It should be competing with the typhon 3s and the Corally Syncro 4 which are both cheaper. Nice honest video Thanks.
Traxxas dont know what to bring out any more to keep up with arrmas releases.
Got my typhon 6s for 400 on sale like 3 years ago. Ten times the truck for 100 more bucks. It’s one of my favorites and I do own Traxxas had to start somewhere.
They must be running out of ideas, its just a boxed up backslash with a bigger price tag. If they were smart they would sell a backslash kit instead of this
Those shock towers look WEAK.
Rather get the mini Maxx and some upgrades
2S powerd $400 way to much !!! You can buy the Arrma 3S buggy for half the price!
This isnt even on the Traxxas model page, where is it? Correction, found it but you need to search for it. They make the VXL but it doesnt seem worth it. Been waiting on a BANDIT 4x4 VXl with aluminum chassis. Traxxas is just out of ideas
I guess it has the same battery-tray as the upcoming VXL..so can it fit an ordinary spektrum 4s lipo?
Are the front and rear shocks the same length?
2S…….. OMG 😮
Cool. $400 for a 2s plastic buggy? Nah. I wonder if it'll take flight with speed gearing installed? Maybe TRX should have called it Dumbo instead of JATO? LOL. Nice job Razor.
there is no reason to buy one at that price it should be a lot higher specification ,i will stick with my arrma typhon 3s
Overpriced
literally, the arrma typhon GROM blx is a way better deal..it’s $189.99-219.99 and can go up to 50 mph, let alone the bigger 3s version lol
Yeah great video mate as always 👍. I converted my slash to a buggy years ago and 4s. I was sick of that parachute effect from the body.
The Jato should've been on a shorter Sledgehammer chassis.
Right now this just looks like everyone's backslash project.
The epitome of Traxxas. Lol
I actually like the car istelf. But $399? OMG. I would actually want to own a Jato, but I won't pay that much for it.
price is $350. confirmed.
These are coming out of a factory for about £80. 😂😂
You know Traxxas is going to make a ton of upgrades put a 3S or 4S system in it and try to get even more money. That’s what they do they’re just. Releasing this hunk first. so people build it all up and spend more money
New Plastic GTR shocks rite..??
sorry, yes plastic. I thought they were the alloy gray ones.
@RazorRC Also get ur 50 dollars back from the hobby shop
JUST CALL IS THE BANDOT 4x4. TRAXXAS HAS LOST THE MIND
2s in a 1/8 😢. I'm new to this hobby. I just went out and bought a kraton 6s and the big rock 3s. I'm trying to be a basher and I'm glad I got into the Arrma brand more than Traxxas. I personally thought the Traxxas cars seem cheap and were very expensive when I was at the hobby store. I'm sure they're great cars. But I chose Arrma. I already destroyed my 6s though😂 oh well I just ordered just bash it chassis along with a bunch of other goodies 😜 by the way, really cool channel! I just subscribed. I watched a lot of your videos to help make my decision. Cheers!
Ur looking at the traxxas version of the "bandit" 4×4!😂
Good choice. I used to buy exclusively Traxxas until I got my first Arrma. Not only have I not bought a Traxxas since, I only have 2 Traxxas left in my collection.
I've got a 3665 hobbywing in my tool box. Do you think this will fit?
Of course it will.
Even a 4274 will still fit. Only difficulty is getting the ESC in. But possibly.
350$ for this is diabolical
This should have a 4s system 3s at least. Im calling them in the morning. Not cool at all
I thought $350 for this was overpriced, $400 is just robbery. That's how much I paid for my Typhon 6S when it went on sale on Amazon. All aluminum everything, 65mph out of the box, tire shredding 6S power for $400-$500. This Jato is an insult.
MAYBE A 250 RC.
Also, the BL-2s version is a bad joke at 349 .-
Wow does it fly? That wing is over powering lol.
Just look @ the body itself😢
Price for price, assuming sAmish customer, id point them at the RTR habao 10tt .... Seems bold for Traxxas to push that out considering what others are doing right now
For one they need to rename it, second why is traxxas obsessed with 2s on everything? They cost enough should at least be 3s out the gate
For more speed go up to a 14-tooth pinion gear and add the ESC fan. I ran that gearing at a local off-road track and it cleared every jump.
FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS WHATT let me guess a 3s brushless is going to be what 700 dollars
I think for spec class buggy to get new guys started at the track this'll work.
mmm yes, very interesting new traxxas buggy. however, arrma typhon 3s
I made one of these years ago out of a slash 4x4 ultimate and ran it on 4s
This would actually be an interesting price point and competitor in the market if it was the same price but 3s (true brushless, bl2s is lame)
Traxxas are so fuggin out of touch with reality it's not even funny anymore. Glad I sold my Traxxas XRT and Maxx and replaced them with ARRMAs.
A TC Asuga kit is 440..A mojave 4s is 400..typhon 3s 330 euros..all better cars..expensive for what it offers
Great review. Good to see traxxas coming out with something new but just wrong in so many departments.. esp at that price point.
You mean putting a different body on the same chassis like they always do. They've released one new platform in 3 years.
400?! Slash 4x4 bl2s is 330 and it handled lovely. And if you keep it stock set up it will last forever.
How many amps is this 2s esc?
This is crazy Arrma had the from blx line now and there shit is 200$ and under and can do 3s and 55mph that the hell is traxxas doing that jato should be like 180 $ 3:39 at most 2s? Cmon 400$ this is ridiculous I like traxxas but I’m starting lean more towards arrma lately due to being more durable for the money
Grom**
If it had a 6s setup it would be worth the 400+ dollar pricetag, but for it to have a BL-2s it should be closer to 300 like the other 1/10 scale BL-2s cars from traxxas. It also should have taken the BackSlash name. The Jato is a stadium truck, this is a slash 4x4 with a wing and bumper delete
My local hobbyshop has them in stock (not for sale yet though) and the boxes are marked $359.99
this is traxxas's answer to the 3s typhon, thats $70 cheaper and is more powerful? traxxas really is the apple of the rc world.
2s 1/8 scale?!?
Is it a 4WD Bandit VXL in all essence?
Why in the world would anyone buy a 2S 1:8 scale buggy for $350(ish)??? That's a $200 buggy all day even with the Traxxas tax.
