Just got one today and got suckered into buying the Blue one that’s $30 more vs the non battery version. Glad I did though because now I have 2 2S batteries and honestly on 3S this thing is crazy even on 75%. I’ll probably run it with the 2S battery mostly
I already wanted a Typhon Grom, which I had planned to convert to brushless...so, the fact that they finally released a brushless version is a huge 'plus'. However, as I am sure many others could agree, I am disappointed that they continue to stick with the 2-in-1 ESC/Rx. A 2-in-1 ESC/motor wouldn't be so bad, but I think a lot of people would really prefer to see a (replaceable) standalone Rx, they could replace with a receiver of their own choosing, including receivers of other brands.
Your review only needs one thing... your giggles and laughter. That's all I need to know. If it is making you, a "professional" RC reviewer, smile like that, than I am certain it will do the same for me and everyone else.
I've been on the fence about these little Groms, especially since they are quite expensive here compared to the competition, but being brushless does make it more appealing. No doubt it will also be the dearest in class, but I'm definitely interested to try at least one of them. Long gone are the days of ARRMA offering good "bang for your buck" (is Aus) or being labled a "budget brand", but if the quality and support is there, then that might sway some people to buy them, myself included.
Arrma definitely is no longer an economy brand, but the new stuff has all been really good. How much do you think this will cost vs. say an Associated Reflex 14B? Here, the Reflex is $10 cheaper, so they're both similar in price.
Just like the Typhon on 6S it takes time to master without any stability control. So, owners are going to have to take their time and exercise throttle discipline lol. If Proline makes buggy badlands for this like the ones I just put on my TLR, it's going to be flat-out godlike.
I usually reserve small scale rcs for areas that are not so open, otherwise will seem slow, and then when its fast to compensate for that, harder to handle especially with the terrain
I've been thinking about getting a RC car I love the size the speed and that it's a buggy I'm in a wheelchair so the size will be perfect and all the upgraded too lol
Its so cool. It reminds me of the wltoys 144001, but durable and tough. I literally just bought my first xmaxx two days ago, but I guess im gonna have to pull out my poor little wallet again 😂. Thanks for the video!
When the mini maxx was announced i was like damn they might’ve beaten arrma on the mini’s but this coming out and cheaper no arrma straight takes it again 50mph out the box achievable steel drive shafts aluminum shocks gyro etc but the mini maxx hasn’t came out so i cant say much love my maxx and maxx slash so i bet the mini maxx will be tough excited for this drop aswell looking forward to that typhon
I have all 3 of the brushed groms and they are awesome although I wish they had given the Granite body and clip system a bit more thought. Love the look of the brushless versions but not sure if I will get one.
Because people have already had the regular version and installed the upgrades these come with. And they're the best small scale once upgraded. Now they're RTR with all the upgrades. So yeah, it's the best in class
@RazorRC oh yeah, 100%. No point in the brushed one now unless ur giving it to a kid or something. I have a bone stock one and one i upgraded to brushless. Selling them both now for this BLX version with all those upgrades parts. Full option!
This Grom is a nice package for under $200. But I agree that the LC EMB-1 is the premium pick...LC also has a couple good online sources for parts support that has not let me down. Then I think the TA Reflex slots in-between the two. As for the WLToys, I always thought quality of materials is pretty sketch. And Rlaarlo, I'm a bit hesitant about parts support...it could be OK, I just don't know. You get what you pay for.
I'm not sure you can upgrade a standard version of these to this spec to make it a practical alternative. For the money you really just gotta buy the new version. That's the excuse i gave the little lady at least. She doesn't even know the original Mojave Grom has the Furitek system in it already. Sshhhhh.
Yep, I'm returning the two brushed I bought last week for my son and I on Monday. Glad I put them away for Christmas and didn't open them... Also glad these came out just in time for me to make the 15 day return window at the hobby shop! 😅
This exactly what I was hoping they'd do. Full option, 2S/3S Grom. Couldn't be better
@@K5_RC knocked it out of the park IMO
Looking great. And congrats on making the first review of this little animal 😊 (that I know).

Thanks for the tip on the DSC! I wasn't sure how that worked!
@@JayTeeRC thanks for checking out the video!
Thanks for detailing how the DSC works. Arrma has been killing it. 👍🏽

Great video!! I just pre ordered my Mojave from blx!! Can’t wait
Awesome video man

Nice little ripper 🔥
yes!
Gotta get one of these
This is EXACTLY what we needed!
I have to ask. Are you predicting that the mini maxx will be more fun to you providing it lives up to the maxx name?
Mini Maxx is a MT, and I'm guessing it drives like a Maxx. I've never been a fan of the way the Maxx drives, so...
If you were gonna try and make this a truggy, what tire would you use? A nice foam tire for jumping would be ideal.
They need to make a Raider Grom. I love 2wd buggies.
Cant you just remove the grom center drive shaft?
Let’s see that thing on 3s!!!!!!!
