- Here's how to fix a pulled out door handle with stripped screw holes. This repair was performed on an MDF door. I pulled the door handle too hard, and the handle came out. The fix for this loose door handle? Fill the stripped screw holes with dowels so that the screws have something to bite into. Door handle fell off? Hope this repair video will help!

Perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for sharing 😁
Thank you very much for this!!! Fixed my door today.
Great video, done this today and sorted my handle out 👍
Very helpful, thank you!
nice fix - will apply the same later today
Very very very helpful, thank you very much
Thanks for ur video. I'm a woman that had the handle come off in her hand. I think that I can fix my problem after watching ur video. I don't know if the screws are stripped yet? At least I know where to begin. I didn't have a clue about how to remove the ring. I just need to locate my Allen wrench and my screwdriver. Great video.
Thank you! Probably saved me about £70 there! 😂
Ive had a niggling 'need to fix' door handle on my outer porch. niggling because I was unsure what the best solution might be. You've answered it perfectly. Now it's done! many thanks for your informative video
Happy to help!
We have the same door handle and same issue. Great video - thank you!
Three years later, I now have it on the other side :)
Thank for the tip
Thanks, so simple (and so annoying). 👍🏻
great idea .....
May I ask what can I use for the 4th side screw will an Allen key fit?
Yes. In my case, a hex/allen key fits in the screw on the handle
My exact problem. All the bits now bought to fix. You're a star!
Just s quick question, what are you wrapping the drill bit with, masking paper?
To know how deep the bit is. It's to know when to stop when you are drilling into something
Thank you. Really wish my landlord wasn't a cheapskate using this crap as a front door... I've already tried different ways but it always comes out, the holes are big at this point. I'll try to use epoxy glue to be honest, find it hard to believe wood glue would be able to hold it
We had a broken handle door and on the outside it broke so we think we could'nt get out so i used the screws and the door opened
hello, i have a handle that fell apart from the both sides of the door, like if i touch the handle it stays in my hand and from another side of the door, it falls out ... what is my solution ?
My guess is there's a small screw at the base of the handle that's fallen out.
What glue did u use
Fast drying wood glue. Nothing fancy. Just make sure you use a lot because MDF sucks it up
Screw-plug might have been faster and easier.
Its all good untill u got nothing that holds it on
or just use a wooden match stick. Put a little glue on it and stick it in hole, break it off even. Put screw back in. Fixed in 1/4 of the time with no tools other than screwdriver
I'm wondering if this should be the first option, then use dowels if it doesn't work or comes loose later.
Nice fix with the dowels, but anyone installing shouldnt use these screws.
The screw in the video are metal self drilling, ideal for sheet metal, and dont provide proper grip to the wood
- the threads are too fine, and will more quickly be pulled out
Soft wooden dowels did not hold the screws. Harder wood is better
True. I first tested this with bamboo chopsticks, but that was a disaster. The dowels I used in the video are made of beech wood and they're still holding up
Cocktail sticks or matchstick will do the job, and quicker
