I live in 🇬🇧 and I joined Ukristo na Ufanisi in 2004/2005. I have not looked back. I would recommend it to anyone. I have got loans from them and love the fact that when I go home, I have a stash of cash as I have shares and saving.

Amref Sacco works for me! No loan queues and great returns. Despite the challenging year 2020 the returns were excellent with 15% dividend on share capital and 8.5% interest on members deposits.
It's an old and stable SACCO.. since 1983 and an asset base of KES 2billion! They accept individuals referrals from members and staff of NGOs or corporates on a check off. Oh..and thanks to Amref Sacco I am a proud land owner! Their plots are fairly priced and the cost is inclusive of title deed processing.

Hi Terryanne, am a member of Stima, to correct you the dividends payment for share capital last two years was 14% and not 17% as you stated but you are correct on the savings (deposits), they were paid at 10.75%.

I joined Ukristo na Ufanisi Sacco 9 years ago and got no regrets, the services are available while in the country and also if in the diaspora. Wish I actually joined earlier.
Cosmopolitan Sacco for teachers is another great one.

I agree with you, I joined Unaitas but getting a loan is so difficult because I don’t know anyone in the Sacco who can be my guarantor. I have been with them for long but even a small loan have been impossible.

Thanks, Teeryanne for the financial literacy nuggets..need you to address the issue of guarantors when you choosing a SACCO..should you join a SACCO that you have acquaintances so that they may guarantee you when you need a loan?
Usually that's the case, but will ask around different SACCOS to find out more, and if CRB status affects loan applications positively

I also need this.. before making any decision to join one. You should be careful coz the cons might make you go crazy if hop on those saccos
Thank you Charity, first thing is to ensure that the SACCO is regulated by SASRA, you can find them on google, and also the older SACCos are very stable and have a great reputation. So look around, speak with people around you as well to find out who they invest/ save with. It is very important to understand what you are getting into, you can book a meeting with one of the top SACCO's so they can explain it to you properly.

How does Sacco help,for me I have so many weakness pleas help me because,I can't save money on my bank ,I can save even upto 20k but I will end up using my card on unnecessary things,so I don't know how I can save and I have kids which will need school fees in few years please help me

Hey Sharon ..all I can advise is that save some money to buy shares and the rest cash save it deposits where you know you will restrict yourself from withdrawing .

No there isn't a limit, but why would you want to join many?

No I won't advice anyone to join sacco I have seen many going bankrupt ,my self lost 450k on bands sacco 2015 when is was run bankrupt I with many other teams famers suffered and upto date I haven't got my money back

This is an umbrella body for saccos, therefore not a sacco for individual members. Individual saccos are affiliated to KUSCCO since it does advocacy for the saccos among many other financial services. See their website
