Thank you so much for shedding more light on this. My sacco is by my Catholic Church and my mom literally forced me to join it and now I thank her so much for it. The MAJOR thing I dislike about saccos is how I can't access my money until I exit or revoke my membership. I mean I'm trying to live a debt free life and I can do with my savings only... Why are you not giving me the option of getting my savings without kicking me out of the sacco.(Ps:You is the sacco)
You're welcome. I am happy you joined it. However, from my research, SACCOS are best for saving if you intend to borrow, because ideally thanks to your savings, you'll be able to borrow your money and more. Anyway, SACCO rules stand by, if you want your savings back, its either you borrow against them or leave the SACCO. I believe the main point of that, is to keep money in the SACCO. Its tough but it helps people save forcefully :)

To be a member of a Sacco you need to buy shares. Saccos set a minimum share purchase amount for instance Unaitas Sacco is 100. Mwalimu Sacco is 1,000 and Safaricom Sacco is 40,000.
These shares are non refundable.
Savings (FOSA) is like your ordinary bank account.
Non Withdrawal account Savings; is the main scheme. This is refundable/accessible upon exit if the Sacco after 60 days notice.
It's this amount the Sacco will apply it's multiplier to determine your loan limit.

They or some don't give 3 times.My experience...I was asked for security i.e logbook or title when i asked for a loan that exceed my 200k savings.
For unsecured loan they will give you half of your savings.

Am not aware, but with research, google and calls, you'll find a couple. Better yet, ask your parents, aunts, they must know a couple and probably recommend from experience.

Can I save like 50k once in a sacco then after some time I borrow a loan? Or it is a must that I save monthly?
Depends on the SACCO you are a part of, but most need you to save for at least 3-6 months before borrowing.

As for my case i wish i can join one,,, problem is which is the best coz i tried stima but i didn't like it,,,, don't know maybe the customer service there wasn't explanatory enuf............. Plus the hustle of getting guarantors is the problem
Research. Before joining your next one, do ample research and ask many questions. Also, start with people close to you. Ask the which SACCOs they are in. They have first hand experience.

What if I don't have someone who is the sacco and I need a loan
That might prove to be difficult. SACCOs work on guarantors or you give them something to hold like a title deed or car log book to be given the loan.

I don't know the 'best' per se. There are many good SACCOS, it's where you'll find guarantors or people to work with.
