    Was working on constructing a piece while watching this workshop. It’s a big apron made out of a patchwork of upholstery fabric samples.

    Awesome ideas, thanks!
    I'm currently working on a pair of double-knee Carhartts, they can take lots of heavy distressing and machine-washing without falling apart.
    Someday, when I can finally afford the trip, I'm definitely coming to Wasteland Weekend! 😊

      I'm just curious on your thoughts of using a wire wheel on a grinder?
      whether or not you've tried it, and if it would work well or not?
      I could envisage it speeding the process up, however I'm not sure if it might be too fierce or inaccurate compared to doing it with a hand wire brush....
      I'm planning on building an outfit for when I can afford a trip to wasteland, and this is all really helpful information you have.
      Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and tips, I will be sure to check out your site
      (also thank you to The Apocalypse Post for capturing this and uploading it for others to see)

    Something else you can do is put objects under the materials then rough up the cloth over the item if it has texture that will transfer to the rough up part. Same effect with oil dye etc.

    "No shortcuts to really ageing stuff..." Isn't that precisely what this workshop is for? lol!

    Where can I get find old military clothing??? Or the clothes you use? What is he saying a "surform shaver"?

    • @TheApocalypsePost
      @TheApocalypsePost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out Army-Navy stores for old military stuff. There's 2 types of stores, one sells mostly unused gear, the other source old, used gear. Check out a few stores to see what they have.

    I really enjoy the creativity wasteland implies but then you read the website and realize you're limited to their style lol.

    • @Antiganos
      @Antiganos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a huge variety of styles here, the only requirements are that you would look believable in the background of a post apocalyptic movie. There's hardly any limitation other than *must be dirty*.

    • @AnubisSolvang
      @AnubisSolvang 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Antiganos well let's see if I blend in lol. Costumes are fun because they have a story to tell. Not everyone just wants to slap on leather and chains or paint themselves white. I'm assuming you got your ticket already?

    • @Antiganos
      @Antiganos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnubisSolvang Most of us absolutely build our costumes to tell a story, and very very few go as warboys or in leather. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you go, stop by the Killjoys for a ride and some shade.

    As a baby Wastelander, this was some incredibly useful information. I find it so helpful when someone takes the time and breaks everything down, especially with weathering. Thank you for the upload!!

    I honestly can’t handle how many items they pack on. Don’t understand, it wouldn’t be efficient in the mad max world, just makes you hotter? Yeah it looks cool, but wouldn’t it be easier to wear thin items during the day and a thicker thing for night since I guess it gets cold. And especially if you’re on ur own, and have a car, just ditch ur clothes in the car and wear lightly? Changing clothes when you need. A lot of the stuff just seems like more of a burden rather than something with a helpful reason. Sure it’s for aesthetic but it’s not efficient, to myself.

    • @TheApocalypsePost
      @TheApocalypsePost  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know quite a few wastelanders who pack on the extras for pictures, contests, and for showing off a few hours each day, but then put on lighter fare for the rest of the time. Don't forget, its about living in the post-apocalypse, so for our charactors those are the things we need to "survive".

    Wasn't able to get out there in 2018 like I planned (And sadly not 2019) and was sad I missed this since I have been off and on in contact with mark for a year or so now. Thank you for this as he explained some methods I have been trying to figure out myself.
