For people asking WHY DO THEY HAVE A BUNKER? She mentioned the 1967 Tasmania bushfires, so that is why they're precautionary and they have built their "bushfire bunker" so that they still have a place to stay but can also be around to protect and save the house, if they can.

Thank you for sharing that insight to your lovely house. I would be interested in the insulation methods, battery life and overall costs of storing electricity. Also what about water catching and recycling/processing grey waters. Looking at dry composting our waste for our plot on a small rocky island in the tropics. Building using local materials does have problems with the sun, salt air and especially the bokbok (think wordworm/termites with attitude - Boracic acid is one method) Thank you.

North, they're in the southern hemisphere so houses have to face north for solar gain.
You just have to be 90th+ percentile to be able to afford this. No biggie. Very practical and realistic.
