The AFRICAN HOOPOE and the drongos

Watch how this African Hoopoe probes for caterpillars in the soil and flees when the drongos give a warning call. Usually the drongos do that when it was prey in its beak and it flees and leaves the prey for them to eat.

Amazing how vulnerable day-to-daylife is for these precious creatures we almost take for granted 😮. Could the sparrow hawk have killed the hoopoe, or does it pray on smaller birds.. like finches?

On a daily basis, the many drongoes here, harass the 5-9 group of hoopoes, stealing their bugs and worms. It is exasperating to watch, but I accept that life is such.
Thank you for your interesting upload. It has been a balm for my offended sense of indignation.

That is nature. The drongos even make warning calls of the meerkats when they find an insect and they drop it and run back to their burrows and the drongos swoop down and eat their bug. Shows how very clever drongos are to be able to fool so many animals.
