The lake supports the largest fresh-water fishery in the world, producing 1,000,000 tons of fish per year. The lake also employs at least 200,000 people in supporting the livelihoods of 4,000,000 people.

This is over fishing, because the Nile Pearch is a very good necessary evil fish. Sweet but also deadly,. The Ugandan government is protecting the late so that we don't lose so much revenue but the Kenyan team is not doing much to protect the lake.
