- After a couple of tries and a couple hours of editing, I finally got a version that's video/audio sync corrected. Keep in mind that the VHS tape I had this show on is over 37 years old so the quality is so so .... but, the audio held up to spotlight this amazing performance. I know Mel and Gil would of appreciated the upload. Even Mel sez during the show if you have a VCR you might want to tape this. Glad I still had the tape and proud to had worked on this show with a lot of talented artist and musicians that night. Watch at the very end where the guys do a promo for WHYY. More to come.....Enjoy!

Also.....here’s something I’d like to share….2 years ago, The GDVO featuring my good friend Guy Daniel (City Lights Recording Studio) The Chi-Lites, Denroy Morgan, Raymond Earle and Kym Miller from Instant Funk released a track entitled "Peace". This song needs to be an anthem for the worlds situation at the moment. Check it out and see if you agree!

I'm loving this ❤ still here 2024❤
My generation was the best and thank to those who brought us good music with their own talent. Wish I had a Time Machine and bring them back. May God. Bless all this Soul brothers were ever they are.
Wonderful evening of entertainment...Thanks for sharing. The Philly sound is great.
Dope show "" Exceptional group 👏 "" Thank you mr. HEROLD MELVIN "" may you continue to 🙏 RIP""
There's only one Teddy Pendergrass but this guy is pretty good
That's Teddy Pendergrass if you ordered him of off Wish
@@adamrobinson2078😂
One of the best ever. Like so many other male groups that defined that 70's R&B sound. "Hope we'll be together soon" with Sharon, Teddy and Harold is a masterpiece and the main reason I purchased that album in 1975.
There’s no doubt that they sound very very very good. Bring a lot of memories. T this reminds me of you in LA when times were good. Wherever you are.
Harold Melvin you tried very hard to sound like Teddy, and look like Teddy
Harold Melvin, you was better off just being yourself 😉
I could not believe that people thought Teddy pendergrass was you Harold Melvin. No matter how many guys try to sing like Teddy pendergrass. It's going to be a tough act to follow.
You have a lot of women who loves tall and dark skin men. I especially if he's a clean cut, kind of Guy. I would think about
Him, to being my found Teddy pendergrass 🥰
@@margiestreater5959 When in this concert did Harold Melvin 'try' to sound like Teddy Pendergrass?
It appears, at least on this post, that YOU thought Teddy Pendergrass was Harold Melvin, or vice-versa. Harold Melvin isnt confused_____he was the one who hired Teddy in the first place to be a drummer, then as the featured soloist for the group.
Harold Melvin has owned this group since the late 50's and knows what he is doing. I'm just saying that I think you are the one is confused as to the roles on the group.
Absolutely!
I never been to LA.
Wow what an excellent performance..especially the guy that replaced Teddy Pendergrass..this is the best Harold Melvin tribute nucleus ever
Simply beautiful thank you for sharing👏🏽💖
It's such a fantastic video,i am so happy I have seen this, these guys are so talented
,
Their music is timeless and will always have good memories for me.x X
They sound real good!!!
The best set of Blue Notes since the ORIGINALS..
No. Bullshit.
These guys did a great job! Every singer has a great voice and a lot of Soul! I finally got a chance to see Harold Melvin perform the "rap" part on "I Miss You"! I am overjoyed!
He is good sounds somewhat like Teddy P i Salute yu brother no one cud come close to Mr.P Rest Easy to both of yu❤❤
Thank you so much for this beautiful concert of one of my most favorite groups. Mr. Saunders did an incredible job of recreating the sound and as he brought his own unique flavor. Not an easy thing to do while constantly being compared with someone else. Everyone has their own unique voice so he could not be Teddy no more than Teddy could be him. The whole group did exceptionally well in my humble opinion. It was nice that everyone was able to get a little shine. I hope you have more gems like this to post. Thanks again.
Thank you for a wonderful evening ❤
Of course there will be another Teddy P., but this guy has got it!!
It's such super group and dancing
This Guy got it. Teddy would be proud. They sound sooo nice and professional....keep it up...love u guys....
Looks & Sounds Awesome Los!!!!!!!
I am born and raised in Philly ❤❤❤ love them
RIP my sweet humble Gil
What an incredible concert! Thanks for sharing this video
Miss you Gil😇
They all was so good as always ❤🎉😅😊 😂Love you All
Harold Melvin put together an ensemble of talented voices. I'm impressed with their vocals & choreography. Close to the Original Blue Notes🎼
He sounds excellent!! Thks for sharing
Beautiful soundin,harmony rich❤❤❤😮
RIP Billy Spratley from Petersburg, Va right up the highway from my hometown of Waverly, Va.
You were close, his name was William (Bill) Spratley ❤
Yes RIP Billy Spratley, Spratley family from philly waddup Cuzz
Lord have mercy. Now these were Harold Melvin's Blue Notes. I've gotten more than my money's worth. Thank you again Mr. or Ms. TH-cam Deejay for sending me this one on Martin Luther King's Birthday. The Wake up Everybody is too apropo. It should be every Believers theme song for 2024. I know Insane Ywain would have played this ENTIRE!! performance on his show......Miss you man.
I SAW THE ORIGINAL LINE - UP OF HAROLD & THE BLUE - NOTES IN 2003 AT VICTORY PARK IN SAN JOSE CA . ALONG WITH THE CHI-LITES , DEL - FONICS , STYLISTICS, IT WAS THE 70’S THAT DAY ALRIGHT !!!
Awesome this Philly girl thanks you for this!!!!
They sound good
These boys threw down, now it goes without saying, no one can do it like Teddy, but this guy is holding his own. What I didn't like was the lighting, why was the background so dark, would have like to see the fellas back there. But overall a helluva show👍🏾
MELENINATED - IN SOUL... !
You are so sosososo incredible
These guys are very good.
No one can sing that song like Teddy Penagrass
You Got That Right
Never!!
Pendergrass
You got that Right !!!
Hard2Disagree! &, Idon't...
Just found this video. Wonder if the group got paid equally, the sane as Harold? Nice performance!
the lead singer is David Simmons , he used to sing with " Neo Experience " they did recorded two 45's in 1975-1976 , and he did 3 albums from 1979-2015 , he isn't trying to sound like Teddy Pendergrass , that's how he sounds !!! he's a fantastic singer !!!
*he channeled teddy while teddy was still alive❤*
I still listen to all of their music in which sound of Philly don't make music like this raping has taken over
He was sosososo unique
...the closest I've heard that comes close to Teddy and the background wasn't bad.
Great.
Great great Harmony!!! Great performance!
TP was a natural. Harold M and BN was one of the most underrated groups in music history. 🙏❤️
Considering how controlling and jealous Harold was, he spent his last able years trying to recapture a sound that he was guilty of dismantling.
Were you in da group
Will dah real Harold stand up
Philly is a gang banging town
He surely did not look like a Harold, like Teddy.
❤😊
The lead singer is as close as you can get to the one and only teddy. The sound the facial expressions and they built the same. The best replacement for teddy.
Like 721...NYC 👋 WOW!!!😂
Teddy Could NEVER BE TOUCHED...I FELT DAVID EBO was the BEST lead after TEDDY ..his own Style..Gil Tried rip...
Gil didn’t try….he DID
@Paoula Yes he did.! He had his own flavor
Where is the sound.everyone is saying how good he is but my video has no sound.
Nothing like Teddy Pendergrass without Teddy. The Magic is not there.😢
❤
I just never knew why they were called Harold Melvin and the bluenotes ? When Teddy was the man..🤔
Harold started the group in 1954, and owned the group. Teddy Pendergrass was the featured vocalist. He wasn't the first or the last one . . . .
Because this was Mr. Melvin's life's work
These Blue notes seems to me. are as good as or Better than the Original Blue notes🎶🔥❤️👑🎤💋❤️❤️❤️❤️💋
Where is the sound my video has no sound
Fuss is doing his thing!!
That tenner voice is damn good, these guys have super harmony, the ojays, stylistics, spinners, billy paul, the intruders,Jean Carne, three degrees, and a host of great musicians and vocal talent made up Philly sounds and the masters themselves Gamble & Huff.
Rip Harold
He is lip singing that was Teddy singing the first song
No it wasn’t Teddy singing the first song it was the guy trying to copy Teddy here. He sang on the same level all the song. He sings flat compared to Teddy.
Just don't like the fact that he is not a solo artist and they don't show the group as much as they should
This was transferred from videotape from 37 years ago. The video is not the best quality. In the original broadcast, the singers were much more visible.
Go🎉femup
He definitely sounds a little like Teddy but there's only one Theodore 🤣
…Sanders sounds more like David Ruffin than the GOAT Teddy😳✔️…Teddy, David and Otis Redding TOP 3 vocalist of all time 💯✔️👑…
He's "Seriously Involved".........
Gil threw down but don't sleep on David Ebo. If you don't know, check out I'd Rather Be By Myself.
…Teddy Pendergrass is the GREATEST pure singer of all time 💯✔️👑…
He's got that Pendergrass sound, but to many weird facial expressions on every line..!!
❤❤❤❤Not "BAD"!!!!!!!!
There was only one Harold and then there was one Teddy. After that there was nothing else. It's like trying to replace Eddie Kendricks. Or David ruffin. It's just not going to happen
He wasnt ; he didnt look dah type like Teddy P
He can sing but no way he can hang with teddy
I agree! Harold Melvin was extremely controlling and greedy person! That was one of the reason Pendergast left the group! They were never able to completely capture that Pendergrass sound! I’m not sure but this might be the lead singer who replaced Pendergrass David Ebo.
24:54 38:25
They did an awesome job on Miss You..the will never be another Mr Pendergrass,,but they came close...great performance
This guy doesn’t sound as good as Teddy !
2 1/2 per cent TP! This man is trying too hard to sound like a teddy P! He's straining!🤷🏾♀️👎🏾 There's only one Teddy Pendergrass!
-Teddy was the sound that made the Blue Notes.
-Jeffrey Osborne was the sound that made LTD.
-Michael Jackson was the sound that made The Jackson 5.
-Bobby DeBarge was the voice along with the brother who was on the group Frontline of the group Switch!
There's many more!🎙️🎶
RIP Theodore "Teddy" Pendergrass!🕊️🌹🎶🎙️🕺🏾👍🏽
No no no can’t be or even mimic Teddy Pendergrass this sounds so horrible sorry just be yourself whoever your are Mr lol 😂 no omg I know this was a flop 😏
Stop hating and just enjoy the damn music!😏
@@willthebestbest9667 😆🤣🤣🤣🤣
Parabéns pelo esforço de tentar substituir Teddy 👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷
As Gil would remark himself, “he didn’t replace Teddy, he took his position”😉 Gil was the most humble gentleman I ever knew 😇
NO TEDDY NO BLUE NOTES BOTTOM LINE...SO STOP'it...I DIG THE TRY THOUGH...
FYI, Gil Saunders was recruited by Teddy and Harold when Teddy. Gil had his own group but in the end, and with Teddy’s persuasion, Gil took the position. In 1982..at 13:48 in this video, you’ll hear Bill introduce Gil as the answer to all their prayers. Gil held the group together for over 10 years.
@@Paoula Aw'So what! He still ain't Teddy..
They’re only one Teddy Lol
I am born and raised in Philly ❤❤❤ love them
