I love everything about this concept. It’s not a delay pedal. It’s a memory pedal. We love to think we know our memories, but in reality they are just jumbled fragments that never appear completely the same way when we remember them.
Ahhh great connection you made right there, I love that. That's exactly how the brain works, mirrored beautifully in how the memory of the pedal is constantly overwriting itself and getting more degraded.
I have a complicated background with memory, and this comment did Not help. I won't rember buying it or why I hate it, but thats something I'll forget too
I just started checking out videos of the Habit yesterday, so I knew this was going to be wild. You surprised me by being able to get actual nice musical results. Most of what I've heard has been a simple idea that just turns into utter chaos. Thanks!
This reminded me of your Chase Bliss Habit video. It’s hard to describe why I love that one so much but it somehow reminds me of eating cinnamon in autumn in a parallel reality.
thank you so much, Simon!! 🥰❤️ it really is such a unique and innovative pedal, and I'm so happy I could help explain what it does!! I wanted to simplify as much as possible because it seems like an overwhelming pedal at first hahah
What a beautiful sound - the glitchy bits kept in check by the delay parameters leads to a peaceful ambience all by itself. I really really enjoyed your use of this pedal - these may be some of my favorite demos you've done that I can think of. It's just so suited for harp!
right?!? I think so, too!! I love how Habit responds to the harp 🥰❤️ thank you so much for the kind words, and thanks for being here with us as always!! :)
This is so intense but the results are beautiful and absolutely worth it! Also, the physical appearance of the pedal is gorgeous and that never hurts :) ps cool shirt
hahah thank you so much, Kyle!! "intense" is a perfect way to describe this pedal 😂❤️ I'm a huge fan of anything Studio Ghibli so when I saw this shirt I just had to buy it lmao 🥰
thank you so much!! 🥰❤️ I'm so glad you liked that vocal segment as much as I did; that sample is from my very talented friend Natalie (we have some harp and vocal duets here on the channel), and as soon as I sent her voice through Habit I was like whaaAAAAAT NO WAY 🤯🤯🤯
Can we give some appreciation for the production on this video. It's really beautiful! Not to mention how sick the sounds are. I never really got into granular stuff, but this is simple enough that I kinda get the appeal.
What you do with the pedals you demo has been such an interesting ride. There's a level of creativity and curiosity to them that I really appreciate, in addition to the videos being informative. It's fun to watch. Keep up the good work, guys.
right?!? I'm so glad you like it as much as I do!! 🥰❤️ that vocal sample is from my very talented friend Natalie, we've done some duet covers with harp and voice here on the channel. as soon as I sent Natalie's voice through Habit I was like 🤯🤯🤯
This is all so wonderful, Emily! I always enjoy the level of imagination your music brings, you have a sound and expression of your own and we're blessed to hear you play.
This pedal is amazing. I love it because it's a totally new type of delay. I want one just to run audio through it and play with its features. I bet certain songs ran through this would sound epic.
I love all the Chase Bliss pedals / devices, but now I'm torn between the Habit, and the latest MOOD MKII . . . Your presentation here, however, is very convincing, leaning toward the Habit at the moment.
This is incredible! I woke up this morning reading about CBA's newest release. And now, a demo (didn't think anyone had their hands on it yet) before I sleep.
I love the idea of this, could be the second pedal you've caused me to buy in as many months after the Avalanche Run! That piece you played at the beginning was beautiful.
thank you so much, Alan!! that sample is from my good friend Natalie, we've done a few duet covers on the channel together! ( this is probably my favorite: th-cam.com/video/958HQY0pEQ8/w-d-xo.html )
Wow! I'm so happy to see you at Your instrument. One of my first Piano teachers as a child was a Harpist. She made such an impression on me. You are Expanding what an ancient Instrument can be in the 21 st Century. Bravo. I get it now.
This is beyond cool Emily!!! Awesome demo, you're one of the most creative people I've heard make music and it's awesome to hear that come through in your demos! Plus applying that creativity to a CBA pedal is bound to be awesome! I'm a guitar player, so hearing pedals through something as radically different as the harp inspires me to make music
I like that this pedal kind of enables a real-time version of the way I like to freely draw modulation and weird track interactions into my DAW, without concerns about playability. This is a complex pedal, but really impressive. Great music as always 🤘
Came here looking for videos on the Habit, ended up falling in love with your music. ❤️ ... if ONLY I had discovered you before my wedding (and you lived closer to Hawaii), you would have been exactly what my wife and I were looking for.
Thanks so much!! I'm glad you found the channel! I'm so glad my music resonates with you ❤️ Hahaha playing a wedding in Hawaii would be AMAZING!!! Too bad I can't really fly my harp anywhere though :( Welcome to the channel!
@@emilyharpist you really did. If I get one I’ll use your affiliate link :). I think I’ll likely pass. For unexplainable musical deligtfulness I really like my Microcosm, and I love my Mood 🤙🙂
It’s SO good! It hasn’t left my sight since I made a demo of it! Hahaha. I’m finishing my board now and it’s definitely on there!!! Also I saw that you tested Habit for bugs - that is so amazing!!! Sounds like it would be difficult, especially considering how nuts this pedal in the first place!!!
@@emilyharpist LOL yes, although I didn't find any bugs really, and if I had, I think I would have just thought they were cool, so I feel like I'm not a good person to be given this job. But I was happy to take it.
The effects you can get out of this pedal are so cool! Some of them were so relaxing that I almost fell asleep while listening. (Probably also helped that I was in bed watching the video lol)
hahah thank you so much, Alex!! 🥰❤️ I felt the same way hahah this pedal responds so well to the harp and it's almost like meditating for me when I listen back
I absolutely love your harp playing... it takes me for a ride in a meditation kind of way. It's wonderful... I hope you are doing well. You seem to be quite happy 😊
I can't believe I've only just subscribed - everything I've watched of yours is rad. Out of all the Habit videos I've watched, yours really helps me get a better sense of all the cool things packed in (although I still would need a few years to figure out this pedal!) Awesome playing as always!
thank you SO much for the kind words, Eddie, and thanks for being here with us now!! 🥰❤️ I'm really glad this helped you get a better sense of Habit -- it can be a little overwhelming at first, but once you spend some time exploring all the functions and sounds, it really does all start making sense! 😂🎶
This is much more than the "yet another glitch delay" I though it was on announcement. Not sure about the visuals, but its fun, and maybe pedal world needs more of that (even I can only take so much raw steel/brushed aluminum. I thought the contexts you used it in demonstrated it's versatility and adaptability; kind of reminds me of blooper and MOOD, but completely different. This thing is so wildly interesting. Great review and demo!
Thanks so much!! It totally is so wild :)
Found you while researching “horror” pedals, you truly are the pedal PLUG
This is a unique pedal and you did a good job of making it seem less confusing.
thank you so much, Simon!! 🥰❤️ it really is such a unique and innovative pedal, and I'm so happy I could help explain what it does!! I wanted to simplify as much as possible because it seems like an overwhelming pedal at first hahah
This is why I love granular effects. It takes something relatively simple and turns it into blissful sparkly sonic textures

Constantly upping the production of the vids. The opening song reminds me of early 2000's glitch. Great work
