She's a really powerful gymnast and has a lot of potential. I think people have been critical in part because artistry and clean form aren't really strengths for her so far, and those are things that judges have gotten increasingly particular about. But she's young, and this was a really good routine for her! Also, with how easy the last two passes were for her, I'm thinking she will upgrade her tumbling even more
@@honeyfromthebee Her dance really killed her execution last year. It was frustrating that she did more than required dance elements. This year she shows improvements. At least her new coaches decide to make her count the least amount of dance elements, and make her do more acrobatics (e.g. the front full in the third pass). Her tumbling difficulty is the same as Jade. If she upgrades her vault to 5.6 / 5.4 difficulty, she has a great prospect to join the Paris team.
Agreed that too many people have been writing her off! Sure, she's got work to do, but she's training with the Landi's now and she's still incredibly young. Paris is a real possibility for her, but if she can stay healthy and keep improving she's a serious threat for 2028.
My goodness that double twisting double layout is HUGE! Incredible height! I just wish she would set into it the same way she sets into her full twisting double layout. Driving that left shoulder down more aggressively and getting her hips up quicker so she rotates the first layout faster. Almost like a sideways whip.
WOW!!! incredible!! such great performance quality as well! so impressive to see from such a young senior athlete. and her teammates were cheering like college teammates! so awesome
Hopefully NBC finally starts to give her some attention, she's super brave to throw all those skills. If she continues to clean up she can very well be a contender on Vault, Beam and Floor.
I got a 7.9 deductions and I was being strict. This routine is very well constructed and there’s acc not that much coreo deductions and of course she has crazy difficulty and her landings are pristine!! What a shocker! So proud of her!
Somebody give the girl a medal, even just for working her Wolf turns into her choreography like that. It’s the first time I wasn’t hundred percent, certain that a gymnast was about to do a wolf turn so she gets all of the kudos…

Yup. Because so much focus on high level skills. But what our USA gymnasts need is movement class . All have very stiff robotic movements. They need to learn to be comfortable moving their bodies. The choreography now is just isolated movements stuck here and there. Look at gymnasts from the past like Maria Filatova and other Russians from 1970s-1980s. The entire routine seemed to tell a story.
So this is the new "amazing tumbling but terrible choreo" gymnast from USA for this gen? The type that reaches +6.0 on difficulty but is hammered by judges on execution? Nice. Carey did an amazing inspiring work for our younger girls.

Audience engagement is also a factor to avoid stricter deduction on artistry. Yes, artistry deductions are applied but she can connect the audiences with her routine.

It is a terrible disservice to Carey to compare this girl to her lmfao. Carey had great technique on her tumbling, Roberson not so much.
