  • This shows how to replace a bulb in a Viewsonic PA503S projector, though the procedure is likely very similar to many other "in family" viewsonic projectors.
    The bulb cost $35 on amazon, just over 10% of the cost of replacing the whole thing, and it's super easy to do - all you need is a philips screwdriver, and the replacement bulb: style RLC-108:

    Edited with Lightworks 2020.1 pro.
    Audio cleaned up inside Audacity.

    Thank you, worked great for a PG706HD. In this case there are two screws, one either side which you loosen. All the rest the same as your video. Very helpful.

    Just saved me hundreds of dollars. Thanks! I thought I had to unscrew the bottom too. Turns out I only had to unscrew the top. I have the px700hd and this tutorial would work the same as it has the same film and screws at the top as yours

    Mine blew up but it did not wreck the projector. Most the glass stayed in the bulb cage so very little got in the surrounding area. For some reason the hour meter would not reset.

      Maybe? I'm not sure though....I've never opened up that model number. If it does work, please report back so future viewers can find your answer!

    The assembly won’t come out on mine. I’ve disconnected the lamp connector and u screwed that to screw. When I pull on the clip it won’t come out at all. Can’t seem to figure out what it’s stuck on

      Could be a slight interference with the the alignment pin, and just needs to be jiggled?

    Hi friend. I have a problem with the same PA503W version, it turns on very weak and turns off by itself, then it turns on a red warning light indicating lamp. Should I replace it or is the problem different? help

      Did the previous bulb blow? If so there might be debris in the turbo fan which cools the bulb, slowing it slightly.

    How can I reduce heat.My projector is in a box for reducing noise.

    • @craiglivingstone4928
      @craiglivingstone4928 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't put your projector in a box. The overheating is due to you cutting out airflow and that will drastically reduce its lifespan and likely even result in total failure or worse...fire.

    After replacing the Bulb ...My View sonic projector shutdowns after 5minutes. I tried three different bulbs, fans seems to be running fine too, but no luck. Is there something else i need to replace?

    • @lightningfrog27
      @lightningfrog27  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without knowing any better, i'd guess it's a thermal protection circuit that it shutting down the projector....but since you mentioned the fan is working fine, i imagine there's some sort of problem with the internal temperature measurement/monitoring system....not sure if that's user replaceable. sorry!

      px700hd also doing same.. a few mins and shutdown... fan is working, lamp is working ,bright ,no sign of damage but shuts down in a few mins then red lamp light comes on along with thermal warning light.

      @@lightningfrog27 thanks for reply :) mine has faded in top and bottom left corners. I have using it only 2 months and not used too freqeuntly. Some of the people in the forums say that in this price range uniformity problem is normal but I can't satisfy this answers anyway .Especially when I project fully white image I notice more easily but in movies it is hard to notice.

    • @lightningfrog27
      @lightningfrog27  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My suspicion is that opposite corner (or side) loss of brightness is related to a loss of symmetry of the reflector behind the bulb...you'd think that the designers would work hard to ensure dimensional stability across typical operating temperatures...so maybe a problem caused during assembly?
      Either way, I guess I lucked out. Thanks for watching the vid...hope it was helpful!
