Do you have any more details on adding the thermostat to the AC? I have a Discover as well so really cool to see how you've modified it so extensively!
If you're part of the Facebook group (Intech RV Flyer Owners) you can search for "thermostat" and there's a guide someone uploaded! That's what we used
What an inspiring video! You guys have done an amazing job building an already great trailer out. I need this trailer for track days and adventure. The questions/concerns I had about going this small were completely addressed by your creative and clever solutions. Kudos!
Hey guys, love your build. My wife and I have been implementing some of the ideas you had, and we're wondering how you mounted the toilet drawer slide setup to the floor so it doesn't tip when extended.
We used 3/8"×3" lag screws going up from the bottom of the trailer into the 2x4s with the slides attached. It took a bit of measuring to ensure we were drilling in the correct spots, but it ended up working out.
@@TheAndersenAdventures awesome, thanks! And what exactly is that little thing you hit with your foot to pull it out? Did you just attach a strip of wood between the locking handles on the two drawer slides?
@CJ Savage That's exactly what we did, it was a PITA to operate both latches at the same time so we used a scrap piece of 1x1 oak and screwed it to the levers.
Thanks! Yeah I put it all down there and showed it to my wife and she immediately said "we need to figure out how the Andersens open it with a foot, I can't do that in the dark" 😂
Tool box is a great idea. We just purchased the OVR Expedition and get it in 10 days🎉. What tires are you guys using in the trailer. Oh I forgot. I love what you guys have done.
We're still on the stock tires, which seem fine for the time being. We will be changing out to a name brand off road tire like the Toyo Open Country AT3 when these wear out.
The AT3 in the stock size 235/75-R15 is not e rated. We'll probably step up to 16" wheels and go with the LT245/75-R16 which is E rated. 15's are not as easy to come by in E rating at tire shops. Typically, it's a special order. The Falken Wildpeak A/T3w LT235/75-r15 is another option and is E rated.
We mounted them using 3/4" #12 screws up into the cabinets above. They've held up well for over 10k miles of rough travel, some even have motorcycle helmets hanging from the handles.
I’m not sure I can justify the price of this vs. what you get from the nobo 19.1. Were you faced with the same and how did you justify it to yourselves?
We actually went to a dealer to look at a Nobo 19.1 after selling our inTech Flyer Explore. Truthfully, we thought that was the route we would go. That was until we saw the Nobo in person.... The build quality just didn't seem near as good as the inTech Flyer Explore we had. The Discover wasn't 100% ideal as far as features were concerned, but we knew that we wouldn't have to spend time replacing what was there from the factory. The inTech doesn't have much, but what is there will last, and has lasted through even the harshest environments we've traveled in over the last 18 months. We've towed through rough Jeep trails, 2 feet of snow, and severe off-camber situations. Never once has there been an issue with the chassis itself. Do yourself a favor and check them out in person. Simply opening the doors, hatches, and cupboards will answer your questions on why we picked the inTech over the Nobo, or other comparable priced toy haulers.
@@TheAndersenAdventures thank you. The nobo was my first choice when money became available until I came across this toy hauler. Price to performance to features all has to add up for sure. Thanks for your insights.
This really depends on where we park. If we're off-grid, we typically only stay in undeveloped dispersal sites. In a legitimate park, it is considered an RV, though.
I do subcontracting for highway projects(TXDOT mostly) and was researching this trailer… definitely need to pick your brain on a few mods you have done. Could you do a vid on mod projects (sourcing and ballpark prices)
Yes, ask any questions and we will do our best to answer them. My goal is to do more thorough walk through of some of the modifications since I didn't record the actual installing of most of them. Some that I'll be doing in the near future would include the water system and shower set up.
We do if the weather permits. It does help declutter and makes it feel bigger for sure when they're open. We live in South Texas and the AC just can't keep up when it's over 90 degrees out so we have adapted to keeping them shut.
@@MotoM1234 Can't really do that with full time jobs at the moment. This is just a temporary solution until we are debt free and able to travel! It's been a work in progress for a while.
@@TheAndersenAdventures hi! Great setup, Can you elaborate about how the tip out does w heat/cold? Keep it up on hot days to tip out at night? How does it handle colder nights? I read the heater is super loud.
We leave the tip outs closed mostly for temperature regulation! In the sun on 100 degree days I can tell you the stock AC is just NOT enough for the Discover. We had an Explore prior to this and it would freeze hs out WITH the tents open! To be completely honest as well, the heat strip sucks! We use either a small electric heater or a little Buddy propane heater on very cold days. It's very easy to heat! Yes, the AC is very loud in these units. We have gotten quite used to it though.
Hi, I'm amazed with what you've accomplished. I am also considering an Intech Flyer Discover. Could you possibly tell me what this weighs when stocked up ready to go? Does that weight include water? Thank you very much.
Thank you! We haven’t had the chance to weigh it loaded up, but we figure somewhere around 3500-4000 depending how much additional cargo we have with us. We store a lot of the bulkier items in the bed of the truck as well.
Can't have too many! I think it's only 12 actually. We just combined our crappy "camping" set and our nice set. The crappy ones get to have all the crappy jobs!
We live in this full time. I bet you have more "JUNK" in your home. We had an Explore that we only camped in and didn't add anything to the trailer as it wasn't necessary for camping. Since we enjoy cooking meals from scratch and living normal lives in a smaller space we have created solutions within the trailer to accommodate our needs. Please feel free to post a tour of your trailer that you only camp in.
@@TheAndersenAdventures there are far better platforms you could’ve purchased that would have better space for that stuff. Even intech makes some models. And anyone else who lives in their RVs full-time usually doesn’t bring the entire kitchen from their house. How many pots, pans and glass lids does 2 people need in that that tiny space? @@Captndarty Feel free to be "irked" by what you deem as clutter, but that just seems so silly to be upset over how someone else uses their trailer that they purchased with their own money. Truly amazing how much you have put into that trailer…. Very cool….
Genius, just freaking Genius. I love the way you made great use of your space, the ammo cans are a nice touch. I wish you much success on your journey
