Last part of this scene. After meeting two epic teams on remaining of PPDC, we meet the A Team for Australian Team. Herc, the second-in-command Marshall, who is also a Jaeger pilot with his cocky perfectionist hotshot son, Chuck. Both are last named Hansens. Raleigh after being out of retirement for such a long time, meets an old friend from the Mark-1 Glory Days as they also fought out in a 3-Jaeger Strike Team. Had a history together.
Herc and Chuck own their Australian-built Jaeger which has the most upgraded and best technology so far, running on a digital core rather than a nuclear core which puts on risks on affecting the pilots with neurological side effects. Armed with Anti-Kaiju missiles that numbered up to six and is stored in six barrels, one each. As we see the mechanics and engineers install an Anti-Kaiju missile into one of the barrels.
Herc and Raleigh then acquaintances each other. Herc sympathizes with Raleigh with the lost of his older brother, Yancy. Stacker informs that Striker Eureka is the very first and the last one to be built at the class of a Mark-5 classed Jaeger. A Jaeger which is the fastest one yet despite it's heavy mass just like other Jaegers. Although, it's designed and built in such a way that allows the Jaeger to lighten up the mass.
Just enough to grant the Jaeger with more agility and speed. Which also allows the Jaeger to kill a Kaiju faster than any other Jaegers. Since it proved to accomplish a 10-Kaiju Kill Count. Raleigh still has no clue to as what he's doing here in the last Shatterdome on Earth. Stacker then reminded him of their plan to end this war. Preparing to attach a 2400-pound thermo-nuclear warhead onto Striker's back.
Using up the space between Striker's T-16 Angel Wings that acts as stabilizers to maintain aerodynamic balance during the turbulence of burst combat. Stacker then informs him that they've prepared a Jaeger for him to own for this mission. As they'll also be trialing candidates for him to pilot with. Even though Raleigh is completely aware that it's his own Jaeger but is still not believing that he's gonna get back into that Jaeger as he belief it's already crippled severely during the Anchorage 2020 incident. Raleigh thought that Stacker said that they became a Resistance and yet was able to own a bomb that large. Simple reasoning with the capability of the Russians being capable of getting anything anyhow. Stacker and Herc then leaves Raleigh to Mako as she leads him to his Jaeger.
Raleigh asks Mako to await as he needs a small talk with the two Marshalls before they leave him. Raleigh reminded Stacker that they've tried hundreds of times to drop anything into The Breach. Which is why he believes that dropping a nuclear large bomb into the Breach won't work. Because the Breach will only let anything through if they are beings or objects with the Kaiju's genetic code. That's why Kaijus are the only ones who are able to emerge through it to destroy us all.
Stacker with certainty, tells Raleigh that they're still in the process of finalizing the plan for this mission. All he needs is for Raleigh to be ready for this. We then hear Chuck calling out his bulldog, Max. Petting him and witnessing a washed-up pilot who is Raleigh, sees him as something that who resemble a weakling. Raleigh then walks off to Mako to see his Jaeger. The End.
Alright! Next scene is definitely what you see at the end of this video. And I don't think I need to tell you to be sure. Other than that, I hope you enjoy this scene of the movie. Chuck being in his Jaeger armour when everyone else in in their own casual clothes/ uniform says a lot about his character.
1) That he is ready to go if needed
2) He has a big ego and wants to show off that he’s a pilot of Striker.
3) He is passionate about his duty. Remember how he got so pissed at Rayleigh and Mako for screwing up their neural handshake, and the interview where he pinned the Jaeger program's failings to poor pilots? He wants to take the fight to the Kaijus but is frustrated but how a seemingly brilliant idea keeps getting shafted by incompetent 'comrades'.
Love how Herc and Raleigh met before and the respect Herc has for him

This movie will never get old. And it needs more recognition. It's just. Perfect.

YES, This is as perfect as a monster movie can get to meet the trope. All movies are STORY/SPECTACLE combo. The story for this was simple, but it was executed perfectly,. The spectacle was a masterful work and the great direction helped the special effects shine through. The soundtrack is sort of an analogy for the story. It is simple and reuses the same melody/chords. Yet it delivers in its execution. Great work all around. The movie didn't try to be more than what it was. GIANT ROBOTS VS MONSTERS

I love this movie but this scene alone highlights my biggest problems with it.
1. "What's changed?"
"I have a plan, I need you ready." Which apparantly translates to, "Yeah I'm just going to attack the rift again, no change lol."
2. You assign your fastest units on interceptor duty. Have the big heavy nuke carried by your slowest and biggest Jaegar so it's not really impacted by the package.
I feel like this guy is the reason the Jaeger program got pulled.
So for 2 he did the opposite.

I had to examine this movies math for nuclear weapons. Surprisingly, it checks out. The US developed a bomb (the W-5) early in the Cold War that had a maximum yield of 120 kilotons of TNT. It was almost the same weight as the weapon mentioned in this clip. 2,405 pounds vs 2,400 pounds
Wish their knowledge of the brain's hemispheres and which side of the body they controlled checked out 😖 i cringe when they start calibrating hemisoheres, knowing that the right hemisphere controls the left side of the body and vice versa 😞

@@millsenberry It is still doesn't check out. They went for a two pilot system due to the high neural load. This means that two brain hemispheres aren't enough. What is the point of still using the equivalent of two brain hemispheres just split to two people. You would have to assign half of the robot controls to one brain/pilot (not one hemisphere) and the other half of the controls to the other brain/pilot. Probably not one sat down to think twice about the logic of this whole two pilot system thing.
American nukes are notoriously tiny though. Differing warplans from the cold war. American plans were fight conventional until nukes get slung and thwn use precision strikes with small strategic and tactical nukes. Russian plans were nuke first with large strategic nukes and drive through the fallout in armored spearheads. America lost its taste for large nukes after the shitshow that was starfish prime knocking out comms on the whole southern hemisphere and then almost blowing up a whole damn island because someone forgot to carry a couple zeroes for the castle bravo test shot.
Ah, I see the Marshal went to the Last Jedi school of thinking, keep your subordinates ignorant of the plan so they question everything they do.
Still loads better than "Shut up and do as I say!" . What the Marshall said, was exactly what Holdo should have done. Reassure and inspire her subbordinates even if you can't tell them about the plan. The important thing is people know you're working on it and have things under control.
You know, context is important.
There's a diffrence between purposely keeping your subordinates unaware and hopeless whilst actively getting shot at (Holdo) and keeping sensitive information because discussing it at the current time and place isnt appropiate (Pentecost).
Raleigh doesnt need to know what the specifics of plan is at that point of time.
Holdo on the other hand should have given her crew something besides distrust and anxiety. There's a huge difference between these two scenarios
I think it's also worth remembering that Marshall is actively lying here. He has no plan. The wall doesn't work, kaiju attacks are getting worse and more frequent and the jaegers are running out of fuel and funding. He's trying to disguise the fact that this is really just one last impossible hail mary before humanity's inevitable extinction. It only ever worked because Newt drifted with a kaiju and worked out how to bypass the breach.
Is this really what it would take to make every country work with each other

Imagine how badass it would’ve been if all the plan went how it was supposed to go, with all the jeagers, and I know that plan would’ve failed but still
If you really think about it, *Typhoon* and *Cherno* are kinda useless under water cuz *Typhoon's* attack's normally need *spin* and it would be slowed down a lot under water, and his other *long range attack* is also slowed down by the water cuz it's *plasma pulse* will *also* be slowed down by the water, meanwhile *Cherno* , it would be to slow to move at a decent speed for it to be effective as defence, and also it's fist depend on the *springs or how fast it's going* to land an effective impact, under water, it's really slowed down, and finally it's *cannons* on its shoulders blast *fire* , fire won't work underwater. So basically, they would've been *useless* down at the breach if they did survive, I just had to come to the truth though, they wouldn't have made for long under water, and one *last* reason is because the kaiju move super quick under water, their slow speeds would be very late to see it coming and it would be even more time until they got a good counter attack.
Well, yes, but actually, no.
With mechanic systems, especially hydraulic ones (I'm assuming these are the ones used to make Jaegers move around), it's very easy to reach a point where water resistance doesn't mean crap. With enough couple on your pistons, the movement speed is the se whether you are on land or underwater.
However, you are right in saying that being underwater affects their performance. Sure, the Jaegers can move their limbs just as fast as if they were on land, but the problem is not moving their body. It's moving their body compared to the ground.
So it's not their agility that is affected, but their mobility. This can be seen in the final attack, where Gipsy tries to reach Stryker, but is forced to walk, instead of run, as she would just faceplant if she tried to run underwater.
Imagine Crimson stretching out his 3 hands and turn on the spinning blade. It would propel itself underwater but backwards xD
That's why they have the "miracle mile." They don't want to fight the kaiju in the water, but they have to, so they stay within a mile of the shore where only the legs are submerged.
Not exactly, imo. You remember how quickly Striker and Gypsy moved underwater. Compare that to when they were on the surface. Typhoon and Cherno would definitely be at a disadvantage but they wouldn't be useless.

@Lachlan Chan The US and Russia both have the capability to develop an even stronger nuclear weapon than the Tsar Bomba. It actually isn't that difficult to do, all it is the addition of more elements. But through treaties between the US and Russia, many nuclear weapons have been discarded and reduced in power.
