Because google would face the hand of god in federal and class action lawsuits. Actively concealing the identity of a person commiting crimes is a huge no no
He’s not necessarily stupid to get caught, he’s actually just unlucky that Bungie is a company that’s willing to do something about this. Think about the amount of people who do this on the regular and get away with it because there is not a legal department pressuring the investigation of the issue. Real unlucky combo: he’s both a scumbag *and* happened to go after the wrong company.
His information came up in a cheat site database Bungie was allowed to see as part of the Lawsuit they won, so Nick was likely a cheater in game as well. I predict Bungie won't collect the full 7.6 million from Mr. Minor, but the court could probably go after his wages all they want.

I remembered when Aztecross got his copyright strike and was afraid that his channel was going to be striked and deleted. I was genuienly scared for the guy I loved his videos and he was the one of the D2 Ytbers i watch along with sweat. He's one of the D2 Ytbers that dosent always see destiny 2 as a negative game. Im glad the bungie is doing this.
I love aztecross because even though the game gets bad he always has a positive mindset and gives real feedback to issues plaguing the game. It would have been a sad day if his channel got deleted

The scariest part about this is the fact that *One Dude* managed to do all of this using a fake gmail account. This has high-key highlighted a massive vulnerability in the TH-cam Copyright System if you can just pretend to be someone using the same trick I used to use to make sick notes for school.

Like that alone is a big dick move on their part, but the fact that Bungie (even if it was mainly because they lost money too) stood up and defended their community and content creators from losing their channels.

Bungie is a big bucks, powerful, intimidating and incredibly successful company but with stuff like this it feels like a local small town business sticking up for and supporting its customers. Even going to the point of defending their livelihood. Ive never heard of a company like Bungie in terms of their community efforts… truly a one of a kind experience.
Bungie is one of the few companies that actually care about their community/customers and in 2022 that is very rare.

The fact that bungie had to pull teeth just to get a name of the person who did the crime is disturbingly bad. Why was he being hidden he abused the system and almost ruined peoples carriers yet bungie had to go through hoops just to get his name for accountability.

Sorry to everyone that was affected by this copyright nonsense, but Bungie's not going to get anything from this dude, no regular person has that kind of money. The guy who did this won in the long term, it got attention, and in the face of it shouting that things need to change on the TH-cam end is the endgame. Cool that Bungie wants to fight TH-cam over their terrible system and this should be the real fight, but going after the guy for monetary fees is dumb even if in their legal right, because they'll get nothing.
He won't have the money, but he can declare bankruptcy or take out a massive loan. This will financially ruin him and possibly fuck up his career, and in the long term it might still accomplish his goals but he won't be in a position to appreciate or benefit from that.
Then clearly you have no idea how lawsuits and compensation works.
TH-cam should be made to take some legal responsibility for having a copyright enforcement platform that is so easily abused by a random kid to the point that said kid is able to cause millions in damages to a big company and real damages to the earnings and channels of countless small streamers on the TH-cam platform.
Look I hate lord nazo now as much as any guy who just heard this news, but I gotta be honest with this. 7.65 million dollars... all on one singular guy. I've done some calculations, assuming he's in his 20's, and assuming he has a very high salary of say 70 grand a year. If he put every singular penny toward this lawsuit, he wouldn't even make half of the 7 million required to pay it off. I don't like the man, but I just kinda feel some prison time is in order rather than putting a man in debt for that much money. If it was me who had to pay that much? I wouldn't be able to live, literally, not a scrap of food or housing I would afford. So either the government now has to pay out, maybe google has to pay out, but putting it on one person because he was angry with the system? That's worse than the death penalty.

@@prith_861 honestly, alot. This was the worst abuse of DMCA I've ever seen. The fact that this person did nearly 100 fraudulent reports on content creators and Bungie themselves was very shocking. I know the DMCA is really bad and needs a massive rework, but this person went way too far. Being pissed off on a copyright issue is one thing but impersonating someone from a third party is not only stupid but If im correct (not a law expert so just an assumption) this was with purposeful intent to harm others and I think there may be a law this person broke doing this( again no expert so I could be wrong).

If I got this correct, he did all of this because he wasn't allowed to post Bungie's music in his YT as his own? And then he proceeded to act like TH-cam doesn't care about channels like him with low subscriber count. After getting found out, he then started acting like he's just showing people how easy it is to abuse TH-cam's copyright claim. That sounds like a petty way to justify what he did to himself.
