    This is one of the best videos I’ve seen for replacing and fitting floor pans with body on

    Seems most of the bugs I find these days come with those rusty drain holes. I needed to learn how to patch them. Thank you. VW life forever.

    Taking the body off is a big job. I skipped it mine needed same job i cut rear floorboards out as one peice on each side. I had some ranchero bed plate . Used cutouts for template cut and welded bedplate in. It was fun

    Hey quick question: The air tool you used to punch the holes in to the panel.. what is it called?

    For a non welder like myself, how do you think it would work if I used the zip screws and body seam filler?

      I was wondering the same myself, did you ever find an answer for this?

      @@Romanlegion1990 I never have, but I think my next thing is going to be some basic welding.

      Seam sealer is just it seals the seams and doesn’t do anything for bonding. You could look at panel bond using the screws to hold the panels together while the panel bond cures. I’ve never used it for floors but a lot of modern cars use it and it’s used in place of welding in some cases. I would do some research on it for floors and if it will work go with that.

    I really enjoyed the video, you guys are hilarious.. but... why did you not just get the full pan on each side? Would have saved you work and time.

      Thanks for watching! We used half pans because that's what the customer purchased...

      Those are actually considered 1/4 pans. I’ve never done them. Personally I think it’s easier and gives a better result to just replace the whole half pan and not stitch in a 1/4. But you’re stuck with what the customer wanted.

    • @TheOriginalLugnuts
      @TheOriginalLugnuts 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swhitcomb03 I personally prefer to only replace the rusty metal leaving as much of the factory metal as possible when I’ve done rust repair. That said the replacement pans these guys used didn’t fit real well with the originals so replacing the full sides probably would be better.
