  • Watch Mark Russell working with Sedona and his new owner at his last clinic before his unfortunate accident a week later. Mark had rehabilitated Sedona, who a few years earlier, had come to him with an anxious and tense mind set. As expected, Sedona also arrived into Mark’s care displaying all of the expected associated physical symptoms and postures. Mark redeveloped Sedona with an emphasis on relaxation first per his usual approach, and when Sedona was ready he moved on to his new owner and new life. The following excerpts are from Mark’s last 2016 clinic which was held in Cedar Creek Texas. Virginia, Sedona’s new owner, brought him to Mark's clinic for ongoing fine tuning and support in their new relationship. In these excerpts from the clinic Mark again shares more of his wealth of knowledge and wisdom including but not limited to posture, balance, engagement, hock flexion, rein - back.
Mark’s work can be found on XenophonPress.com: xenophonpress..... His work includes Lessons in Lightness: The Art of Educating the Horse (book) in both a Black and White and a Full Color version, both including contributions from Jillian Kreinbring MS, Lessons in Lightness: Building the Horse's Foundation in Hand with Abigail Nemec (DVD), Lessons in Lightness: Releasing the Jaw, Poll, and Neck (DVD). Find Mark on Facebook: Mark Russell Natural Dressage. Mark’s widow, Hela Russell continues to maintain the page in his memory.
Q: “I can make minute adjustments to the horse’s position while working in hand. It is an ideal platform for achieving delicacy in the aids and increasing the subtlety of movement - the horse learns to play with the possibilities of his own balance.

Brought back so many memories. I was doing some hand walking with Sedona and played this while I was walking. Guess who’s nose came right to the phone❤

Mark was an absolute master at this. One of the most perceptive horsemen I've ever seen. 👍🏻👍🏻
