many times I've had repaired cells in new ze1 leafs with leakage from the corners, the cells have really bad hermetization and in 99.9% cases they are quickly repaired by proper sealant. So I insist on disassembling the pack and see what is going on with P0AA6. Anyway everything is going on for the greater good!))

      What is P0AA6?
      I had no idea.
      Searches….. hope this helps someone
‘DTC P0AA6 stands for “Hybrid Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault”
This code is logged when the PCM detects an isolation fault in the high-voltage system.
Possible causes include issues with the high-voltage battery and/or cables, as well as problems with the battery control module.
Common symptoms include lit warning lights, a battery that doesn’t charge, and vehicle startup issues.’

Just reading this comment… i am thinking to buy this car with what appears to be a dropped cell (44)
Im paying someone a days rate to fix it. Should i have a spare cell ready or ask them to charge it seperate as long as its not damaged..

Don't give up. The battery can be fixed. Rustproofing battery and car is a great idea. I had my 2012.09 Leaf fully coated with Mercasol when it was new. After over 60000km in just over 1,5 years the underside still looked new. (South-West coast of Norway..) Now there is a lot of Gen 1 Leafs that are being crushed here as they have been used up. Batteries with 3-5 bars, no brakes, fully worn out suspensions, etc.. Soon the Gen1 Leafs will be no more.

9:02 from leafspy it shows 4 cells, if the layout in bms is kept the same then cells 1-48 is rear stacks. in 64kwh pack there are 4 towered stacks in rear. The faulty ones are in the first stack then.. the good news is that unlike the 24kwh pack - faulty ones cant push on everything when expanding. Only their tower.
So if you can source one good rear towerstackj, it can be replaced :)
Did the pack have any dents in it? Or maybe marks undenting.. as it's the first pack - it might be some collision damage that some corner hit the tower of cells.

Hope you get good luck next time. A lesson to learn for all of us when buying refurbished batteries. Your videos are a great help for us. Maybe this is why repackaging is sometimes better than to get these refurbished OEM ones. With repackaging you can get newer cell chemistries like NCM811 and you know the condition those cells are in. Plenty of space for even more than 62kWh as new cells like NCM811 has higher energy densities than OEM Nissan ones. Then it all comes down to how you mount the cells/modules securely and distribute weight like in OEM modules. There's space for liquid cooling/heating even if you use 355 modules.

Buy Fluke 1507 to check isolation before installing the battery. I think installing 40kWh back and investigating the issue is way to go. I feel your pain, because I just repaired my Focus Electric isolation issue. Maybe you have to open bursted modules and renew those dead cells. But do not worry, we EV enthusiasts need these kind of experiences to learn about working with these. It feels bad now, but will give you knowledge to the future. Good thing is, that you can put old battery back and drive, I had to keep car in garage and drive with diesel so it was little expensive to had my EV stalling for a while.

The BCG is an electronic module installed between the vehicle and the new battery to convert the computer language of the information that is communicated by the battery to make it compatible with the year and the vehicle equipment. Why don't you cycle battery few times on level 1 and balance the cells or won't balance

Don't give up try buy battery cells and rebuild the whole thing , maybe you can fit 70-80 Kwh in the same container

I'm just curious if you look into the future a few years, is it possible to replace all the cells inside the back with cells that are not from Nissan?
I'm think which second hand car to buy and if the battery is so limited that I can only ever be filled with Nissan cells that is a shame when you think about 10 years in the future then the car will be stuck in time.

Have you tried opening it and repairing?

I hope you will find an insulation issue outside of the cells themselves. Otherwise your best approach might be to sell off the good cells and you should get most or even all your money back in exchange for a lot of work - especially is the cells are rare.

    Hi Dala
What about just bypassing the bad cells altogether ?
(until you can get the replacements)
Of course the BMS wire will have to be dealt with...
I am just raising this possible workaround, in case your knoledge of the battery tells you it's worth trying.

Can you use Leaf-springs when upgradimg the battery?🤗
I vote 40kWh battery back and sell the modules. Heavier car affects performance…
