Completely agree on the Derwent Drawing pencils. I picked up a couple of them open stock recently and the soft, creamy consistency is really special. Someday, I'll have a full set of these. I really liked seeing you use these pencils in your style. Most demos of the drawing pencils online are portraits, landscapes, or still life. Yours was a refreshing use of these pencils.
Thank you so much! Im rly happy you like what I created. As I recorded this video I asked myself if it would not be better to draw a landscape with them.. but in my daily sketchbook routine I would not draw a landscape.. so I showed you how I would use them.. ❤️
So many people say, "Just be yourself," as though that is simple. There's all sorts of pressure to conform, but I'm glad you didn't. I recall the reason I subscribed to your channel is your style. I haven't come across anyone doing quite what you do. So no need to do landscapes if you don't want to, I guess?
I got these for Christmas last year. They were on sale at Blick!! I love these pencils so much! They very much remind me of a pastel type of pencil but BETTER!! Also.. just found out you are on Patreon... I am very late to that party! I so very much love all your little creatures!! This was quite an amazing piece, using all the different mediums and styles together! Great job and thanks for sharing!!
@@xoonaniart I was torn on what I should continue my drawing with.. and you made me use mine!! I love them so much especially for their muted softness!! ❤
@@xoonaniartwhat do ru rs rw rr marks on the colour pencils mean? If your pencils also came with the punched alphabet marks right below the sharpened end as mine please let me know what they are for.
I had to look at my pencils fitst.. I have no plan what this means sry. I tried to make a research but i cant find this letter explanation if I google.. perhaps we have to write an email to Derwent and ask… Perhaps sth about the pigments? I could ask them.. this comes on my list. Have less time right now.. ☺️ If you find out faster, let us know
Lovely review :) Since you were wondering in the video: you need "hot pressed" watercolor paper for colored pencils. I got the 12 set, which I got just before Christmas, haven't really taken the time to use them much, but this makes me want to!
Dear Stephanie thank you so much! ❤️ I‘m a big fan of your art and it made me rly happy you watched my video and commented it! ☺️ This was the „hot pressed“ from Boahong. But it still has stucture.. I should use different paper next time.. Oh I would love to watch you using the Derwent Drawing 😃
😊🎨 oh in that case, I personally find the one from Hahnmühle the smoothest I've tried so far, it's the "watercolor collection" one in black and orange@@xoonaniart
Ok I have to look for it. I also prefer cotton most of the time ( not for Aqua Markers..) I think its hard to find a perfect hot pressed cotton paper.. which is rly smooth.. never found one. They all have this little bit of structure. But Im also no expert for cotton papers..
I have that set and I got it for 40 euros plus art creation sketch book landscape as a present, love them both so much, they go well together. I got the set for drawing people actually, I have a video recommendation if it's okay for you (not my video)? The first time I saw this set I knew I wanted it, it only took me 2 years or so 😂 Lovely work, I loved both backgrounds, not the neocolor so much. The set is made so each and every colour look good together, it is hard to find combos that aren't cohesive. I love how the turquoise posca works with them, great thinking and also thanks for the extra tip for cutting leaves as extra, that would have been a nice frame for the ochre background
Thank you! ☺️ Yes this set is just awesome… The colors are so perfect combined.. I will use them often! I have to try out portraits with them as well.. I miss my artcreation sketchbook since it is filled up.. I need a new one. Thank you for watching and commenting! ❤️
Very nice i think that cutting it out and drawing the bush? Cloud? Was a good idea. Can you give the name/limk of the sharpener? I haven't been able to find a sharpener that works for these.
Thank you! ☺️ I don’t know exactly which one I used in this video. I have two and both are sharpeners from Faber Castell with two sharping holes. One normal one and a thicker one.
relatively random question: why does any artist invest in anything other than white acrylic gouache for highlights, regardless of the medium? it's acrylic (water resistant), flat (matte) and opaque. is it portability and ease of use that ppl use white gel pens etc? cz even acrylic pens are not opaque enough sometimes. I've never seen anything as flawless as a white acrylic gouache, even the cheap brands. it's mind boggling how many "best highlighting tool in paint" videos never mention white acrylic gouache. I've never seen a gel pen that can show up on glossy mediums. that in itself makes gel pens not a viable tool. im so confused. what am i missing?
😃 I think its because on the artists way to find the best white highlighter ( perhaps its white acrylic gouache I should test it..) the artists come across all different interesting white art supplies.. and perhaps the next one they find is better then the one before and so on.. and of course every white whatever it is has its pros and cons. And the decision which one you use depends also on the question how you want to use them.. So I use white colored pencils and crayons for other kind of whites in my artwork as I would use an Acrylic marker or Gouache.. soft highlights.. crisp and opaque light points… or whatever. But its right a good white gouache can be soft and very vibrant…… buuuut you have to pull it out of the tube first and use a brush, what sometimes can be not comfortable in this moment .. so everything has its reason why it is used. ( perhaps not white gel pens.. hate them.. but I use them here and there because they are laying around.. dont want to waste them..) but I understand your thoughts! ☺️

Just got 2 singles thinking they were basic, and i couldn't be more wrong. So smooth and thick.

Hey! I’m also using a sharpener from Faber Castel, it has two possibilities.. one normal and one which is more thick..
