    one thing to note with Kitsa, you only have to cast one other spell before the one you want to copy, Kitsa will have 3 power and you'll have priority before that second spell resolves.

      Similarly if you get a counter on Kitsa you can copy your first spell on each subsequent turn. Not sure if any deck in legacy could use that but it feels like useful information for brewers.

    For Into the Flood Maw, while I agree that its Legacy utility specifically is probably limited, I think its value goes up in formats where Oath of Druids is legal.

    Regarding Stormsplitter, I'm not trying to be pedantic, but it's never going to be "3 per cycle", as each token is a copy of the original, and will make more of itself, doubling each time. 1 spell makes 2. 2 makes 4. 3 makes 8. 4 makes 16 and 5 is almost guaranteed lethal on the spot.
    The 4 mana cost is steep, but it's the exact same as Empty the Warrens, except you have to cast it before you storm off and it's vulnerable to creature removal but who sides in creature removal against storm?

    • @jasonslade6259
      @jasonslade6259 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Worth noting for the Commander players out there... If you can storm for 8 with this guy you can kill the entire table. :)

    • @GlichCentral
      @GlichCentral 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      But how often does storm have to not spend resources to get to 4 mana? Empty is good in my experience because you can just fire a few rituals into an empty t1, but here you’d probably need to waste multiple spells to even cast stormbreaker, then either untap next turn and win or somehow still have enough resourced to win. Storm deck don’t need a 4 mana card that wins if you untap with it.

    • @amatheuslc
      @amatheuslc 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GlichCentral It's a different play pattern, and almost certainly worse than the existing decks (in Legacy or Modern), but it's not that different from Pauper's cycle storm decks playing a Drannith Stinger after 2 minutes of solitaire and then proceeding to ping the opponent 20 times over the next 5 minutes.
      The worst part isn't having 4 mana to spare mid-combo, is that it's much more vulnerable Force of Will.

    In the Warren Warleader section I am surprised you did not look at Jacked Rabbit as well. It plays at the 2C point or on t1 with a mox and a basic, sets a respectable clock, and scales well with excess mana. The 3 mana version in particular feels very comparable with the various goblins that see play in moon stompy. Still not sure I like it over initiative creatures (though at this exact moment it is much less scary when reanimated).

  • @jaceg810

    Correction about Kitsa, Otterball elite:
    Is it not possible to cast one spell, then copy the second spell.
    Something like:
    Kitsa is a 2/4
    You cast "spell"
    The stack is: "spell" with "prowess trigger" on top
    Let the prowess trigger resolve
    The stack is: "spell"
    and kitsa is a 3/5
    So now you can activate Kitsa and copy the spell (thus you only need 4 mana minimum, 1 spell + 1 spell + 2 copy)
    I might be wrong though

    Rottenmouth Viper is a pretty sweet finisher that I think was overlooked in discussion.
    View it as a type of Murktide Liege. The discount clause is not difficult to end up with an affordable 2-4 mana 6/6 that can 'evasively' end the game. Sacrificing some spare material seems a bit harder than Delve, but there's a number of R/B decks that end up with spare permanents in play. Rabblemaster tokens, Treasures off Fable, Moxen, upward ticking One Rings.
    Also you can view it as a similar role to Broadside Bombadiers. You give up material to put heavy pressure on life total/resources to stop you.
    If it is only a 3 drop for you, that's a ton of immediate value. It also does similar things like eating the One Ring like Gut Zealot.
    If we think of like Broadside, let's try throwing it with one, you got a 4 life trigger+8 damage to dome which can close out games or choke out resources to fight back.
    If you ever untap with a Reflection of Kiki Jiki, you can play this and then probably win. That's 4 triggers (1 from the original, 1 off copy, 2 off copy's attack, then a swinging 6/6).
    Then there's a chunk of times you might just play it on T3 and it becomes a 'answer or die' threat. Like a T1 or T2 Fable of the Mirror Breaker.
    It doesn't pitch to Fury, but there might be enough RB options to fit into a new RB aggro stompy shell with Grief/Reanimate/Troll. Viper doesn't work better then Archon for entomb, but it is less of a dead card if you don't have a reanimate effect.
    I doubt Bloodtithe Harvester is legacy playable, but maybe parts of the Pauper Rakdos 'sac fodder' deck is adaptable for legacy.
    I wish Eluge, the Shoreless Sea could fit into a High Tide shell. A single discount on High Tide nets two mana which makes it easier to go off. But High Tide is far more of an all-in deck. Even though a slight creature pivot can be useful against decks that are siding out all their creature removal (Sheoldred in Doomsday decks, Empty the Warrens/Elemental Eruption in Storm decks). It prob isn't good enough.
    I doubt 4 mana is fast enough that it'll be worth the color-screwing aspect it can do to 4-5C decks, but wasteland wasn't really a tool available to High Tide decks.

    I think Keen-Eyed Curator could be a nice Scavenging Ooze like card in a Green Sun's deck. A little beefier to start , colorless mana to activate and an upside if there is some card diversity in graveyards too. I also like Osteomancer Adept. 2 mana 2/2 that is relivant with deathtouch but the value it can provide late game, especially as you don't need to sac it to it's ability, seems interesting.

    You know what’s has cool activated ability? Tree of Perdition. Swaps opponent’s life with its toughness. You know what doesn’t have toughness _or_ summoning sickness? Food tokens!
    This is totally would be more of a pioneer thing if brewmaster was legal there, but I couldn’t help but make the connection.
    Also if this interaction doesn’t work, pretend you never read this.

    I think Cruelclaw's colors are its biggest issue to overcome for it to see Legacy play. Red doesn't really have top-of-library tutors and black's are banned. I think if it sees play, it will be in a shell that makes use of the discard somehow. A shell with Kroxa comes to mind, but the question becomes why not just play reanimator instead.
    Honestly, I'm keeping my eye on Valley Floodcaller. It already creates a 'have interaction or lose' on T3 situation in standard and can be played around board wipes. And it's the sort of card that screams 'just waiting on the B' to me. It may not be there yet, but I'm sure something will snap it right in half.

    One note, stormsplitter doubles the amount of it with each spell since its copies also have the “copy this creature” ability. Not prowess which is linear, stormsplitter is exponential. Four mana means it will have to stay on the board a turn most times, but casting 5 spells for 32 power is pretty okay

      He addressed it last friday. Reanimate is strong, but it's an integral part of regular reanimator, a long time deck that is rarely problematic.

    • @amatheuslc
      @amatheuslc 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      To illustrate: Reanimate is, according to MTGTop8, played in 23% of decks now. It was 14% in 2023, 4.7% in 2022, and 3.3% in 2020, before MH2 came out. This was Grief taking over the meta and people's hearts. It just took a while to figure out that Grief wasn't at it's best with Reanimate's usual friends, Griselbrand and Faithless Looting, but with ye old blue cantrip and counterspell shell.

    • @amatheuslc
      @amatheuslc 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think a large part of the reason it took that long for the UB Grief deck to emerge, additionally, was the lack of good cards that pitch to both Grief and FoW. 2023 had Atraxa, which kept the deck similar to it's old reanimator counterpart. You can see some people trying it in midrange shells with Leovold and Baleful Strix.
      The deck really took shape with Troll of Khazad Dúm and, sometimes, Sauron's Ramson instead of Atraxa for a UB card you could actually cast. Psychic Frog makes both Ramson and Atraxa obsolete, as well as being a strong card overall.
