Ever since I first started watching Mobile Suit Gundam one thing has always bugged me about sonething and that is why do some enemy mobile suits like Zakus,Dom Troopers and Ginns for example have only one optic.

Main gundams also only have one optic, which is on their head. The eyes are usually just for show. Monoeyes have 1 eye probably just to cut costs and for design purposes

Because the monoeye Is not a single optic but under the single lens there are various sensors.
They are not shown for animation purposes but it said that all MS have several sensors in various parts of the body but the main ones are in the head
