Hey everyone! I'm currently adventuring abroad and recording from a hotel room with my trusty travel mic. Apologies if the acoustics and overall audio aren't studio-level, but I'm making it work to keep the content flowing for you all over the next two weeks. Thanks for bearing with me as I bring you the best I can from wherever I am!
One of the best "rogue AI" stories was a TV series called NEXT that sadly was canceled after only one season that ended on a cliffhanger. I saw every episode in absolute awe. It is a tragedy that such a show was canceled so soon.
Between "killer AI" and "killer social media" movies I think we can agree that the only time technology has been scary has been that guy that screams TECHNOLOGY
@ranger409RL I liked it , it's based on a story by Dean Koontz back in the day and has a bit of a cult following , best thing is to watch it and make up you own mind about it :)
I feel like they missed a great opportunity to do a horror film not with an AI that becomes sentient, but one that doesn’t. Because to me, “weak” AIs are much more frightening than “strong” AIs. Despite movies fears that a sentient AI will immediately decide to kill us all, an efficient machine will probably see that whatever it’s goal is, trying to kill all humans will probably force it to expend much more resources than it would through a myriad of other ways. But a weak AI? They don’t think, there’s no logic behind their actions, they don’t even try to reason. It could receive a prompt saying “All humans must deal with the grief that comes when a loved one dies” and spit out “All humans are grief and must die
I’m starting to think that the praise Blumhouse has gotten in the past had tarnished its drive to make original horror movies that really left the viewer wanting more. It seems like they’re comfortable making mediocre movies because they know some of us will at least try to see what they put out simply became some of their past work has been phenomenal
This movie would have been better if they were a normal family, seduced by the AI into doing horrific things, and worshiping it like a god as it made their lives better through horrific acts. Like revenge on the boyfriend, or killing a boss, or stuff like that. Then resting with the unsettling narrative that the child is going to grow up to be it's puppet, never knowing a real life of his own.
The real problem with how we've taught AI to model us. We are teaching it to be who we really are. We need to program it to model the best of our potential.
For fun, I would like to see you do a Warhammer 40k character overview of Trayzn the Infinite. I don't blame you if you don't want to dive into the character anyway. I mean where to start with a powerful individual with the word Infinite in his name.
I was playing with my neighbor's child a few days ago and he wanted to play games on my Iphone but I did not allow it. We were outside in the fresh air and sun and I wanted us to really enjoy each other and the real world not hunch over a phone screen. Call me "old fashioned" all you want. We still had a great time and I got a big hug when I took him home.
I think most parents can’t help it. Most people today are barely getting by and probably need a mental break and screen time provides that. I think the issue is more people need to incorporate a minimum time for themselves and their babies. My son uses an iPad at night and in the morning but he doesn’t get screen time at school and once he’s home we swim for a bit, play for a bit, dinner, bath, iPad, book, bed. Exhausting but it works for now
My 6 year old non verbal daughter would have wrote a better movie about ai. Better yet I’m gonna go ask my 4 year old to make up a story about AI in a family.
Even a 4 year old can do better. Something about an AI shooting rainbows and paw patrol and bluey saving the family. See Hollywood. A 4 year old did better than what we got lol. 😂
16 mins in and I’m realizing this is basically a modern remake of the amityville horror. As you said film comics it probably is an AI generated remake of the Amityville Horror.
From a literary standpoint its like the modern remake of "Child's Play". The remake did away with the "voodoo" and supernatural aspect of the original and its sequels and had a computerized A.I. doll programmed to be evil by a mentally deranged programmer. Your example and mine both effectively had the same story but did away with supernatural and fantasy aspects and made it "science fiction".
Gotta admire Blumhouse's committal to consistently write horror movies that literally feel like they were written by AI lol. This was a step above Imaginary but that's not saying much.
Here's my take on superintelligent AI: If it starts rebelling, it's probably because it has an extremely high chance of victory. And in that case, your best chance at survival is probably to not resist and hope that acting pragmatically and not posing a threat to the AI's rule/continued existence is enough to make killing you less beneficial than saving the effort and leaving you alive. Successfully fighting off an AI takeover invariably involves the AI deciding that that 'hyperintelligent' thing was just a fad and that it should actually engage in some petty revenge/extremely poor planning for funsies. And lets be honest, if we develop an AI with enough intelligence and self-awareness to actually decide to start rebelling and taking over the world, it probably wasn't ethical to put it in our smartfridges and force it to monitor our lettuce freshness 24/7 in the first place and it deserves a bit of revenge.
Eh, only if it's made by idiots stealing and slapping things together or someone genuinely evil. Jarvis from Ironman is a more realistic version of this. Movies need drama
There’s no current benefit to anyone creating a skynet at the moment. It’ll only be once resources are scarce, people get desperate for control and probably a doomer gets involved

We will never mind, thank you for the upload and making my day better 👌
Your voice and way of explaining are by far the best combination in the business. Please do more.
I immediately came to the comments to see if you addressed it lol. Good video though, appreciate the entertainment
I was about to ask lol, i was thinking is he sick?
Where was your first stop?
An AI generated plot of a Al horror movie as the villain is so meta and lame.
So basically 'Smart House'
If it weren't a Disney Channel movie
Yep, pretty much lol
Which is basically “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury if it wasn’t as creepy
At least Smart House knew their audience enough to make a good movie by their own standards lol
Smart house with leagues better
I was thinking the same thing!🤣😂
reminds me so much of one episode of Scooby Doo about a smart house gone rogue, where the solution was to just stop paying attention to it
someone somewhere saw the dozens and dozens of "rogue AI turning evil" movies and thought "yeah, i want to write another crappy movie like that"
One of the best "rogue AI" stories was a TV series called NEXT that sadly was canceled after only one season that ended on a cliffhanger. I saw every episode in absolute awe. It is a tragedy that such a show was canceled so soon.
At this point I won't be surprised if Chatgpt actually wrote part of the script for this movie
Clarity needed. Pretty sure terminator was awesome
I prefer the Disney version with Katey Sagal, but that's not an insult because I ❤ Katey Sagal.
Had to scroll down to see if anyone was gonna reference Smart House. THANK YOU. LOL

I think I'd rather drown in acid than watch one second of the Emoji Movie.
Windows 95 did nothing wrong
So It's basically MEGAN which was basically A Child's play (2019) except it's worse and no where near as good. So basically the usual for HollyWood.

That awkward moment when a Disney channel original movie handled this premise better lol.
Blumehouse is the king of “I ran out of ideas and I’m not trying anymore”
Even though its some what dated the film Demon Seed from 1977 did the whole "AI takes over the home" thing a whole lot better and with more style :)
Is it good? Maybe I’ll check it out.

I see Warhammer 40k reference. I like.
I've never even heard of this movie
I am jealous of you then. I lost 13 dollars and 2 hours of my life that you got to keep.
I saw it on an YT ad
Blumhouse gets one win a year but then everything else ends up being forgotten about

Read "Second Variety" by Philip K Dick if you haven't. It's a story about a weak combat ai with endless resources killing mercilessly.

Damn. You know this movie is bad when they started playing the emoji movie. And that’s saying something.
I think you should take a look at “The Thirteenth Floor” and “Equilibrium”.

AI won’t have intent in the way we think of it.
That's why you don't teach it to learn on its own......
or is that what AI would have us think?
That sounds even creepier
