Hi Thomas, thanks for the comment. Check out the other videos with the engine running on the track: th-cam.com/video/PJGQ1jKTCYw/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/umcffhe_5hw/w-d-xo.html
Gandy Dancer--that is beautiful--such craftmanship and minature steam engineering..I have been trying for 5 years to get into model making especially steam and this 12 acres I am on is a commanding mistress and I cannot get to it...I reckon have about 6 months to go and then I am home free..Mind you its the only mistress I am ever likely to have, but when you have two lathes and a small mill it builds frustration----like tooth marks on the toilet door.. regards E
Very nice! I have a Rob Roy that someone started to build but didn't finish. They put the frame together and drivers with some valve gear inside the frame like you have here. I think I have most of the castings such as the pistons, steam dome and such. I don't have a mill so I doubt I will ever complete the locomotive but I do get motivated when I see videos such as yours.
DJB Model Engineering used to make the model and supply castings. I don't think they have made it for a while but check them out at www.djbengineering.co.uk/.
great engine looks amazing just wondering how you finish the cad as i am trying to get the rounded edges as making a pigs ear on the curves, yours look so neat, thanks for the old films of the coal mine engines, when we lived by the railway at chalford, they used to have a engine that came out behind the mainline train and get behind and help it up the gradient outside the house it would go that slow that when dad came home on it he would step off outside, rather than the station about a mile earlier, no health and safety then, thanks again for sharing
Hi, and thanks for your comment. With regard to the cab I guess you mean the door. I just blue the brass sheet and mark it out with a compass then cut and file to the line. The curved bits I cut with a piercing saw, that's one with a very narrow blade, so I can rotate as I cut. Practice will improve your technique.
@@jonathanguilbert8658 hi thanks for your reply, the curves i machined to get perfect match i was trying to roll over the edge to make it look like a hand rail running round the curve thought your had that lip on yours from the video
@@msampson1949 The lip is a strip of thin brass soldered onto the edge of the door aperture. Quite easy to do by bending the strip to the shape of the door then holding it in place with a piece of metal whilst you solder round the edge.
@@jonathanguilbert8658 thanks that sounds better than trying to roll it over thanks hope you do more of your ashley green video's they are great to watch thanks again for your help will keep it simple in the future
Hi Rui, the drawing were from DJB Engineering in UK (they have a website) and you could try them. It was some year ago since they made these locos and casting for sale, good luck.
Absolutely brilliant , well done sir, 👍👍👍🚂👍
Wow amazing Job! That is a very smooth running Locomotive .

Stunning Your work is stunning and it's just amazing that 'primitive' tech could cycle so quickly smoothly do you do school tours - your should

Simply amazing!
Very nice work!
Thanks.
Very cool
splendida realizzazione
Would you be prepared to share the plans for this engine as DJB have just informed me they no longer provide the plans or castings which is a shame.

Thanks Daniel, glad you enjoyed it and there's more to come.
Very nice are the castings still available

Very good....👍 genius....
I also want to make a locomotive miniature ..... how do I make it ...?
It's complicated, It's basically a shrinked steam loco
i'm kid ever Visit to you home........
