    I just got into Amazon as a manager. Total compensation about $70k give or take for the first year. One of the hiring managers I spoke with said he started out in operations, but Amazon provided training to move to the cloud side, and now he works fully remote (probably making six figures). Point is, get in the door if you can (I know the job market is terrible right now for finding tech jobs) and opportunities abound.

    Great video, I'm going to try to get into a cloud role and use your guides. I'm tired of desktop support.

    I want to understand how possible is it really to get into cloud engineering without a BS in computer science etc. Is it only possible with freelancing or will major companies look past no formal education. When looking on indeed and upwork almost every posting is asking for this. I have 15 years experience with computers but in slightly different ways than cloud computing or IT. Sounds incredibly exciting but I want to ensure it's possible without starting from 0 as I make good money in my current role in the oil and gas industry.

      Just keep making the good money then; cloud is still good but equally competitive particularly when getting started

      @@ebukaobiakor9322Makes sense at same time I really would like to have the ability to work remote full time in the future and my current role at best is fit for hybrid, I don't mind competition just not trying to waste my time if the barrier to entry is impossibly high (I'm not going back to college) .

      I have an associates, I got my cloud architect and practitioner certification, learned Python, web development as well. I've applied and called hundreds of jobs. The truth is programs like synk and google bard and chat gpt are killing the field. Over 60,000 people from Microsoft and Amazon alone were fired in 2023 and 2024(this field didn't have any dead weight to begin with, it's not like companies wanna burn 80-150k a year) so you will enter the market with no experience against a heavily saturated market of displaced people that companies will take one look at their and your application and throw yours out immediately. It had a good year during COVID but that time had passed

      @@theelderswearYea I've seen a lot of the bad news and AI stuff etc, but at the very least I'd like to find a way towards remote work regardless of what I have to learn. Big companies can't or won't hire me fine, but there's got to be a way to freelance this kinda stuff in a manner that it can eventually become full time.

    The cloud and tech industry are now very saturated its hard to land an entry job now no matter your skills. During covid tech companies overhired and then let them go but people selling courses are still selling the dream of 6 figure income working from home be careful.

    • @techwithsoleyman
      @techwithsoleyman  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      oversaturated with low skilled people, hiring is back up now too
