Apparently this was recorded in the middle of a Swindon winter, according to the liner notes. It still has a hot summer vibe, though at a quicker tempo than the final album cut.
... what a cracking version! love the more psychedelic guitar vibes & that drum rhythm is hypnotically compelling! sending gidvibes aplenty & all the very best to you & yours...
Nice to hear an early version of GENIUS! This is so good. I love this as well as the Todd produced Skylarking version, they're both so good. I just don't hear anyone else with this level of musical exploration in a single track these days. So inspired.
One of the really fun things about the Fuzzy Warbles music (for me) is hearing the early versions of lyrics. This us a good example, and BALLET FOR A RAINY DAY has some lyrical differences I found interesting too. Love this version!!
here's proof positive that the very moment a work of art is borne it has 99% of what it will ever, ever need
Proof that even a demo by XTC is better than most of the music on the radio. The outro reminds me of something The Who would have done.
It also proves that a XTC demo is better than what ended up on the final record!

This band should be a household name. Thankful I had parents playing their albums through my childhood
This is the best song on ANY of the Fuzzy Warbles. I have always loved this version.

XTC turned it into a masterpiece.
Correction - Todd Rundgren turned it into a masterpiece
@@nicolek.3614 Both of them, I would say.
Zero people learned to swim.
Over produced - prefer the version on Skylarking.
