Worked there as an environmental educator in the 80's and 90' s when the nature center was built. The bird is a Wood Duck and the turtles are likely red-eared sliders, a non-native species. Only in L.A. would you find photo enforced stop signs in a natural area. Glad to be out of the state, but love and miss Franklin Canyon.
Nice job guys. really enjoyed your video. I discovered the lake recently while riding my bike in Beverly Hills. Now it's on my bi weekly menu of rides. It's best to go early in the week as locals told me it's been getting quite crowded on the weekends.
Blake and I have always had a great time together and still act like little boys when we are hanging out. We both take after our mother's side of the family which is how we are related. We are second cousins but look just like our grandfathers who were brothers. Glad someone appreciates our humor. lol
I have seen this in so many shows….Star Trek for one. Such a beautiful place to be so close to a big city.
Until I went there, had no idea it was there. It was indeed a hidden gem.
Another place I need to go see. Thanks for showing us what it’s like.
You'll enjoy it!

Thank you for the info on the duck and the turtles. I need to visit there again.
Nice video. This is also the location of the album cover for the rolling stones High Tides & Green Grass from 1965.
Thanks! That is really interesting about the album cover.
That is a “wood duck” beautiful birds
Thanks for the clarification.

Thank you! It's always nice to hear feedback. It is a great place and a bike ride there would be great. Enjoy!!
@@adventureswithkendall Lovely incorporation of the old, "Andy of Mayberry" reels. Great job!
@@PLS.54 Thanks!
I was there in 2017 and part of the lake was dried out. I wonder if its still like that now.
I don't think it was when we were there. Hopefully the additional rains of the past few years have helped.
I’m not afraid of animals, humans scare me! Ha.
Ha ha, valid point!
Did your cousin get your dry sense of humor? Very witty!
