As a teenager, we used to swim in that reservoir. Occasionally booted out by a helicopter that would tell us to leave, but for the most part it was great swimming and the water tasted good as all hell.
Dams can collapse if they crack due to an earthquake, flood due to a hurricane, or are attacked by a terrorist. Dam collapses are not uncommon. Homes on Stone Canyon Road require disaster preparedness.
I feel very happy for the rich people with views of the big green cover.
The view is of the lower reservoir, it’s actually pretty impressive in person.

The only good news I’ve heard today.
One of few places in L.A you can visit and feel civilized. Most of L.A and California is disgusting. Dumping ground for homeless and drug addicts.
i live in this neighborhood and would love to access this water for recreation purposes.
