Chris is awesome! There aren't many workers like that left in this world. Steve, you have a precious tool there in your shop in Chris. 😊 Such a great person.
What don't Chris know? Steve one of your best decisions you made in 2024 was to hire Chris. Well worth his weight in gold. Not to many mechanics today are, they just think they are. Daaam the back end of the FLD is lookin' great. Proof is in the puddin' that Chris is bustin' his ass and not just on the FLD. But everything he does. He is definitely an asset to the channel because you both work well together.
I was a mechanic for 50+ years on the road , like Chris after sometime you don’t even think about it’s just nature! Thank God I am retired. LOL. Love your channel
Chris is a very clever guy, he brought this channel making good of great old school trucks Steve must be over the moon with chris period a very smart cool guy is worth is wait in gold.
Can’t save em all! But you sure can try! As someone who isn’t yet in the industry, I loved the info about the brakes. Thanks for your helpful explanations always
I knew the brakes were self adjusting but that was the first time I’d seen an explanation of the way the self adjuster worked and I’ve been driving 5 years. One day would love to go the O/O route and enjoy the knowledge shared
When Steve zoomed in on Chris's boots I was thinkin' of the movie as well. To funny. And it's hard to get rid of a great and comfortable pair of boots..
It's amazing how much better that truck looks already. Its amazing what a little tlc can do to what someone considered throwaway. I appreciate you taking the time to explain how the brake geometry comes into play and how all those components work together. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who's never had a vehicle with air brakes. and being a product of the 80's, by the time I did get to drive, I've always had disc. Gonna be the best year yet and looking forward to all that gets done. We'll hopefully see FLD and Ford on the road this year!
That brake spring tool is brilliant I wish we had something like that in the UK when I was doing that job 20+years ago. Chris does a brilliant job, he's had plenty of experience. Good luck to you both and your families. I love watching your channel. Best of Luck Steve and Chris.
Such a pleasure watching a Master at work. The calmness, orderliness, and precise movement are impressive. Chris is an investment paying back many fold.
The brake spring tools come in yellow and red, the yellow is for Rockwell, and the red is for Eaton. I have the lisle 39980, which is yellow and the 39970 which is red. I inherited both of them from my uncle years ago after he retired.
Thought You was put'n Disk brakes on her, lol Those bake pads are tiny compared to my Old Ford Taurus , LOL I like this GoPro channel, I'm very comfortable with the way you guys Operate. Very Solid
LT 890 Q shoe pliers , yellow LT 895 Eaton shoe pliers , red Lisle 29450 bushing driver . Cut another slit in old bushings with a Sawzall to easily remove . Use silicone paste to lubricate anchor bushings . All above mentioned , Amazon . Good work ethic Chris !
Ya i remember when i showed Chris this trick way back when.......... His always showing my tips and tricks off.. 😂😅 Thanks guys for all the knowledge you give out and wisdom 🙏🏽.
How are you doing today my friend and how is Jenn and chirs doing today on this beautiful day and I like watching your TH-cam videos and they are very educated and I like the way you explain things to your viewers in the videos
That's today's technology back in the day when my father was changing his brake shoes my dad did his the way Chris was saying with a flathead screw driver the old way back in the day, have a good one Mr feszchak. Michael from Mississippi
Great video Steve and Chris really enjoy watching you work on Elaine's rear brake shoe's and brake chambers. It's always nice to learn something new and helpful on installing those springs on the brakes on Elaine. Thanks for sharing stay safe Steve and Chris.
I use to have a small crows foot pry bar and use that with a hammer to get those springs on . Had no problems . I use to change brakes in the fuel lanes . At the shop I worked at . When I was on night shift . Keep them trucks rolling .
My cousin is a desiel tech and farm boy. I'm the auto tech, but I love watching your videos. Always down to learn something new and see the similarities.
Damn Steve, definitely learn something new everyday! Chris is the best $$$ you’ve spent in a long time. Really thought we’d be getting last part of Aspen load tonight, but glad to see Elaine getting additional upgrades. Either way appreciate the video!
I want a scale replica of Orwell plus trailer and load. Good American 20oz coffee mugs with Orwell driving right at me. Just sayin merchandise yourself and your truck further and a million dollars is a lot closer. Who wouldn’t want a die cast Orwell on their desk? Who wouldn’t want their kids or grandkids to find a pressed steel tonka style Orwell and trailer under the tree?
Terrific content and editing guys! I should also add that the length of your videos matters... find that I can easily watch all the way through an educational and engaging video of around 30 minutes. Any longer and I get restless. Both of you have great work ethic.
Another awesome video you and Chris make a great team over there at the FSC trucking headquarters. Oh yeah, looking forward to the next video. Can’t wait to see you laying up and running and on the road.
The other way you showed, pry bar with a groove cut in the center to fit around the shank of the big spring works a lot easier than the screwdriver trick. There's also a special tool.
Thanks for the show and tell. 👍 I learned something new today. Probably will never need it, but it's one more thing I know. These kind of things are interesting to me. Must be another reason why I continue to watch... that and waiting for Chris to paint himself again!😄
Chris does make it look easy and I’m guessing for you Steve it’s piece of mind knowing it’s done right and you don’t have to worry about anything going down the road except for the other guy on the road 😂!!! Definitely loving the shop videos and at the risk of getting Chris mad tell him that he missed a spot under the axle 😂😂😂 I bet he’ll get a charge out of that!!! But I can’t wait to see you driving Elaine and thinking it’ll be easier getting back in the sleeper on the long road trips!!??? Keep the amazing content coming and I’ll see you in the next one!!
Good morning Chris Steve interesting video about braking system on Elaine wishing i was young man i would love to drive for you been a dream to drive a American truck 🚛🚒 but retired from international truck driver thanks 👍 again
It's crazy that even the diesel tech school I went too. Didn't teach us about the top and bottom holes in that chamber mounting plate. I knew about short and long stroke. I always ordered the same stroke brake chamber and cut the rod to the same length. Then put it back in the holes it was in. I never knew what the other holes were for.
It's very smart to put double brake chambers on both axles. I had a truck roll on me that just had one axle with double brake chambers, including the trailer. Ironically, it was a Ford CL 9000. I put doubles on the truck and trailer, making it way safer.
I did the brakes the second way he did but i put a hydraulic jack under the bottom shoe . Snap on had the tool to stretch the inner spring. Denis from Santa Rosa Ca
All vehicles big and small will always need " a little tender loving care " lol ty for letting me share Matt AKA DDP be safe out there My 2 friends and brothers and sisters yuuuuup
Chris obviously has a whole lot of experience. Experience makes difficult tasks look easy. Experience also reduces the chances of having to re-do things because you didn't get it right the first time.
yep i got that tool it don't work on every set of shoes tho depends on how the springs are made. also there's a tool for the slack adjusters too no screwdriver needed lol
Haha I was about to make that exact same search on Google...thanks Steve XD I help my old man fix his Kenworth semi and installing the rear brakes is definitely gonna be way easier with that tool.
Chris is the very best investment you made when you took on this Master Mechanic as he is Worth his weight in GOLD
Hsy at least he's a extra hand if Steve needs another hand.
Chris is worth every dollar to I would totally hire him
Channel has taken several steps forward by hiring Chris ❤❤❤
Chris is one helluva mechanic he does everything efficiently and neatly
I agree. Reminds me a lot of my old employer I used to work for over a decade ago. Chris is one great Master Mechanic 💁♂️😉👍
I will say this about the channel - lots of effort goes into the camera angles and editing. It shows. 👍🏼
Chris is awesome! There aren't many workers like that left in this world. Steve, you have a precious tool there in your shop in Chris. 😊
Such a great person.

Old School knowledge and pride!
Having the correct tools for the job makes things easier, being a master mechanic helps too.
I love the shop time as much as road time it breaks it up show half & half
I was a mechanic for 50+ years on the road , like Chris after sometime you don’t even think about it’s just nature! Thank God I am retired. LOL. Love your channel
It’s really great seeing Chris in a relaxed atmosphere. Fully able to enjoy his work.
Im gonna agree with you gentlemen, Chris has proven himself as an excellent mechanic, and a huge asset to the business!!
Being a good mechanic is lot like being a good baker; you learn all the tips and tricks, stuff that ain't on a recipe card.
Chris is a very clever guy, he brought this channel making good of great old school trucks Steve must be over the moon with chris period a very smart cool guy is worth is wait in gold.
Gracias por el vídeo 📹, saludos desde sudamerica Chile 🇨🇱
"Who knew? He did". And you were smart enough to hire him!
A good mechanic always makes things like this look easy-peasy...
That tool is just flat out awesome. Thats just handy lol.
I've never driven a rig or ever worked on one. I find this stuff fascinating.
Elaine has come a long way love to see it ! Love seeing these old schools get rebuilt and not thrown away to the scrapyard.
Dang, that brake install was too Kool, and Chris didn't even have to use the Hot Wrench! Lmao!😅
Chris only likes the hot wrench for removals 🤣🤣
T Hasl from Norway 🇧🇻 again.. i can't wait to see Elaine on the road. Thank you Steve.
The boots reference with harley and Marlboro was great.😂😂
When Steve zoomed in on Chris's boots I was thinkin' of the movie as well. To funny. And it's hard to get rid of a great and comfortable pair of boots..
Yeah, there's something to that.
@@fsctruckingI’m surprised you don’t have to torque all the nuts on the break chambers and adjusters.
Experience and knowledge something you can't get from a book got yourself a good mechanic there
Og edit style cris is worth his weight knowing what guy knows time & money cany buy you
Most informative, thanks 😅
Chris could probably do a lotta things blind folded quicker than most do with their eyes 👀 open. That brake tool saves a lotta cuss words LMAO 😂
Yet again, an old school mechanic at work. Chris is awesome. Love the variety, Steve. What a team. How did the weekend side by siding go?
Great refresher course. Haven't done brakes since the 90s!
A skilled mechanic sure does make things go smooth!
It's amazing how much better that truck looks already. Its amazing what a little tlc can do to what someone considered throwaway. I have been binge watching all your videos. Glad there's a new Elaine video. Cheers from Canada.
Nice! Working smarter, not harder. Thanks Steve & Chris.
That brake spring tool is brilliant I wish we had something like that in the UK when I was doing that job 20+years ago. Chris does a brilliant job, he's had plenty of experience. Good luck to you both and your families. I love watching your channel.

You read my mind on the boot clip. I was literally saying that line when the clip popped up 😂
Such a pleasure watching a Master at work. The calmness, orderliness, and precise movement are impressive. Chris is an investment paying back many fold.

Can't wait to see Elaine pull a load awesome work you two
How are you doing today my friend and how is Jenn and chirs doing today on this beautiful day and I like watching your TH-cam videos and they are very educated and I like the way you explain things to your viewers in the videos
If only you could explain the same way that Stave does.
The workshop videos are not to be missed 🛠👏
Sweet spring installation sequence and tool! Yay Chris!
That's today's technology back in the day when my father was changing his brake shoes my dad did his the way Chris was saying with a flathead screw driver the old way back in the day, have a good one Mr feszchak. Michael from Mississippi
As for someone who has never worked on a big rig I was always wondering exactly how air brakes worked you really did explain it very well.
Great video Steve and Chris really enjoy watching you work on Elaine's rear brake shoe's and brake chambers. It's always nice to learn something new and helpful on installing those springs on the brakes on Elaine. Thanks for sharing stay safe Steve and Chris.

That is a guy that knows exactly what he is doing. He must love it because at his age you would figure he must be absolutely bored with it.
Best Trucking TH-cam Channel by Far! Great content! ❤
yep i got that tool it don't work on every set of shoes tho depends on how the springs are made. also there's a tool for the slack adjusters too no screwdriver needed lol
He showed me that slack adjuster tool online. I may have to order one now
Haha I was about to make that exact same search on Google...thanks Steve XD
I help my old man fix his Kenworth semi and installing the rear brakes is definitely gonna be way easier with that tool.
Having the right tools is not worth diddly unless you know how to use them. The FSC guys KNOW how to use them....
