It is time, Rich. Long overdue. Both sides need a fresh start. This is not good enough for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it is been like this for 8 years.
Last 5 playoff appearances first half aggregate score are ridiculously bad. Indicates ill prepared teams. 4 playoff wins in last 15 years. 0 in last 8. All this after Cowhers' players and coaches retired or were forced out. ( see Dick LaBeau and Bruce Arians.)
@mcconologue1898, can we not talk about Bruce Arians and Dick Lebeau? It’s bad enough they have to take sharp objects away from me cause we’re stuck with Tomlin.
Do you remember some months back when Tomlin was full of himself talking about his pay grade? He was bragging about how smarter he was over the rest of the world. I am so glad this humiliation is taking place.
Soooo, sports broadcasters, what happened to the “Tomlin has 9 straight years of having a winning season”narrative? That has been rammed down our throats for years. NOW, actual stats matter??🤷🏽♀️
The difference is Cowher built it back up and handed it over to Tomlin! But Tomlin has brought it back down for several reasons to their peak of just MEDIOCRITY.
People say 'the offense reverted back to.... the defense fell apart... no O line.... no pass game.... no ground game.... And it's all true, how did it all go away? That's what's not being said. Instead, they say 'maybe Tomlin should move on'. What they don't say is the reason all these things are happening all at once like a ton of bricks is because the team has quit on the coach and there is nothing that can be done to repair it. There, now it's been said, the Steelers quit on Tomlin and looked like poo poo doing it. Tomlin gotta go.
Rich is only 5-7 years behind most Steelers fans. Only difference is Mike Tomlin is no where near the caliber of Andy Reid as a coach. As a leader and motivator hats off he does the job better then anyone there but gmae planning and development of talent (both coaching and players) he hasn't had it. the only time he had success was when the OC(Bruce Airians, Todd Haley) and DC(Dick Labue) had control of their groups. People fear an Andy Reid game plan, were as people scratch their head at a Mike Tomlin game plan. You can say "look at the players he had to work with these last few years he's been dragging them to winning seasons". TOMLIN IS THE ONE WHO DRAFTS/SIGNS AND (IS SUPPOSE TO) DEVELOP ALL THESE GUYS. This is just frustrating to be stuck in this Groundhogs day loop of no hope.
Im a Steeler for so long that I cant even remember when I was not...40 years have gone by. I made my son a Steeler 10 years ago and we went to the see them play several times (all losses by the way, at home) and now Im sick and tired of giving my son reasons to be a fan of this team that has lost its mojo and no longer plays a part for the SuperBowl fight. We just don't care (in Tomlin words) about having winning seasons, and yes, continue to be humiliated year to year by teams in the PlayOffs and in regular season by mediocre teams that come out to play minute one of the game and we don't show up. My son is tired of the Pittsburg Steelers year to year failure, and quite honest, all the fan base that I know, including me. Finally, I believe many of our talented players are too!
@grantorino7644 Desean Jackson, Shady McCoy, Eagles adult players who had to deal with his hyper controlling and racism complacent behavior, and the 49ers all have good reason to regret allowing Kelly to helm their teams.
Tomlin gets all the credit when they win but none when they lose and its so wrong. He made bad choices and bad clock management in so many games that helped them lose the game. Alla...Bengals going on 4th down n donating Burrow 3 points and lost by 2! Dude can't win big games...PERIOD
The whole “not having a losing season” isn’t all that impressive when a bunch of those seasons were 8-8, 9-7, etc. The Steelers are just good enough to stay mediocre
Tomlin had the killer bees… I’m done with this guy. Trade him, revamp the O line, keep fields, go get Ben Johnson. I will not watch another Steelers game until this man is gone.
He inherited his only Superbowl winning team from Cowher and Labeau. As those players and coaches diminished so did his success to his ceiling and floor of MEDIOCRITY! HE HASNT BEEN ABLE TO DEVELOP, SELECT ASSISTANTS OR ELEVATE TO KEEP THEM ANYWHERE NEAR THE TOP!
So if he does go for it and don't get it then it's fire Tomlin man we wasn't even supposed to make the playoffs we are rebuilding u no that if you are a a Steelers fan for more than ten years
The Steelers last playoff win was against the Chiefs where they 18-16 and didn't score a TD and kicked 6 FGs. This caused the Chiefs to trade up and draft Patrick Mahomes. I remember being miserable after that loss thinking will the misery ever end for my team. Now, 3 superbowls later with a potential 4th as they are on the verge of a historic 3peat and the Steelers are in purgatory. Never thought I say this but thank you for that defeat back in the 2016 playoffs, it changed the course of Chiefs history.
Tomlin has been the head coach for 18 years and only in FOUR of those years have we won playoff games. None since like 2017. I’m gonna lose my mind at the rationalization to not even consider this man’s job status. I guess the standard is the standard, and that standard is 10-7 with no playoff wins. Thanks Rooney.
Tomlin has only won a playoff game in 4 seasons out of his 18 seasons as head coach, and it appears Big Ben and Dick LeBeau as defensive coordinator carried Tomlin. Importantly it’s how we lose more than that we lost to a better team. Tomlin’s defenses get smoked in playoffs. Sign of bad coaching.
Lost 6 playoff games in a row and 4 of em were with Ben as QB. Collapsed from 11-0 start to lose 5 of last 6 and Browns beat us at home in WC round. MASTER OF MEDIOCRITY NO MATTER HOW YOU FRAME IT
The defense started giving up a bunch more yards because TJ Watt gets tired of carrying the entire load and wants other people to step up and they never do. They’ll just watch him destroy his body and still sit back and collect the paycheck.
Tomlin is the most overrated coach in football. People who ask get rid of him for whom, don't realize that quality coaches would love to coach here. Real Steelers fans aren't satisfied with mediocrity.
"Oozes hard nosed football" SINCE WHEN RICH? SINCE WHEN? Does a "hard nosed football team" waste a five td performance by Big Ben by allowing a 21-0 lead in 2017? Or allowing the absolute fiasco of 2020 happen? 2021? 2023? 2024? When can we be honest man?
Thinking Tomlin can go the way of Reid is kind of funny. Reid is an offensive genius who molded an extremely talented, but raw, QB into a potential GOAT. Tomlin is a pretty good defensive mind who let Randy Fichtner and MATT F*CKING CANADA run his offense for multiple seasons while his defense (with multiple All-Pros at all 3 levels) disappears in every meaningful game. I've said it 100 times; If Tomlin was half as good at putting together a staff/roster/game plan as he was at impressing people like Rich with his witty quips, he'd be one of the greatest coaches ever instead of just the most entertaining. Love Mike T the person, ready to see him coach somewhere else.
The Steelers defense isn't good enough to compete against top AFC QB's in the playoffs despite spending more of their cap on defense than any other team in the league. The QB's since Ben got washed haven't been good enough to compete against playoff defenses. Changing head coach won't magically fix those problems.
Mike tomlin can not control his locker room, AB, Bell, Schuster, Claypool, who ever #14 is this year... he can not develop players. They get a few lucky draft oicks and a few good free agency pick ups and they ride that to mediocre. If i described a team with a hall of fame DE, and a hall of fame DB. A top 15 running back who has not made it past the first round of the playoffs in a decade, am i describing the steelers or the Browns?
In 2018, Steelers drafted QB Rudolph in 3rd round, sending Roethlisberger in a pouting mode. Imagine his reaction had the Steelers drafted QB Jackson in Round 1…
Let him pout. If he didn't want to play anymore, there's the door. Yes even for Ben. The team is bigger than any single person. Even Ben. Even Mike. Even Art. Everyone is replaceable.
i don't know why they would care about that, if Ben pouted his way off the team in 2018/2019 to clear the way for Lamar it woulda been the best thing that ever happened to them Ben was already washed and the way they just blindly let him hang around as long as he wanted with zero plan for the future was just absolutely clueless on their part
Mike Tomlin is a solid coach. The problem is, at this level, what you want is a championship-level coach. Outside the four coaches that make it to the conference championship, for everyone else the fuse is burning.
The key to success in the NFL is having a good quarterback. The Steelers haven't had one since Big Ben retired. The problem is that Tomlin is too good. Since his Steelers never have a losing record the team is always drafting in the 17-20 range, well after the top QB prospects are taken. Ironically he needs a really terrible season to get the quarterback that will make them serious contenders again. Pittsburgh fans need to be careful for what the wish for here. The Steelers never really suck. There are adult fans who have never experienced knowing your season is a waste of time by October 1. Or knowing it's a waste of time before it even starts because you haven't made the playoffs in years and nothing was done in the offseason to improve. Changing a head coach, not because the team was abysmal but just because they were underachieving in the playoffs, runs the risk of botching the next hire in a serious way and sending the franchise into truly dark times. Though that is a frustrating situation. It's an easier decision to shakes things up if the team is outright bad rather than just not good enough. I figure one part of it that would make the Rooneys apprehensive about moving on from Tomlin is that having only three coaches since 1969 is part of the Steelers brand. It would be extremely damaging if Tomlin's successor doesn't continue the trend. As long as Tomlin continues to win then that high pressure decision on his replacement gets kicked down the road.
The lesson here is the same today as it was then. When you have an elite quarterback, you win, a lot of games. And when your elite quarterback, retires, you lose a lot of games.
as a BROWNS fan i’m torn between munching on this drama like it’s a 5 GUYS burger and my respect for TOMLIN and what he’s done for all those years in PITT..could be his time to move on and get a fresh start

"All we do is live in our fears." --Mike Tomlin
This mediocrity has become, "The Standard..." It was time to move on before Ben retired!
As a Ravens fan, I say keep on with what you are doing Pittsburgh.
Who can forget all those Super Bowls the Ravens won this past decade.
What I wouldn’t give if we traded Tomlin to the Bengals.
Yeah because the ravens have won so many more rings since Tomlin became OC. Really stellar team there.
@@joepa87114oh you say that now but then you will get stuck in purgatory
@@SneakySnake133 Keep your head in the sand and continue to go 9-8 and lose wildcard games with Tomlin. Sounds like a good plan.
They also passed years later on Jalen Hurts and Jordan Love.
Smart not to draft Love. Guy is mediocre at best.
They took Terrell Edmunds two picks before Lamar 😢
Neither of those qbs are generational talents lol, fields is absolutely more talented than both
They didn’t pass on Jordan love. Traded the first round pick for minkah that year
@@SneakySnake133 Obviously, ou have not watched enough Fields passing plays over the years.
Do you remember some months back when Tomlin was full of himself talking about his pay grade? He was bragging about how smarter he was over the rest of the world. I am so glad this humiliation is taking place.
Definitely time for a change
Soooo, sports broadcasters, what happened to the “Tomlin has 9 straight years of having a winning season”narrative? That has been rammed down our throats for years. NOW, actual stats matter??🤷🏽♀️
The difference is Cowher built it back up and handed it over to Tomlin! But Tomlin has brought it back down for several reasons to their peak of just MEDIOCRITY.
Regular season MEDIOCRITY isn't a winning season ever in PITTSBURGH. COME ON MAN
People say 'the offense reverted back to.... the defense fell apart... no O line.... no pass game.... no ground game....
No playoff success with Big Ben, Bell, and Brown who were top rusher and WR in league at the time. NOT A BIG GAME HEAD COACH WHEN IT COUNTS. PERIOD
Keep telling us Steelers fans how crazy and ridiculous we are, though. Glad ya finally got on board. Took ya long enough.
Rich is about 5 years behind logic.
Careful what you wish for. As a former Eagles fan I've got two words for you: Chip Kelly
Chip Kelly seems to be doing just fine
@grantorino7644 Desean Jackson, Shady McCoy, Eagles adult players who had to deal with his hyper controlling and racism complacent behavior, and the 49ers all have good reason to regret allowing Kelly to helm their teams.
As long as Big Ben was on the roster, drafting his replacement was never taken seriously. Thanks, #7.
@steel-storm1,I had no idea Ben was our qb and Gm 🤦♂️
Hallelujah!! Rich has finally seen the light!!
Well put, Rich!
Doesn't get team focused, prepared, or gameplan necessary to win ANY big games when we gotta have it. THEREFORE YOU CANNOT BE CLASSIFIED AS GREAT
Tomlin gets all the credit when they win but none when they lose and its so wrong.
Not going for it on 4th and inches despite analytics suggesting it and the announcers outright mocking Tomlin for deciding to punt said it all
So if he does go for it and don't get it then it's fire Tomlin man we wasn't even supposed to make the playoffs we are rebuilding u no that if you are a a Steelers fan for more than ten years
Yes, it is, and has been for years now.
He should have been let go after the 2020 collapse. Maybe before that. nary a playoff win in the last 9 years would get anyone else fired
You are alright with me Rich!! I'm from Western Pennsylvania
Never thought I say this but thank you for that defeat back in the 2016 playoffs, it changed the course of Chiefs history.
the Glazing continues
The Rooney’s will watch the entire fan base walk before holding Tomlin accountable.
Roethlisberger made Tomlin look better than he really is. Grade... Regular season coach (B), Post season coach (D), Average at best (C)
Unquestionably a phenomenal leader... if only that was enough. Time for a change
His primary issue is his schemes are outdated
That's frickin' hilarious 😂😂😂
What was the ending 😂 find their what?! I’m dead.
Rich Eisen is under Tomlin's desk....
Sad to be you.
Tomlin is a huge cowboys fan.Just ask terry Bradshaw..
You know when Rich Eisen is thinking it's time for Tomlin to go that there's a need for the change!
The game was against the Cardinals, the score ended in Pittsburgh favor, the year/game was the 2009 SB
Its time, Michael. (in Dr. Loomis’ voice) 😆
Well well well… so who was right all along Rich??? Nice to see you eating your words. Welcome to the hostage fan based.
I love Coach Tomlin and have defended him over the past 3 years, after this Season it's time to part ways in my eyes !
I love Mike Tomlin but yes sometimes it's just not working anymore for both sides. Time for some Coach Flores.
The Steelers defense isn't good enough to compete against top AFC QB's in the playoffs despite spending more of their cap on defense than any other team in the league. The QB's since Ben got washed haven't been good enough to compete against playoff defenses. Changing head coach won't magically fix those problems.
It's way beyond time. Never seen such a half-assed effort from a Steelet team.
There is no one more delusional about Tomlin than Eisen
You are so right.
Reminds me of Marvin Lewis
Rudolph, Pickett,Fields and Wilson. Front office did that. Get this man some players.
It is, and it has been....but they wont. Im born & raised in pittsburgh and have only had 2 coaches in my lifetime
Even Ben. Even Mike. Even Art. Everyone is replaceable.
i don't know why they would care about that, if Ben pouted his way off the team in 2018/2019 to clear the way for Lamar it woulda been the best thing that ever happened to them
Ben was already washed and the way they just blindly let him hang around as long as he wanted with zero plan for the future was just absolutely clueless on their part
@@mattcarberry368 Lamar has done less with more than Tomlin has...
I would call you a Tomlin "Apple Polisher."
Imagine if the Steelers had Lamar and Henry instead of Najee and Russ
Imagine if anybody dis
Tomlin had full final say in the draft selections.
Rich Big Ben post Tommy John was a different guy
Weren’t we supposed to finish last in the AFC North?
I know for sure he’s lost the Steelers fanbase which is hard to do because we know how great and loyal the Terrible Towels are.
Mike Tomlin- Arch Manning future head coach-quarterback combo for the Dallas Cowboys. 💙 🤍🤘
I remember Rich scrutinizing Yinzers for wanting to move on from Mike Tomlin for his post season struggles. Look who was right, Rich..
Reed is by far and way a better HC than Tomlin especially geared to what it takes to win offensively In today's NFL. REED IS WAY BETTER. TOMLIN WON'T SUCCEED ANYWHERE NEAR THAT.
Now I don't follow Steelers football that closely, but Tomlin does not seem like the kind of coach who would get on with Jerry down in Dallas 😅
Makes sense, Edmunds was bad karma when he was on the field.
