Hey Tatum. You need to look into those five officers and how they were hired. Memphis changed their hiring policy. They couldn’t find anyone who could pass the written test or the pops test. So they got rid of it. They also allow at least one felony on their record. As long as it’s a non violent felony. And I think two or three of those officers have a felony on their record. But all five were hired under MPD new policy. Look into it 👍🏾

@ibpopn1653 She got on TV slandering them before the body cam videos were viewed. When maybe they were doing EXACTLY what SHE TRAINED them to do?! That's her job isn't it?

They are not her officers. They were fired and very rightfully. Why should she support people that did wrong. In the military should the high ups support subordinates that commit war crimes?

She's been down this road before and like you all said, she's trying to deflect. "Memphis police chief fired from a previous job in Atlanta after botched sex crimes probe", reports the NYPost. So, she knows this will lead to yet another firing for her so she has to get in front of this fast. What she's doing however, is making it worse for her by making the incident sound so horrible, which it was, but she's dramatizing it so the cops look bad and no one looks at her, but it makes her look just as bad as she's making them look.
This is the same police chief who once refused to investigate and press charges on a pedophile. The feds had to come in and charge the guy because she refused. That's how honest, competent, and trustworthy she is. THAT is how much she actually cares about Justice. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
The reason why she wouldn't do it is because It was one of her own OFFICERS who was caught in the act of doing horrific things with a NINE year old!! In other words whose gonna address the problem with the violent offenders in those high crime areas? Davis joined the Atlanta Police Department in 1986.[3] She was demoted and then fired in 2008, but reinstated following an appeal process. Davis has served as president of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.[5] In 2020, Davis appeared on Good Morning America, where she called for "sweeping changes and police reform" following the murder of George Floyd.and police reform" following the murder of George Floyd. She was sworn in as the Memphis police chief in 2021. Davis is the Memphis Police Department's first Black female chief,[7] she is also the first female police chief of Memphis. In January 2023, Davis described the killing of Tyre Nichols as a "defining moment" in the Memphis Police Department's history.[5] She terminated the employment of five police officers associated with Nichols' death. And this is what Really bothers me. it's like she was looking for her version of George Floyd or she was set up and put into place to do exactly this and to roll out the footage and outrage right when the Pfzier video by Project Vertias happened and all this stuff in congress and the housing market is going on. It's so strange.
She should have never been rehired or in a position of power after 2008. She was fired from the Atlanta police department in 2008 for her alleged involvement in a sex crimes investigation into the husband of an Atlanta police sergeant, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Two detectives accused Davis of telling them not to investigate Terrill Marion Crane, who was married to sergeant Tonya Crane after the police department obtained photos of him with underage girls. A federal grand jury later indicted Terrill Crane on child pornography. He pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography in 2009, the newspaper reported. That’s what the scorpion unit was for. Arresting repeat offenders/ felons which decreased crime by 12%. Unfortunately some bad apples spoiled a bunch. Also the crime is terrible here so there’s no cleaning up overnight. The hiring changes came because the are short handed because everyone is leaving in droves due to the increase in crime. Police officers are quitting in large numbers and to sustain the lowered standards to get the numbers that are needed to maintain. Happens in many organizations, especially the military. Theirs a rumor circulating on Reddit, that Tyre slept with one of the officers girlfriends, idk how true it is, but by the way they were behaving, it was like they had a vendetta.... Something's off.
@Kyle90 I do honestly think that there was some reason they wanted this boy and this was done on purpose to get him for some reason. I hope if its true, it comes out later. It just doesn't make sense why a "Special Unit" would be at the scene for reckless driving or pulling someone over for that to begin with and then why were there 5 of them there to do it? And there's no evidence that I've seen of any reckless driving and if he was driving recklessly then why immediately pull up beside him and right away jerk him out of the car and start acting the way they did? I believe that's why they have charged them with the kidnapping because there's no proof he should've been pulled over to begin with. Why wouldn't it have been a normal traffic stop? And if people want to say maybe he kept driving trying to run from the police then why isn't that on the body cam footage? The police are supposed to turn on their cams as soon as they notice something happening that would involve an encounter. So if that was the case then they should've turned on their cam as soon as they seen that he was driving recklessly and they knew they were pursuing him, but for some reason they waited to turn them on until they already had him pulled over and was already pulling him out of the car. None of it adds up when you really break it down. I mean they pulled up and pulled him out of the car like he had been driving down the road shooting at them or something.

The courts don't scare criminals anymore, and the system is no longer a deterrent. When the public isn't getting justice from the system that is supposed to protect them, you see acts of vigilantiism begin to rise. Law enforcement in this country is in a similar situation. I think how to interact and comply with police should be part of a mandatory course in school, however the cops were ultra aggressive with that man from the beginning of the exchange...I really feel he feared for his safety when fleeing
absolutely I think hes over simplifying what happened here. The kid ran cause of the officers threats while pulling him out of the car talking about going to break his arm. An why cant 5 decent size guys cant take a 150lb man in cuffs they clearly had the adavtage.
I'm so glad you put out this video mister Tatum. The first video you put out on this topic was before the police video was out. It seemed like I spent the entire day defending what you said which was absolutely correct the video was it out yet! Everyone was jumping down your throat without information and I believe it was based on what the chief did. Telling people how they should feel before the video came out throwing her own people under the bus to get responsibility off herself
Im from Memphis, and I live here. Its is absolutely heartbreaking! And the fact that she let CNN interview her just goes to show she has no fucking idea!
I remember when I was learning how to drive, my dad in the passenger seat, he showed my how to act when being pulled over by police. Hands on top of the steering wheel, yes sir/no ma’am, and follow instructions. Both for my safety as well as respect for the law of the land. Seems simple.
Two of my kids took drivers Ed from a company retired police officers own. They told them what to do if they ever get pulled over. My oldest son took it from another company that didn’t teach that but I told him.
I haven't been impressed with any female leadership in high stress jobs. That chief looks like a single mom, not a hard-nosed law enforcement officer. She knows that she is out of her skill set and going to be fired.
I don't understand why the ex-officers made such an aggressive approach to Tyre's car when Tyre was first stopped. Guns drawn, car door jerked opened, Tyre roughly pulled out of the car. Tyre was on the ground and the ex-officers kept repeating orders and at that point I think Tyre truly feared for his life so he went into flight or fight mode. At no time did these ex-officers attempt to deescalate the situation. I don't understand how any of the ex-officer's actions be justified or excused. Normally I might comment the if the person complied, it wouldn't turn out negatively but Tyre never got the chance. Watch the video of the approach to Tyre's car and tell me what you truly see. RIP Tyre and prayers 🙏 for the family.
I can't believe what Tatum is saying. He apparently didn't watch the video of the ex-officers approaching Tyre's car. Tyre wasn't given a chance to comply. I'm so disappointed in Brandon. He's speaking like the people I use to hear him criticize.
It's probably come out at some point as to why.. We've seen this over and over.. A narrative is produced and few months later , its found to be incorrect. I don't believe they just randomly ,stopped a guy and pulled him from his vehicle, there was cause for that. He definitely had the chance to not resist or run...
@@PhillyRoadtech exactly. But it's too bad it looks like these cops seem to be poorly trained. It would appear that their leadership is unbelievably incompetent and it could actually be her incompetents that led to this.

Losing respect for you. From all I've seen these cops do not deserve any benefit of the doubt. I support law enforcement but I don't support thugs in uniform. Did they call in the traffic stop? Is there dash cam of the the alleged reckless driving? They punch him, baton hit him and kick him in the head, then delayed care while seeming to be happy with what they did. Play the video and listen to Everything what the cops were saying. It's disgusting. Another ex cop covered it more in depth and gave a good breakdown. It's Donut Operator. She was sworn in as the Memphis police chief in 2021. Davis is the Memphis Police Department's first Black female chief,[7] she is also the first female police chief of Memphis.

It was premeditated. All 5 were out together that night looking for blood.
Maybe the officer who initiated the traffic stop dropped an assist.

@Ashley Walker naw that was brutal. It’s easy to say when you are not on the receiving end of the punishment. I’ve seen worse in my career when working in NYC. I know @ times take it too far. Innocent until proven guilty 🤔 yes they will have their day in court, all info will so we have the full story however the video I seen was completely disgusting. At one point he didn’t even have his hands loose to defend himself. They beat him to death. In my opinion, brute force, and overkill.

What are you talking about with "What happened to innocent until proven guilty???". Chief Davis isn't being charged with any crimes, she's being accused of being incompetent and should resign.
Retired assistant chief of police here... when I saw the name of the specialized unit was "Scorpions" I said that's a big mistake right there. Scorpions is a name for an outlaw motorcycle gang, not a police unit.
I believe part of this problem that doesn't get discussed is the failure of the courts to protect and mete out appropriate punishments to those who attack, harm, and kill our nation's law enforcement officers. The courts don't scare criminals anymore, and the system is no longer a deterrent. When the public isn't getting justice from the system that is supposed to protect them, you see acts of vigilantiism begin to rise. Law enforcement in this country is in a similar situation. Criminals definitely are no longer scared of the police, because all force is considered/viewed as excessive by the courts and the public.
Fuck does killing 🐷 have to do with these Neo Gestapos have to do killing innocent black men?

The stupid thing is, she had given the defense attorney A LARGE amount of evidence that these officers will not be able to get a fair trial. Her stupidity knows no bounds.
They did it! So what is the problem? The 5 officers gave evidence when they did this so they’re the Stupid ones, end of story!
@@Growinggracefully843 It is the job of the Police Chief (As Brandon said) to display impartiality. It will be very hard to find a court where the officers can get a fair trial (part of our constitutional system). A police chief publicly declaring her opinion about it will be enough to make it difficult to find an unbiased jury.
Just watch.
@@robertihde7806 understood however why is this stupidity on her part. The evidence speaks for itself. I understand being impartial as I was a Non commissioned officer in the Army however right is right and wrong is wrong. Maybe at that time she felt they disgraced the badge, disgraced the MPD and put her other officers in harms way because the crime rate here in Memphis is terrible and there’s no respect for law enforcement anywhere! And for the safety of her officers that remain on the force she probably had to show solidarity with the community before they tear up everything worst then they already have. One officer threatened to tase him, but didn't pull the trigger--Tyre then managed to twist away from their grip and ran away--at which point he was tased and didn't even react. The street camera you refer to does show him being beaten--but he wasn't wearing cuffs until they fully subdued him. You are letting your own emotional response lead you to forget I said he was BEATEN BY THE COPS but ignoring all the circumstances they may have seen him as high on some drug with the manner in which he responded to them. Sure if they're in the wrong and your life isn't being threatened you can just have your day in court and sue em, but if an officer (as with anyone else) is unjustly threatening my life they very well may lose theirs. Looks like they tried to stop him but he continued to drive until he just stopped in the middle of the street. Now--is that normal behavior? NO! When they tried to cuff him he fought with amazing strength not to be put on his stomach with his hand beg\hind him. She was fired from the Atlanta police department
Those guys killed this guy, but that's the only part of this story that I believe.
You’re absolutely right!
She shudda BEEN fired a long time ago.
The indictment was issued after Atlanta police took no action in the case and a subsequent investigation by the city pointed to Davis as the reason. Davis was demoted from major to lieutenant before being fired from the force that she had joined in 2008.
You are correct!
She is trying to save her job.
The police under her command will never trust her again. If the ever did. She seems disconnected from what goes on in her own department.
Yes she created the situation. She probably has no interaction at all with her own officers.

I was thinking the same. If they were on the force for less than 10 years, how are they experts? I'd think a task force should be comprised of specifically trained officers.
I think how to interact and comply with police should be part of a mandatory course in school, however the cops were ultra aggressive with that man from the beginning of the exchange...I really feel he feared for his safety when fleeing
