Procreate is so much fun! Though limited in size. I think it's important to state that the choice of sizes is yours! These are standard sizes, so they are recommended, but you don't have to do all of them! If you're using Procreate, you also have the DPI option manually, so you can just choose the inch value, and 300 DPI. Happy to hear that :) I remember 4 years ago when I wanted to start an Etsy shop for printable wall art I was so lost with these dimensions so when I opened this channel it was on my top posts to start with :)
@@MeyTribe Mey thank you so much for helping us all! If you don't mine can you help me, I have a question about ratio sizing, so there are 5 ratios 2:3,3:4,4:5,N/A,1:1 is this correct? And if so, do I only need to make 5 sizes in total :24x36,18x24,16x20,11x14,8x1? And one more thing, the 300 dpi, how do I know if the dpi is 300?
@@iamherpoetry6273 So - There are 5 popular ratios You can make your designs in other ratios if you want. The maximum size of the artwork is something you choose- nothing mandatory. Can be less than what you wrote here. Or more. And as for DPI, again it’s the easiest thing ever !!! Hi Mey! I've watched a few videos on wall art ratios and yours is so clearly explained that the normal everyday person can understand. Thank you for clarifying you do not have to offer all the sizes. My question is, if a customer buys a digital file and wants to print out the next smaller version, do you have a video that explains the process for them in case they ask? Thank you so much!
Hello and thank you for a very useful video. The one question i have left if What about the colour profile. I think it should be CMYK but you can never be sure. Thank you in advance.
Best way is to test it out yourself, using your own art, and seeing if it comes out OK. I know many artists who sell printables with RGB and it looks just as fine. It also depends on the paper type the customer will go with, or if they'll want to print it out on let's say- wood.
Hi Mey! So Great to see you making videos often! I have questions, please, about my poetry as wall art. I am not sure about font size, etc. I cannot see full size using canva on my laptop computer, so I don't know if the font will look larger on big poster, or if the font stays the same. I have long poems, so I cannot use huge fonts, I don't know which size I can use that will still be able to be read easily without having to get so close to the print. I don't want to just pick a font and then pay a print shop for experiment of how it will look because experimenting like that will be a waste of money. I see that usually people don't have a lot of text and is it usually large on white background, but I am not doing that. My poems are not huge, but most of them are not short either, for example, one of them is 20 lines long plus title and my name at bottom. Can you please give me guidance on this. Thank you.
You're welcome ! Try re-watching the video again while writing the info down! That's what I do when I feel a TH-cam tutorial didn't quite settle fully in me :)
Thank you so much Mey for the amazing video! When downloading the finalized images from Canva, would you recommend JPG, PNG or PDF? After I downloaded them and checked the details of the images, it reads a lower than 300 dpi.
You should be creating your artwork on all of the biggest sizes within the ratios if you wanna sell all of them. basically start with the 24x36 and adjust from there is what i know a lot of people are doing. Notice that not all designs will actually look good in all ratios. If a design looks full and amazing as a 1:1, maybe on other ratios it would look "missing" . I do know plenty of people who focus on the vertical/horizontal ratios, or just sell the 1:1- which is easier to mockup and sell (only one file you need to make, and there was a video about that: th-cam.com/video/M278fUJXWDM/w-d-xo.html )
@@pageofmoskof it’s not about what people do If you have an image that is 3:4 ratio and you what it to be 1:1 you crop it. If you want to create multiple ratios you can do that too. But you can’t change ratio of an image without cropping it or distorting it.
@@MeyTribe This was the easiest solution I found, but I convinced myself that other vendors had a much better solution, as it would create different visuals in the downloadable files that would be put on sale, and I have been looking for an answer for days. After all, if this is the most reasonable and common solution, there is no need to search further :)
Hi Mey, is it a must that we have to choose the resolution like above? in case we offer big size print and the file is too large (or worry someone steal our work ) :)
Hi there. I loved this video. We are just planning to start selling on Etsy, so any info we can get is more than welcome. Thank you. Regards from northern Europe.
You're welcome :) (still shocking for me to see a comment on one of my first ever videos LOL) Where are you abouts in Northern Europe? I'm in a different part of Europe now- located in Bansko, Bulgaria :)
@@MeyTribe Hello Mey! Still in Bulgaria? I was down there years ago once for 2 weeks. Back then the country was so very different from western European countries, but perhaps these days they have a higher standard of living. I recall they had great natural yogurt and very tasty pancakes covered in strong liqueur. The heat wave is trying to kill us all here in northern Europe.Take care, enjoy your trip.
Thanks ! (So cool seeing that people love this video... it's actually a funny story, I made this presentation to help me film the video, but when I wanted to film I felt like I don't wanna be behind camera today, and after filming "deleted" myself and kept the presentation LOL)
Took a screenshot of the overview! For people with PS. I believe that PPI is the same as DPI. (I always have to say it in pixels per inch). One question: if for instance someone in Europe would like to print it. Is the same ratio also in centimetres available, or do we need different ratios for that.
1. This could also work on Canva. Not for all the sizes, but the smallers ones could work out too. I know so many people who choose the inch size on canva and end up with a bad resolution print. So choosing pixels using these dimensions is key. 2. Yes, DPI and PPI are the same in this context :) 3. Some of these sizes are available in EU as well. I do know that a lot of places use the A system, like A4, A5, A3... In that case, just Google- A3 size in inches X 300 = the pixels you'll need :)
Thank you for this video!! I have been on the search to explain this. Quick question- if I design the largest piece and it can be scaled down to print anything smaller with the same ration how do you explain to do this to the customer? I guess im confused about how this is possible.
You can simply write the explanation to the customer, that they can, for example, have a 20x16 inch file and give it to a local print shop and ask them to print on 10x8 inch
Also how do I do the aspect ration thingy? and what color mode is best to save the file with? I heard that they prefer as CYMK or something like that. Also what's better quality to save it as? jpeg or png?
Very helpful, thank you so much for this video. Do you think a 16" x 20" illustrations created using procreate, will be sufficient to scale for printing all the other recommended sizes? Thanks for much in advance for your response.
That depends on the exact art itself, if it won't appear "wrong" in these other dimensions. You can for sure choose the higher size and work your way down- it's well recommended :)
I’m confused with the pixels. I’m using canva and for example a 24x36 in shows up as 2394x3456 px and canva won’t allow more than 8,000 px. I’m referring to the sizes on time 10:26.
Canva creates that size for you with low Dpi- which is why I said to not design based on Inch sizing - only on pixels sizes And you cannot fully use canva for all sizes. Especially if you combine existing clip art from them

Thank you.
Superb video! So clear and succinct. Thank you very much 🙏
You're very welcome!
I didn’t understand everything but I understood most of it so thank you very much!
You're welcome !
Try re-watching the video again while writing the info down! That's what I do when I feel a TH-cam tutorial didn't quite settle fully in me :)
It's very nice..thanx for so much good knowledge ❤
Thanks for your clear explanation!
Very helpful information! Thanks!
You're welcome!
This was extremely helpful, thank you for going into detail here!
❤❤omg you've helped me soo much.
Yes! Simple and very informative.
Glad you liked it :)
Thank you so much Mey for the amazing video! When downloading the finalized images from Canva, would you recommend JPG, PNG or PDF? After I downloaded them and checked the details of the images, it reads a lower than 300 dpi.
Hello thank you for this tutorial. Which size should I create my artwork so it is downloadable in all the ratios? Thanks
@@MeyTribe Thank you very much!
You are a Star ;)
OMG.. this is the best informative video ever!! Thank you so much 🤍🤍

Glad it was helpful!
Great video ,have a good start on youtube!
Thank you !
I've only been on for 2.5 months and it already feels like I'm on TH-cam forever. I think it became my favorite social platform LOL
Thank you for such elaborate info on the canvas sizes 😇❤️
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this video! so well structured and to the point! it helped me a lot!
Hey Mey, thank you so much for the video. I am kind of stuck how to re-ratio my photo works with out cropping them. Do you have any suggestions 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
To change a ratio of an existing photo means- cropping it. You can't change a ratio without cropping a photo, it would look distorted.
@@MeyTribe Hey Mey thank you for your answer. I would not prefer but if this is what all the printable sellers do, I do too :)
@@pageofmoskof it’s not about what people do
If you have an image that is 3:4 ratio and you what it to be 1:1 you crop it.
You're welcome :) (still shocking for me to see a comment on one of my first ever videos LOL)
Where are you abouts in Northern Europe? I'm in a different part of Europe now- located in Bansko, Bulgaria :)
@@MeyTribe Hello Mey! Still in Bulgaria? I was down there years ago once for 2 weeks. Back then the country was so very different from western European countries, but perhaps these days they have a higher standard of living. I recall they had great natural yogurt and very tasty pancakes covered in strong liqueur. The heat wave is trying to kill us all here in northern Europe.Take care, enjoy your trip.
@@hazydreamer7965 yup, still living in Bansko Bulgaria:) a lot of cold rainy days here, and addicted to the yogurt for over a year now :)
Amazing Job 👏👏👏
Thanks !
(So cool seeing that people love this video... it's actually a funny story, I made this presentation to help me film the video, but when I wanted to film I felt like I don't wanna be behind camera today, and after filming "deleted" myself and kept the presentation LOL)
Thank you so much for the clear explanation and all the sizes comparison.
2. Yes, DPI and PPI are the same in this context :)
3. Some of these sizes are available in EU as well. I do know that a lot of places use the A system, like A4, A5, A3... In that case, just Google- A3 size in inches X 300 = the pixels you'll need :)
Super clear and informative.
Thank you Mey
You are so welcome
Thank you for this video!! I have been on the search to explain this. Quick question- if I design the largest piece and it can be scaled down to print anything smaller with the same ration how do you explain to do this to the customer? I guess im confused about how this is possible.
You can simply write the explanation to the customer, that they can, for example, have a 20x16 inch file and give it to a local print shop and ask them to print on 10x8 inch
You can also add that if they don't manage that, they are not managing printing at home a larger file- they can ask you for the smaller one !
you are sharp as a katana solved all my issues
Also how do I do the aspect ration thingy? and what color mode is best to save the file with? I heard that they prefer as CYMK or something like that. Also what's better quality to save it as? jpeg or png?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
You are so amazing for this, THANK YOU.
You are!
SO helpful! Thank you.
You're so welcome!
I’m confused with the pixels. I’m using canva and for example a 24x36 in shows up as 2394x3456 px and canva won’t allow more than 8,000 px. I’m referring to the sizes on time 10:26.
Canva creates that size for you with low Dpi- which is why I said to not design based on Inch sizing - only on pixels sizes
And you cannot fully use canva for all sizes. Especially if you combine existing clip art from them
Hi. I can't seem to find a video on 'step by step tutorial on printable wall art listing' on your channel as you mentioned in this video. Could you please share a link? Thank you!
I'm so grateful for this. Thank you 😊
Ohhhh thanks
